Huh? It's releasing in August and costs $40. Astro Bot is releasing later in September and at $60, and I still don't really count it since it's still for very late summer.Erm the one that took six years to make and your in the topic for it?

My bad I though it was later in the year September/ October time.Huh? It's releasing in August and costs $40. Astro Bot is releasing later in September and at $60, and I still don't really count it since it's still for very late summer.
Eh, there's nothing indicating this at all, and I wouldn't use the development time when Helldivers 2 took 8 whole years and had a relatively small budget. Of course, the higher production values push it above HD2, but not as much as you think.Let me rephase it. It doesn't help when their next game which likely cost north of $200 million looks to be a dud.
I think the game is fantastic.
O yeah i pulled the figure straight out of my ass but I bet im not far off. They have what 170 staff just now? Granted they wont have been that high for 6 years but still. The production values on Concord are the most impressive thing. That don't come cheap.Eh, there's nothing indicating this at all, and I wouldn't use the development time when Helldivers 2 took 8 whole years and had a relatively small budget. Not to mention that marketing is pretty much non-existent for this game thus far.
I dont have a master games list in front of me about top earning and played GAAS games, but I'd guess if a company wants to make GAAS hoping to strike gold, you got to do what everyone else does and gun for (no pun intended) a shooter game as they have potential for being top money makers. The biggest question is just why they thought the world needed yet another hero shooter?!
You mean these games? You can't say they have not adapted to todays climate.Halo, COD, and Gears… all still have sequels what you talking about?
PUBG, Warzone, Escape from Tarvok, Counter Strike, Rainbow Six Siege, Doom… all these games are still available and extremely popular.
I found that crazy too when I read that the other day. Even old ass COD games from the 360/PS3 era had gamers join in progress to fill out teams. How does this game not have lobby filling? Everyone just leaves most games end up uneven like minutes in or even at the start
Weren't people whining that everything was brown, uninspired, rehashed trash back then.
That's how you know they are just chasing trends, it's even missing basic functionality like lobby fillingHow does this game not have lobby filling? Everyone just leaves most games end up uneven like minutes in or even at the start
I dont think Sony is naive enough to think Gaas is the solution.Well yeah, a big reason Sony are pushing for GAAS is to be less reliant on 3P, but I think it might be shortsighted of them to think only GAAS can provide that independence from them. They have taken to GAAS because they are supposedly cheaper to make than AAA traditional games, and have more monetization options due to MTX.
But to me that's the easy way out. The preferred way would be to see how to keep investments prioritized to the bread-and-butter while cutting out excess costs. It's something Totoki talked about months ago, finding ways to reign in costs for AAA development without sacrificing on expectations. If the main costs for AAA games are things like content production, I dunno why SIE don't take studios like Firewalk and just put them on as support to other studios, specifically for making content and helping speed along programming & QA. Getting rid of consultancy groups like SBI would also help save money on production, potentially millions.
And then there's other things like making more AA traditional games; Astro Bot had a dev cycle of ~ 3 years and it's already looking to be a massive favorite and strong seller. I was always put off with the budget allocations between non-GAAS and GAAS that SIE shared at other fiscal meetings; some people want to say GAAS funding doesn't impact non-GAAS funding but that's pretending SIE's funding budgets are infinite. They aren't.
And now it's Woke and anti-Woke, who are basically acting exactly the same as eachother.Cunts were.
Give me back my bald space marines any day.
Most studios (if not all) only focus on a handful of core GAAS franchises across different genres. And when it comes to shooters, probably only 1 or 2. How may game companies even have TWO big shooter GAAS at the same time? Activision? COD and Overwatch? Sony already has Bungie cranking out Destiny. So they dont really need any onslaught of shooter IPs like the PS3 days when they had too many and spread out the PS3 online base too thin. At one time they had KZ, Resistance, Warhawk/Starhawk, SOCOM, MAG and even those PC ports of those giant battle shooters. Way too many. Console gamers loved shooters, but they cant support that many along with third party top doggers like COD/BF.I dont think Sony is naive enough to think Gaas is the solution.
What they are doing, us expand their library. During the PS3 era, they had a lot of great mulitplayer games like Resistance, Killzone, MAG, Socom, Warhawk and Starhawk (as well racers, but there's still GT).
But last-gen, they were focused on singleplayer primarily and we've seen some mp studios close, like Zipper (Socom/MAG) and Icognito (Warhawk/Starhawk).
So rn they have almost only singleplayer and practically no multiplayer.
So the way I see it, is that they are going back to what they once were a more allround publisher with less reliance on 3rd party multiplayer.
It's an investment that they have to make now, to be less dependent going into next gen.
And to so that, they acquired new studios that were already working on projects, hence why we see titles like Concord, Marathon and whatever Fairgame$ is working on, rather than a new Socom or Warhawk.
(And GG and Insomniac are already working on multiple titles, so they have little room for a new Killzone or Resistance).
Sure, but they need to get things going and when buying certain studios, they automatically acquired their projects as well, so that's already at least 3 new franchises (Marathon, Concord and Fairgame$). Then there's HD2 as well. I dont think there is one big gaming corporation ever whose had a gaming roadmap and strategy with 12 GAAS games over the next 3 years and hope 1-2 are bangers. Not MS, UBI, Activision, EA etc...
This will be a monumental flop for Sony and I'm glad it's happening now. They will get the message and reset their focus. It's probably too late for some other games they have in the pipeline though.
I freaking love Helldivers 2, I still play it for about 10 hours a week. That game has a unique flow and depth to it that sets itself apart. It doesn't play like any other "gaas". That's its strength, it has its own identity. They’ll keep trying until they win
Helldivers 2 already covered the loss of this flop and then some
That is fucking horrendous.just wait until the weekend...

There seem to be some hints at something PvE-related, but on the Concord Discord they stated that they won't comment on PvE.Perplexed that this has taken 6 years of development.
Feels like the mp tacked onto a sp game. Are we sure this game never had a SP mode to it?
What is PVE, like co op?There seem to be some hints at something PvE-related, but on the Concord Discord they stated that they won't comment on PvE.
No idea. What is PVE, like co op?
They get fired, bro, no amount of dev time can save this turd of a game, its not a problem of some gamebreaking bugs or lack of content, instead core of the game and its whole premise makes sure its, and here 2 variants w/e party some1 prefers:Yikes. What does Firewalk do now? Delay it? Rework the whole thing? Add/ reveal PVE? Add bots? The lobby not being balanced/ not filling up after people quitting almost always means you're just going to get snowballed and lose.
just wait until the weekend...

Wait for the real launch next month.
Wait for the "PC numbers don't matter, there's 6 million players on Playstation" next month + 1 week.
I think everyone knows it's dead.
I'm interested to see what the studio/Sony says after this weekend.
I mean we knew this with Suicide Squad, but didn't stop people touting the "plenty of players on Playstation, PC doesn't matter" until WB admitted it failed in a investor call.
Social media / PR :I think everyone knows it's dead.
I'm interested to see what the studio/Sony says after this weekend.
What focus? That Gaas titles are the way to go after Helldivers 2, GT7, MLB's yearly entries? This will be a monumental flop for Sony and I'm glad it's happening now. They will get the message and reset their focus. It's probably too late for some other games they have in the pipeline though.
