Driveclub PS Plus Edition Coming Soon

E3, been saying it for a while now. Signs look pretty good!
In fairness, considering how it was pitched to us the first time, they'd be better off just releasing it and not giving it another E3 segment. Unless the package has significantly changed.

If you wanted to play it you would have already... There can't be too many people who were "waiting" on the ps plus version and refused to buy the retail which has been discounted a few times.

I don't think it's a demo, it's the full game but with less content (at least if it's still what they originally said it was going to be). If I remember correctly, you can even platinum the game in the 'Free' version.
Semantics. What only matters in the eye of the beholder is that he'll only have access to parts of the game (e.g. he won't be able to join challenges or MP events taking place out of India.)

I guess it is semantics but I still think calling it a demo is underselling what's on offer.

Bwhahaha, got a good chuckle out of this, you should see the "Driveclub is missing for 100 days" thread ... :D.

Got the game for free and found it pretty awful. Glad I didn't waste the time downloading it.

If you're really desperate for the game it's incredibly cheap second hand so might as well pay a few dollars and get the full features. But again wouldn't recommend it.

e: yeah it's $18 used lol

Tell us more.

How many players did TF2 gain when it went F2P? And there was no expectation that that was on the way.

You sure you're not confusing frame rate with graphics? I don't own forza 5 but I dohorizon 2 and DRIVECLUB both of which run at 30 and DRIVECLUB blows horizon 2 out of the water so I really doubt forza 5 looks better
Framerate does = graphics though... FH2 is superior in my opinion. Really clean image quality mixed with a day night cycle and weather. Driveclub had a very shimmery look to it that detracts from the graphics.

There's a comparison thread for this.....

People complaining that people that didn't pay for drive club shouldn't get it are being petty.

I brought FIFA 15 at launch and now it's up for EA Access, which is great it means a more active online community.

Or do you think Evo/Sony's servers still can't handle a basic racing game.

OP does a nice thing by updating us on the PS Plus edition with cool changes that have been made. Gives info that has been sealed away by Sony. And everybody rages. Another Driveclub thread devolves quicker than you can say "soony" or "FH2". Expected, I guess, but still annoying when it happens.

No good deed goes unpunished, Slay. But thanks for the update :)

I was waiting for the Plus version, but caved months ago during a nice sale for the full version. Glad I did, because it's a fun and beautiful game. Those weather effects and support :0

Would you call the movies you get in your Netflix subscription "free"?

This argument is becoming less effective as time goes on.

If you pay your PS+ for the 'free' games only (you don't see online play as a part of the service) then Sony compensated for Driveclub absence by replacing the title with another game. On the other hand, if you saw the Driveclub PS+ announcement and thought "Great, I'll start paying PS+ now purely for driveclub when it releases" then your logic is completely out of whack as you might as well have placed a pre-order and bought the game outright from how much you spent on PS+. Remember, the games are what you see as the main service!

I would say it's actually becoming more effective as time goes on, as subscriptions are expiring which never received a highly-promoted benefit

If you pay your PS+ for the 'free' games only (you don't see online play as a part of the service)

Your motives for purchasing the service are not actually relevant, although it may affect how much you care about how they've handled this.

then Sony compensated for Driveclub absence by replacing the title with another game.

Contrast, IIRC, at console launch; a product I think it's fair to suggest many people felt had a rather lower perceived value than the Driveclub that was promised; I can absolutely understand people who may feel it was a bait-and-switch. I don't remember if they also offered something at the second launch attempt; I think it was regarded as entirely separate to that month's offerings. I assume they'll do the same when they finally do get it out.

Care to explain further why you found the game awful? I'm almost level 50, driving is solid and graphics can't be beaten maybe until GT7, online is working now. So definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a solid racing game on PS4.

I keep seeing people saying Driveclub is do cheap now that a PS+ version is pointless now. Not in Canada, it isn't. Almost every retailer still sells it for $70 and I don't think I've ever seen it below $40 up here. It's actually kind of bizarre, given the usual discounts other games receive by this point after release.

I'll give it a try. I don't think I'll like it based on the descriptions of it, but at least I can get a look at the prettiness. Who knows. Maybe it will grow on me.

To all these people saying "they better..."
They don't have to do shit. The fact that they're upgrading the ps+ edition to have a lot more content then people should just be grateful.

Something>Nothing

Driveclub PS+ edition is good stuff, it'll bring the rest of my friends to play online and they struggle to beat my scores.

Everything's good.

I'm shocked they aren't making the full game free on Plus for a month. I was certain they'd do that. Maybe announce it at E3, have it up later that day.

It seems technically smart to get this out of the door before E3. Also, the game seems stable enough now that it would benefit from this extended 'demo'.

Glad we got Resogun, was better than a demo for this game at that stage anyway. ;)

And yeah, DriveClub wouldn't be a bad PS Plus title I guess, but perhaps being a relatively early graphical benchmark, they can see the game has a lot of sales legs that they don't want to eat into perhaps. Still, I think it may happen eventually.

I did get plus for driveclub though. And when it didn't come out I cancelled my sub.

You subbed to PS+ over a year in advanced for what was clearly stated to be a glorified demo?

And you were willing to pay £5 ($7) a month to play it after you has already paid ~$40-50?

Plays like absolute junk. Horrible handling makes it feel unwieldy as hell and a weak sense of speed. See I could live with that if it was were a sim and realism was key but in many ways it's trying to act like an arcade racer. It splits the difference between the two and ends up failing at both. It's not fun for simple high speed racing - PS4 desperately needs something there - and falls short as a sim in a world where GT exists. I'm not a gear head so I can't say I really paid much attention to the graphics.

The reason I got the game for free is my friend got it bundled with his PS4 and gave it to me and said it was the worst racing game he'd ever played. After seeing positive reactions on GAF I gave it a shot but I found myself agreeing with him. This was all recently and post-server issues too, nothing online related.

What? It has the best sense of speed of all current racegames...

Don't you play online in any games? Or just F2P ones?
Nope, 99% of my gaming is done on PC. Did get Destiny and played that for like a week though.

What? No, i bought my ps4 a couple of weeks before the DC release date.
