Driveclub PS Plus Edition Coming Soon

But how am I going to feel entitled for something free now?
It's not free. If it were, people without PS+ could download it too.
I hate that ppl pretend driveclub is the sole reason they pay for ps plus
Who is pretending that? There being more benefits to PS+ doesn't suddenly mean that the PS+ edition of Drive Club is free. If it were free, anyone could download it, but the only people who will be able to are people that pay to be in a service and this was promised as part of their service.

If I signed up for Netflix in part to watch the Daredevil series they made, and they didn't put it up when they said they would, and kept me in the dark about when they WOULD put it up, do I not have the right to be mad that something I signed up for isn't there even though they said it would be?

Stop trying to jump through hoops to figure out a way to claim that you could get this for free. No matter which way you look at it, it's impossible to access this without paying for it.

NFS Rivals wasn't trash. Like really people? It wasn't great, and Driveclub is certainly better but Rivals wasn't garbage. It lacked cars, variety and you were pretty much done with the game within an hour.

The big difference between Driveclub and Rivals is that Driveclub has replay value. With Rivals the open road map was incredibly small and you probably would be done with it within an hour of play. The cops discouraged any sense of freedom or exploration as well. Driveclub is just straight forward racing bliss. Sure it sucked at launch but it only got better overtime.

I got Rivals for $10 during a PSN sale and it was nowhere near as good as the $35 I spent on Driveclub + $25 I spent on the season pass.

On topic, we knew this was coming, especially with that new Startline Tour. I honestly don't see the point though, just release the full game on Plus and keep it there for a month or two.

Best wishes.

Sure, but the game was so crappy that he didn't even complete the first race.
Says his 01 driver level in DC

Some guy on another forum was saying DC is piss easy, he got so annoyed by it that he sold the game and now shits on it at every possibility.

Then I checked his driver profile and noticed the Audi R8 was the fastest car he used.
That's like 2 hours of playing max.

At this point Driveclub imo should be released in PS+ as a full game (with the exception of the season pass content). Anything other than that will just bring (much) more negativity and won't be good for a potential sequel.

I think that will be announced at E3.

I think the biggest backlash this game is going to receive is from the people who didn't want to play that game that much in the first place but were interested as it was free and now have leeched on to the hate train.

These people will go into the PS+ edition with an already negative attitude and remember that they don't play racing games much and just continue to hate on the game: "I waited a year for this piece of trash!?"

Racing fans will love it as long as you're not looking for a sim. But also if you're a racing fan, I'm not sure why you haven't bought it already.

I'll field this inquiry.

I love racing games, but hate sims. Burnout Paradise is my all-time favorite. But I'm still unsure of how this game will play, hence why I wanted to try the PS+ version before spending any money on it. Sure I could have picked it up at a retailer for dirt cheap by now and even if it handled poorly and was not my thing, I could just get rid of it. But if I buy a racing game, and like it, I want it to be digital so I can just plop in and play it whenever I want without disc swapping. Certain game genres I just want digital: Destiny/Battlefront, racing, an SSX-style game, etc...

I've had PLENTY to play to occupy my time since October, so waiting hasn't really been excruciating for me. I have the patience for the PS+ version, so when it releases, it releases. And I'll try it. And if I like it, I'll fork over more money for the full version.

That's at least my mindset. I can't speak for everyone that has waited this long. And I have absolutely no hate for the game or the studio. I think it looks visually fantastic and look forward to finally playing it.

Did this help any?

I wasn't arguing the free or not-free point.

People act like they were bamboozled into signing up for PS Plus. When the fact is if you pay for something in advance of an upcoming feature, the only thing you're paying for at that point is what is currently available on the service

Everything you're saying about netflix and promised features means nothing. Simply because there were no requirements to play DC except being a member When the game is available.

Its your own fault if you paid for PS plus b4 DC was available.

This is the gaming industry, this is not the first time ever something got delayed.

Missing the promise on a ps+ edition has been the greatest thing to ever grace the game: I bought it right away, and it was damn worth it, it's an incredible game.

DLCs also adds a ton of value.

Buy this game xD

I really don't see them announcing they release the full game on PS+ when you have evidence in this very thread that they have just updated the PS+ Edition of the game, and included more content.

I'm not even sure we'll hear about this game at E3, to be honest.

It was garbage as a racing game for sure. Not even imo I could make a big list of why its a terrible racing game but im on mobile right now.

I love how the arguments for them releasing Driveclub as a free full game are written as if the consumer would be doing Evolution a favour.

It's awesome the team and the people holding the purse strings are still delivering on the PS+ Edition. The update notes have made this clear enough, but with how long it's been, it's nice having another sign of how that's coming along.

At this point anyone interested in Driveclub can find the full game for 20 euro in retailers (and cheaper second hand), so I don’t see the reason for Driveclub PS Plus edition – a demo of the main game actually…

I guess that Sony will give a base version of the game for free and they will sell add-on content as DLC…

And with half of the people in Evolution Studios fired, I am curious to find out how the servers will behave if 10 million (or more) people try the free edition…

Because not even for 10 euros everyone that has a ls4 will buy it. It has a bad reputation among some but its imo one of the finest racing games in the last few years. A free edition with a lot of tracks and cars will be played by much more people and if they like the game they might buy the season pass.

That's it. They want people who are not particularly into racing games to try it. Some of these people will think 'hey, it's not as shitty as I've been told', and they may even want to buy the game in the end. And more sales is exactly what Sony is after.

I picked up DC for $15 just the other day, it's so cheap now that a PS+ edition is almost not worth it in comparison.

That being said, I'll support anything and anyone that puts a demo of their product out in 2015.

This !

They should expand the content of the PS+ Edition and make the upgrade to the full version ~15-20 USD/€

I agree with you that – post patching – Driveclub is a good (not great) arcade racer…

The game, after the patches, is really good, weather effects are unbelievable and I think that everyone should have it in its PS4 gaming library, if they like racing games.

All PS4 gamers must experience a race under heavy rain, to understand how good the effects are…

I still think that the servers will not handle the load of the free edition, as even now the online part of the game still has issues some days…

I don't mind waiting, as I assume the waiting was necessary due to server issues. I don't hold that against anyone.

There is no sane way to attribute the entire cost of PS+ to this single game. I mean, I get, what, 6 games a month (minimum) for 12 months? That's like 55 cents a game at 40 a year? Plus I save a ton of money during sales/discounts, and honestly, by the time it's all said and done I probably paid somewhere between a dime and a quarter for the ps+ version of DC. I can wait.

I mean, I preordered Uncharted 4 too. And that got delayed. That's how it goes. Delaying things until they are ready is a good thing, not a bad thing.

Well there is a great problem, because every PS4 PS Plus subscriber will download Driveclub free edition to try it and the servers will go down once more…

So I don’t know what effect will server issues will have on sales of the game (or dlc content), if people cannot play online with their friends after almost a year that the game in on the market…

And another question i have is if the people that will download the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub can play with people that bought the full game (as i have)...

I always find the reception for Driveclub and Knack to be interesting as it relates to PS+

Driveclub:
-"Free" version granted to PS+ users at PS4 launch/when the actual game launches, yet remains unseen to this day
-Defenders of DC insist that people just buy the game rather than waiting/complaining because it's pretty cheap

Knack:
-No promises or evidence to suggest this would ever be a PS+ title
-The game can be purchased for dirt cheap but instead people rail on the idea that the game isn't worth any money while waiting/complaining for it to show up on PS+

Wasn't the original version supposed to have just India?

The new one doesn't seem to have any extra locations as mentioned in the OP or am I missing something.

Well, we'll see, but Evolution had quite some time to rework its server framework, so there's hope it'll hold tight.
And AFAIK, you can play with the PS+ Edition players. As long as it's in India.

Instead of 5 tour events all taking place in India only, the updated version now includes 11 tour events (= a whole championship) taking place over the six locations the game has to offer (and also giving access to some cars from the full game and paying DLC).
But outside of this championship, the gamer is still restricted to India.

Makes me curious how it'll turn out seeing how the wait has been very long. I'm also curious if they're going to drop it as an E3 announcement and make it available on the store at that moment as well.

I would just give up waiting, I wasn't super interested in the PS+ edition so the delay doesn't fill me with rage.

I found DC for cheap earlier this year, bought it and its one of the most fun racers i've played for ages. Just waiting for that season pass to go on sale to unlock almost too much content to handle.

I can say for myself the lack of a PS+ version to this point has caused me to buy the game used for cheap last week instead of new as I would have preferred to do. For the price I paid used, I honestly don't care if I end up hating the game because it was so cheap.

So I guess they lost a potential sale there... and I'm sure there are others out there like me.

And you know when I finally comes out, most of the hater are going to flood the forums with, "All this wait for this?!" or "I just can't get into it". Let's not forget the "Sony should have closed down the whole studio for this trash! I can't believe I waited for this!". I can't wait for the comments.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up.

Lots of seem to be insinuating people a game is bad, because of the lack of a trial/F2P version. Really silly imho. Judge the game based on the actual game I'd say, not based on the availability of an F2P/trial version.. ;)

At this point the full game wouldn't be surprising as a PS+ release.

I don't think that makes sense. They want return of invesment, you know. ;)

Yeah I agree. Unless people paid money or something for the Driveclub PS+ Edition (not the case, obviously), Evolution Studios doesn't awe anyone anything imho.
