It's not free. If it were, people without PS+ could download it too.But how am I going to feel entitled for something free now?
Who is pretending that? There being more benefits to PS+ doesn't suddenly mean that the PS+ edition of Drive Club is free. If it were free, anyone could download it, but the only people who will be able to are people that pay to be in a service and this was promised as part of their service.I hate that ppl pretend driveclub is the sole reason they pay for ps plus

At this point Driveclub imo should be released in PS+ as a full game (with the exception of the season pass content). Anything other than that will just bring (much) more negativity and won't be good for a potential sequel.
I think the biggest backlash this game is going to receive is from the people who didn't want to play that game that much in the first place but were interested as it was free and now have leeched on to the hate train.
These people will go into the PS+ edition with an already negative attitude and remember that they don't play racing games much and just continue to hate on the game: "I waited a year for this piece of trash!?"
Racing fans will love it as long as you're not looking for a sim. But also if you're a racing fan, I'm not sure why you haven't bought it already.

If I signed up for Netflix in part to watch the Daredevil series they made, and they didn't put it up when they said they would, and kept me in the dark about when they WOULD put it up, do I not have the right to be mad that something I signed up for isn't there even though they said it would be?
Stop trying to jump through hoops to figure out a way to claim that you could get this for free. No matter which way you look at it, it's impossible to access this without paying for it.
I really don't see them announcing they release the full game on PS+ when you have evidence in this very thread that they have just updated the PS+ Edition of the game, and included more content.I think that will be announced at E3.

NFS Rivals wasn't trash. Like really people? It wasn't great, and Driveclub is certainly better but Rivals wasn't garbage. It lacked cars, variety and you were pretty much done with the game within an hour.
The big difference between Driveclub and Rivals is that Driveclub has replay value. With Rivals the open road map was incredibly small and you probably would be done with it within an hour of play. The cops discouraged any sense of freedom or exploration as well. Driveclub is just straight forward racing bliss. Sure it sucked at launch but it only got better overtime.
I got Rivals for $10 during a PSN sale and it was nowhere near as good as the $35 I spent on Driveclub + $25 I spent on the season pass.
On topic, we knew this was coming, especially with that new Startline Tour. I honestly don't see the point though, just release the full game on Plus and keep it there for a month or two.
Best wishes.
I have project cars now and witcher 3 soon. I don't need it anymore.
Yeah, its a little too late now that the retail price is so low.
At this point anyone interested in Driveclub can find the full game for 20 euro in retailers (and cheaper second hand), so I dont see the reason for Driveclub PS Plus edition a demo of the main game actually
I guess that Sony will give a base version of the game for free and they will sell add-on content as DLC
And with half of the people in Evolution Studios fired, I am curious to find out how the servers will behave if 10 million (or more) people try the free edition
That's it. They want people who are not particularly into racing games to try it. Some of these people will think 'hey, it's not as shitty as I've been told', and they may even want to buy the game in the end. And more sales is exactly what Sony is after. At this point anyone interested in Driveclub can find the full game for 20 euro in retailers (and cheaper second hand), so I dont see the reason for Driveclub PS Plus edition a demo of the main game actually
Would you call the movies you get in your Netflix subscription "free"?
I picked up DC for $15 just the other day, it's so cheap now that a PS+ edition is almost not worth it in comparison.
That being said, I'll support anything and anyone that puts a demo of their product out in 2015.
Because not even for 10 euros everyone that has a ls4 will buy it. It has a bad reputation among some but its imo one of the finest racing games in the last few years. A free edition with a lot of tracks and cars will be played by much more people and if they like the game they might buy the season pass.

Well, we'll see, but Evolution had quite some time to rework its server framework, so there's hope it'll hold tight.Well there is a great problem, because every PS4 PS Plus subscriber will download Driveclub free edition to try it and the servers will go down once more
So I dont know what effect will server issues will have on sales of the game (or dlc content), if people cannot play online with their friends after almost a year that the game in on the market
And another question i have is if the people that will download the PS Plus Edition of Driveclub can play with people that bought the full game (as i have)...
Instead of 5 tour events all taking place in India only, the updated version now includes 11 tour events (= a whole championship) taking place over the six locations the game has to offer (and also giving access to some cars from the full game and paying DLC).Wasn't the original version supposed to have just India?
The new one doesn't seem to have any extra locations as mentioned in the OP or am I missing something.
Why? Its like a free demo with more stuff than a real demo.
At this point the full game wouldn't be surprising as a PS+ release.
At this point (updated PS+ Edition version), it would be extremely surprising, on the contrary. At this point the full game wouldn't be surprising as a PS+ release.

But outside of this championship, the gamer is still restricted to India.

Just put out the whole game on PS+, it's 19 gigs. Repopulate the servers.

I love how the arguments for them releasing Driveclub as a free full game are written as if the consumer would be doing Evolution a favour.
Soon the full game will be 10 dollars in a bin somewhere, I'll just get that.
