EA CEO implies Dragon Age Veilguard failed due to not being a live service

“In order to break beyond the core audience, games need to directly connect to the evolving demands of players who increasingly seek shared-world features and deeper engagement alongside high-quality narratives in this beloved category,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said

Please. Concord and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League were live service games and both were equally panned in the same way Dragon Age Failguard did. All three were DEI-infected slop filled with terrible and abysmal writing, forced diversity and virtue signaling, and, most of all, unnecessary implementations of identity politics that NO ONE in real life wants in their games. All of them were overall bad games and all three of them flopped like a sack of potatoes as they deserved. At least Sony (or Sony Japan, if Endymion's sources are true) acknowledged their failure and wrote that POS Concord was a tax write-off.

What a fucking idiot, lmao. Doesn't take long to look into the community to realize the game just wasn't the same quality as its previous iterations at all.

Ironically he's not wrong, a AAA Online ARPG would have probably done gangbusters right now. There hasn't actually been a non-shooter, AAA, online, real 3D (i.e. not the PC nerd isometric MMO rotation shit) ARPG since probably PSO. Monster Hunter has really owned that genre alone for decades and it's not really an ARPG cause it's structure and mechanics are so weird. Story would also have been cut in 1/5th so it wouldn't have had the Nonbinary or Barve scenes.

A good one might have. But then, a good offline RPG like Dragon Age would've done super well, too, had they not screwed the pooch.

Did Marvel's Avengers do good? No.

Between the DNC lunacy, and people like this I am genuinely wondering if a third of society have lost their damn brain oozing out of their ears...or are the rest of just delusional and seeing a simulation in real time?!?

It failed and you have the reasons, millions told you the reasons...upon reasons

You nixed the dark fantasy and rpg elements of its predecessors for Fortnite colors and safe boring designs inoffensively dull!

the landscape (while beautiful) were linear and boring with little to find or seek out

The story was dull, it was generic and the villain was practically lifted from DA2 (or inquisition I forget)

The senseless DEI garbage that makes a character a joke and memorable for the wrong reasons

The Marvel-esqe humor that was tired after the Avengers...the 1st one

The blatant hypocrisy, if Tassha were a male character (fyi he is) as in a Cis male as the too far gone would say and pulled this

Resetera and those similar to them see above and sadly most of the gaming industry and yes that includes "gaming journalism" would have prepared a Noose for the misogynistic, chauvinist Neanderthals' who was responsible and expect an apology tour from the entire game studio and yes that includes "game journalists" :messenger_tears_of_joy: demands as well

and FYI I'm sorry to everyone for having to watch that...

How is this guy the CEO? He sounds like he doesn’t know anything about Dragon Age or video games at all. Gamers want this, gamers want that. What’s his proof? Fortnite and Roblox money?

He also forgets that BioWare tried to make a live service game already and failed miserably. Anthem died almost immediately when it released.
Interestingly, Anthem sold 5M copies I think. So it seems like it had enough numbers to last. But it seemed like the game just disappeared fast.

You know,....here is the thing.

There was a thread today about how old gaffers are and how long will they continue playing.
And to my surprise most are in their 40' and 50's.
Surprised as for that we act like retards .

Anyways, if your audience is old fucks with hemorrhoids, do you really believe we buy your bullshit? You believe that a generatiin that grew up with video games and knows their shit , will believe that your game failed due to live service?

I mean fuck me i am gullible after all i bought into the get married have a house a car a kid but really?

NO no not you. Of course .
No i was talking about gamers, like real gamers. You know.
It is like calling yourself a music expert but you listen to britteny spears. Or beeing a movie buff but only watch the teletubbies. Thats not a real gamer.

No i would never compare you to them.
BEsides i only know about you that you like pc and your favorite game was pong or roblox or something, not sure. And that you left out soo much in your gaming life that ypu learn most of it on this forum.
Thank you for not making a big deal out of this.
I misspoke. My apologies

Jason Schreier's next headline:

"It was not the Chuds that killed Veilguard, it was the lack on live service!"

GaaS is great depending on the game, but it's pretty obvious your core audience for a Dragon Age game isn't that making it bizarre to cram one into that type of package. They have one chance not to fuck up Mass Effect by making it for Mass Effect fans. Doing that will go a long ways towards bringing in more people beyond that.
