seriously though youtube/mainstream videogame site comments on evo stuff make me wanna die.
This guy sounds like he's having an extensional crisis. "Oh, Galileo came back... but all that effort doesn't matter, since we're all going to be absorbed into the sun and end up dead anyway."

Sometimes I wish MvC3 never came out so I could actually learn MvC2 and play my dream team of Wolverine/Cable/Psylocke

Or the far superior option of MvC3 actually having a decent roster of Marvel/Capcom characters rather than the POS it is now. I'd actually suppress my hate for the game just to play it, if it had a better roster.

not a chance in hell justin's team is the best wolverine team in the game.

that's pr rog's team, free.

justin is just a god and makes that shit work.
PR Rog's team is Team Scrub. Most results for least effort.

I'm biased because I have to put up with it on a semi-regular basis, but I really think Sumbrwnkid's team (Wolverine/Dante/Akuma) is the best Wolverine team. Once you block, you lose. I think I've played against literally every notable Wolverine player except PR Rog, and only JWong is a more frustrating player to play against than Tauseef.

I think Tatsu and Plasma offer different things.

Consider the Firebrand matchup. It scares the crap out of PR Rog, and it is because Firebrand can duck under it. But Firebrand cannot duck under Tatsu.

Plasma Beam can be punished and even beaten by other projectiles. Tatsu is very hard to punish and negates projectiles.

Plus, Akuma is a much more flexible anchor than Doom.

I am not saying that Tatsu > Plasma, but it is not an inferior option. Not to mention that Tatsu scales combos much less. PR Dog needs TACs more than JWong does.

errr it might be a better team overall but I wouldn't say best wolverine team.

Akuma is just really good. It has some nullify projectile properties and it locks them down for a good amount of time for people to do guess cr. a or instant overhead.

Yes you can do it with Doom but its not nearly as good as akumas.

It might be one those semantic arguments. "Best Wolverine team" is not necessarily the same as "Best team with Wolverine on it."

Plasma is better free.

You have to work for the Akuma lockdown. People just won't block it for you. Plasma gives you a safe full screen neutral with better mix-ups and the same pick-ups/juggles. Also, Vergil with beam is way better than Storm with Tatsu.

You also get access to the best infinite in the game.

Is there any real difference between TAC infinites as long they are practical in all directions anywhere on screen :p

Doom's is easier and does more damage for a rep.

I guess in a vacuum where execution and potential for drops isn't as high, there is no difference.

The theoretical best and most optimum Wolverine team is Wolverine/Doom/Dante.

Note that this is not the same thing as the best team featuring Wolverine which is in fact PRRog's team.

Plasma Beam is stupidly good for Wolverine and it's shocking that it wasn't discovered in Vanilla when almost everyone played Wolverine. It allows Wolverine to go for yolo full screen Berserker Slash to get in. If they block you get pressure because they blocked Plasma Beam... if they get hit then Plasma Beam allows conversion. It also doubles as a very good late combo extender for Wolverine. In addition, the positioning of the assist call makes it a semi defensive assist against other rushdown/heavy characters alowing Wolverine to have the last say in scramble situations (a reason why this assist is top tier as fuck).

Jam Session is also absurdly good for Wolverine. It allows for the same Tatsu style mix ups including Berserker Slash or instant overheads/fuzzies. It's an obscenely strong assist on incoming, it blocks fireballs for Wolverine and is an excellent combo extender for Wolverine. It also takes care of Wolverine's main problem which is dealing with super jump characters like Zero and Morrigan.

This one two combo of horizontal and vertical dominance makes Wolverine a major threat from various spaces and ensures maximum combo extensions. In addition, Dante's THC provides an obscene amount of lock down to open up people with while Doom has TAC option.

Both Dante and Doom can use each other's assists very well. Really though the only weakness of this team is that you have to play either Dante or Doom anchor as opposed to Vergil but for a front loaded Wolverine team this is the best.

You don't think the best Wolverine team has Mystic Ray backing him? Angelic's play makes PR Rog look cautious.
If you could have 3 assists on a team then the two I mentioned plus this would be all Wolverine needs.

Angelic uses Mystic Ray for 3 main things. Pick up after throw (both Jam Session/Plasma Beam do this), to get in with full screen Berserker Slash (Plasma Beam does this) and to pressure opponents at SJ height (which Jam Session also does just in different ways). You could also argue that Mystic Ray has the same defensive property of Plasma Beam but to that I say that Plasma Beam does it better because it's faster. Mystic Ray does not give Wolverine instant overhead/fuzzy mix ups which he wants for sure and Jam Session/Tatsu give him that.

For an optimum Wolverine team featuring Mystic Ray you need Tatsu/Jam Session assist for sure. It actually some what works out because Skuma can use Tatsu. I would still say that Doom/Dante is a bit more stable than this as you have access to superior TACs and THCs. I also feel Dante is a better anchor than all of those other support characters.

In any case the top 5 assists for Wolverine are (no order);

Tatsu
Jam Session
Plasma Beam
Mystic Ray
Drones

Honorable mention: Rocks

Drones I added an extra because the mix up potential for Wolverine if he gets you in Drones is higher than any other other assist. With those assists you generally only have to make one maybe two guesses with Drones you will have to take a minimum of two even three mix ups at a time. It allows Wolverine to go for Berserker Slash while they are locked down because of the Drones gap.

That feeling when Evo makes you think "I'd like to learn how to properly play fighting games and start participating in my local fighting game community" and then you realize that the nearest arcade to you is Sunnyvale Golfland

For those that missed it,

Harada vs. King Ray Jr. (8 year old) at EVO. That dev support to the community.

Harada: "I hate this game" lol

Edit: Also, Aris talking about Tekken 7 and his additional insight based on his questions to Harada at EVO.

In summation, TEKKEN 7!!!!!! GET READY FOR THE NEXT BATTLE!!!!

LMAO at Harada at the end

it was insane how not 1, not even 2, but at least 3 different people were downplaying chris g's talent by claiming hidden missiles was the only thing carrying him to top 2/great placings in general. this was on gaf alone. said he'd be ass and wouldn't be winning jack all if not for the assist. straight up nonsense
