It should be fine as long as the button config is like 3S and DS Resurrection instead of SFXT's.

Yeah but this time they actually made it so you press the button for each command you want, rather than selecting it from a list. So you see "LP" and you press X or whatever. Should make it faster.

I might be late for the update on edition. There is an update that doesn't allow edition select online ranked, offline only.

Free balance patch at the most 2 years after Ultra. Another paid expansion would reach the highest orders of stupidity.

I need to watch that top 8 though, I missed some matches in it. I also need to observe FChamp's play against Zero... I caught a few tactics but I want to confirm what was deliberate and what wasn't.

Ultra SF4 allows the players to change their controls at the character select menu? Awesome! I'm glad Capcom decided to get on that train.

Because they don't want arcade/online play to die off from players abandoning the game.

Still, you should be able to choose Edition Select mode in unranked lobbies, in my opinion.
It makes sense to not have it in arcades, though.

The danger is that ranked gets abandoned in favor of unranked, which would not be a good thing for the game. Race to the bottom/lowest common denominator in action.
Why not? Ranked is pretty meaningless, and if it was abandoned so people could play Edition Edition, that means thats what people want to play and that should be tournament standard.
I would be completely fine with this not being tournament standard. Even though people are acting like this is new, ST was played for years, and still is. Hyper Street Fighter II had the same concept and was at EVO at least once, I think maybe twice. It's not like this would ruin the sanctity of Street Fighter but whatever..
to not even make this playable online? They could have made it like Arcade edition is now and let you set a lobby to be Ultra only or Edition Select. They promoted this whole thing with "prove your character is the best" or whatever, yet most people won't even be able to use this feature.
Yea. The first time he experienced Firebrand (it was against Zak Bennet actually) he went into a ridiculous salt rage and FChamp had to calm him down. Then when Apologyman started using his full unblockable team at WMW PRRog got even more salty and said he would quit the game after EVO. Now he just goes into full crowd monster mode when Apologyman is doing work with FB.
He also made a recent tweet about it at SCR.
People will not be able to use it ONLINE! Guys it's just a fun feature to have fun with old dudes like us, not something to be taken seriouly, what would be the point to balance the shit out of Ultra if you'll let people fight with AE Yun, Vanilla Sagat and AE2012 Cammy?!

The problem is that it the following sequence of occurrences is unfortunately a real/likely possibility.
"Man, I'm winning only 40-50% of my matches. (against same-ranked players.) This is so hard. And I really like winning, I have so much more fun when I'm winning."
*switches to Vanilla Sagat/AE Yun*
"Oh, man, this is so much easier now. I'm da bes! Stop whining about my character and learn to play N00BS"

Ranked provides an organized/available play experience for players 24/7. It's not meaningless in terms of keeping players invested in the game and IP. In Hearthstone design they mentioned one of their big things was a minimization of the "buckets" that players would be sorted into, and how it was imperative it be kept low. Currently, there's only Ranked Constructed, Unranked Constructed, and Limited. The more buckets you add, the more you risk you risk a bucket going empty.
If done right, and providing you don't have a certain character on your team, you just lose. Like, not blow X factor to see the mix up, not guess, not do anything clever. You just lose. It's smartest to take the hit so he has to blow more resources to kill you, that's how messed up it is. It's not all that bad though cause it's Marvel, and if you get any stray hit on the bat it falls apart.
I doubt it's the main reason he quit, but just the last "Wow, this is silly, and I was already not having fun dealing with this game."
If you do it right you can't escape the setup. People where getting out because they got lucky.
