No, like all complaints about gaming bloat in open world like games, it’s the players compulsive issues that are the real problem.
This is part of it. I have 2 friends who's enjoyment of a game depends on how easy or difficult it is to platinum whatever they are playing.

It's tragic.

i kind agree and disagree at the same time, FF16 has a lot of pacing problems and poor side quests but it was a new story line, new character and, new world. I already know FF7 story and even with the changes made in FF7Re its not that "new", they tried to expand every segment of the game and that made the game way more boring for me, for example the Cait Sith Manor segment was way worst then Mid FF16 "lets make a boat" quest line imo.

if i would give the last 3 FF games a score, it would be:

FF7R : 9/10
FF16: 8/10
FF7Re: 6/10

FF16 better than Rebirth? Lmao 🤣

well, imo it is by a fair margin, i had way more fun playing 16 than Re and i hope that Square dials down the "bloatedness" in the third game, or i ll just rent like i did with Rebirth.

I think the biggest issue I have with XVI is it's not an action-RPG or RPG game, it's just a straight up action game. The other issues are poor level design, poor enemy variety, sidequests are very boring overall, lack of playable party members, lack of whimsical or fun moments (entirely too bleak), lack of exciting things to find and explore, and an over-use of cinematic battles / QTE. If they can fix all or most of these things in XVII that would be great.

I would say there was more strategy and enjoyment for me in the Queen's Blood and Chocobo racing mini-games than the entirety of FFXVI.

I find it interesting so many hate on FF VI.
Granted, the general trash mob combat is the death of passion, but some of the boss fights are decent and the Eikon fights are at least spectacular.

For me, what is worlds better is the writing, it's more mature, the characters behave like actual humans, I'm not left standing like wtf they wanted to say or who's that character, introduced at the end of the game, like I should have known all along who that is.

As a FFXIV player I see all the flaws FFXVI has staring me in the face. And beyond a couple actors doing their best the story drops off rather fast and has severe pacing issues and a lack of urgency. It's an ok action game but it's just hit stuff on cooldown most of the time against damage sponges.

The game is actually more fun when you mod it and remove the cooldown on abilities and the game is suddenly fun and gains a lot of depth. Instead of just do I stagger now or stagger later.

Restricting hard mode after a normal playthrough which is like 50 hours was also a stupid thing to do.

Oh and Jill was here.

FFXVI is just a bad FF game under scrutiny and doesn't meet the standard I would place on a mainline title. As a spinoff action title it would have been received better I think.

I think if you want those modern MMO boss fights you'll have a waaaaay better time with Granblue Relink.

Yeah, I said the combat is weak, there's no denying that, FFVIIR combat is fantastic, there is no comparison here.

I don't like the writing and how characters talk in VIIR, they tend to go from one extreme to the other or be cryptic just because, the more serious approach in XVI makes me a bit more engaged, but this is just my opinion, I don't want to sound bitter or too critical.

In general I don't like modern boss fights and the ones in FF XVI, what I meant is that there are maybe 1 or 2 that are interesting and/or give a challenge and that the Eikon fights are spectacular, but they are just that, there's nothing else there, zero challenge.
Also, I'm not a jrpg fan, there are just a few that I like, in FF series, I like just XVI and VIIR, Dragon Quest echoes of an elusive age and Nier Automata, which is one of my favourite games ever.
