Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster |OT| G - A - F in position, it's showtime gurlz!

Indeed! Master Thief is so useful. I made short work of
Yunelusca
with all the Fire Gems I stole...

haha, yeah, I've been stealing a shit load of Fire Gems on Mt. Gagazet. Speaking of that place, WTF is up with the encounter rate? It's insane. xD

I don't think there even is that many locks :lol.

lol. On the expert sphere grid, there's a ton of level 3 keys from what I can tell. :( But 20 should do me just fine for a longgg time.

Is Master Thief a new ability ?

I don't think so. You use the 30 Pendulums you get from the Remiem Chocobo Race (3 chests reward) to customize it to an armor piece.

Literally what I came into the thread to complain about, lol.

I've started fleeing every battle because they're too long and annoying to deal with, like I did on the PS2. Gonna have to grind eventually.

I'm playing my english copy of X|X-2 remaster. In the beginning of X-2 at Mt.Gagazet... all English, then Yuna enters a battle, says "Zenkai da iku yo". Is this intentional??? I had the original and there were no Japanese lines to my knowledge? Seems very weird to me.

Sounded like her English voice actor to me.

Yep. They each have a few Japanese lines.

wait wut. Are you telling me SE just randomly made the English VA dub in a few Japanese lines? What? lol

I just pushed my way through all the battles because it's pretty dang good exp.

Ever wonder why
so many summoners die up there
?

It all makes sense now. The
other Summoners threw down their PS2 controllers and gave up.

Playing FFX-2 and I like the new dress spheres. The festivalist one is so wacky and (for lack of a better word) japanese. I'd forgotten so much about this game.

Just reached Luca in FF X. Those Luca Goers can go eat a dick, douchebags.
I just can't see how people think Tidus is "omg so annoying, whiny bitch, bane of my existence", his behaviour seems to be pretty natural to me considering his past and his current situation.
Random encounter rate is higher than I remember but it's tolerable. I can't believe how good this game looks, sometimes I just stand and enjoy the scenery. The OST is so soothing and awesome, very relaxing to play. All the characters are enjoyable and relatable in some way or another. God I love this game.

Later in the game he really shows selfishness and outbursts with whiny tone, Tidus is pretty much a man-child right until the end.

Anyways, time to start X-2 with a cheesy pop song!

I find Tidus annoying, mostly because of his voice, but I also don't see how he can really be considered "Whiny."
He has that big tantrum at one point but that's only one scene and it's pretty justified.

Selfishness and outbursts? The one I remember is when he discovers
Yuna has to die to defeat Sin.

And he was goddamn right.

I wouldnt go as far as saying that he is a manchild but he is certainly not mature. I do remember that when he finds out
he is a dream.
that he deals with that really well and that's when you see his "ultimate" growth.

I just did the Butterfly catcher, and I want to thank whoever it is at Square-Enix who made the timer not start until you actually captured a butterfly.

That makes it 10x easier. I don't know if that was done for international or is a feature of this new version, but wow. You can even hit a red butterfly and still win with the change because you don't lose the 4 seconds it takes to get to the first butterfly.

To me it got old about him going on "This is my story". Yeah you are not sacrificing your life.

However, Yuna is a great chracter. Too bad her VA does not try to show emotion during her scenes.

The irony is that
he actually did end up sacrificing his life, if they had done the traditional final aeon thing Yuna would have died and Tidus would have stayed alive because he only disappears if we kill Yevon.
Not to mention that
he was the one who stood up for Yuna and said no to the bullshit of Yevon in the first place.

Sure, but he did not know that before he said things like that to Auron. Like I said, he does become more mature after reaching Mt. Gaz. He is really childish with his hate for Jecht at the start. "He took my mother's attention away from me and he gloats, I HATE HIM!"

Also,
Auron wanted to not go along with Yevon as well. He used Tidus to get the job done.

I just cleared the Thunder Plains, which means I've officially progressed past the point where I stopped playing on PS2.

I see a lot of posts in this thread where people talk about dodging 200 lightning bolts in a row. What's up with that crazy shit? Is it just to get a trophy, or does doing that unlock some ultra amazing essential item that makes it worth the time invested?

That would be great! Played that a lot when it came out, but never finished it. Having another go at it on Vita would be ideal.

Yeah I had the limited edition on PS2 and enjoyed it a great deal but never finished...for some reason I think I sold it around the time I got a PS3 and I've been kicking myself ever since. I've been looking at a lot of screens of the game and holyyyy shit it would look AMAZING in HD on the Vita. I think it probably has the best art direction of any of the Final Fantasy's

Finished FFX, and accidentally listened to the post-X-2 radio drama.

I would like to return to a state of being where I never listened to the radio drama...

I had to do the Mi'ihen machina mission three times to get to the stupid machina in Newroad that gives points for blaming the mystery on
Rikku
. That was literally the worst part of the game for me so far.

This math dungeon is so bizarre.
I think I might slightly remember that. It always makes me happy replaying parts of this game that I totally forgot all about.

Dodging 200 lightning bolts in a row is both a Trophy and the hard part of acquiring Lulu's ultimate weapon.

Hey, it could have been worse.
You could have read the summary of the novel that came out recently.

I'm not a completionist, but I would like to finish the game. Is it neccessary to get ultimate weapons to beat the game?

No.
Doing side quest (naturally) make the end bosses a piece of cake, but you could do without Lulu at all.

Final Fantasy XII on Vita is my ultimate dream. Perfect for doing hunts and stuff.

My fingers are crossed that this sells well enough to get them to do it. I bought it digitally on a PSN account that I'm not using anymore after seeing that Sony may let us change our usernames at some point, and I've reverted back to my old account which had more trophies and PSN store purchases, but I so don't even mind double-dipping on this if it would help FFXII HD become a reality-- especially if we get the International version.

I have 3 grids completed and two well underway, but this is beyond tedious. I think I'm just gonna finish the game and not look back. Even with 60 or so levels a pop from the Tonberry trick It still takes an eternity. Not to mention having to fight Kottos 8 times constantly because the item limit is only 99..

Yeah, I am right there with you. I got 4 more characters to complete, but this is too time-consuming. I hate to give up here, since this is really the last trophy I would need.

There's no doubt it would be the I+ZJS version of the game. I'm just afraid that they'll use any excuse not to do it.

This is S-E we're talking about. I fear that we shall face some kind of penance for actually enjoying a new FF product. They'll do FFXII International HD but there will be an audio drama that sets up for FFXII-2 in which Vaan will crash his airship in Paris.

Sooo, now that we know this game is a success, can SQEX go ahead and announce FFXII HD please?

Has Square actually released numbers for the Western version or are we just assuming it did well because this thread is really active and the Japanese version did pretty well?

Luckily for you, there's already a sequel in the form of Revenant Wings.

I decided to quickly finish FFX because I wanted to play X-2 today. Will continue with FFX grind soon.

I noticed how beautiful FFX-2 is. It was already somewhat better looking than X on Ps2, but on Vita its a feast for the eye. Speaking of, this game is made for Vita. Its mission structure, faster gameplay and less complicated level up system makes it an excellent handheld RPG. It just plays great on a handheld. Menu is still laggy compared to X though.

FFXII ZJS on Vita would be too much to handle.

Am I doing something wrong? I can't seem to get Attack Reels to show up as a prize. I'm pretty sure Wakkas been in enough battles since I already captured 10 of every monster in all but 2 areas

edit: Derp. It won't show up because it's a tournament prize and not a league prize. Am I right?

It's a tournament prize, not a league. Reset Blitzball data. Play an exhibition game, immediately forfeit and then do not continue playing Blitzball. Save. Then open Blitzball and check if there is a tournament on. If there isn't a tournament repeat the steps above saving after every game until one appears. If the prize is Attack Reels then great. If the prize is something else reload and hopefully the prize is different. You need to save before you check Blitzball to see what the prize is because once you see it it won't change

EDIT: Well scratch that. I could never get it to change but it seems I'm wrong

Does anyone have a link to a really good and comprehensive Blitzball guide? I've never played it before and I'm getting close to finishing everything in X. Kinda wanting to just get this overwith as fast as possible now.

How do I get the Tournament to open up though? Right now it says there currently isn't one

Play an exhibition and forfeit, look if the option isn't blackened after it. Repeat if its still black. Tournaments tend to open and close now and then.

But the prize of the very first tournament ever (ie after a data reset) should always be Attack Reels. It has been the case for me at least.

Guys, I'm really stuck at what I think is the final boss. Any help would be appreciated!

Final Boss Spoiler
I'm fighting Jecht. It took me about 20 to 30 minutes to beat his first form. I beat him by casting Hastgae on my party and Slowgae on the boss and his "wards" (or whatever they are). I then ignore the wards since Lulu needs one double cast and an additional "single" cast to kill one ward. I tried killing them once but by the time the second one dies, the first one is up against. Then zombyfied him whenever possible and used Yuna to cast Curaga on him.

In his second form the boss onehits Yuna, Tidus and Lulu and twohits Auron. I fought him for about 15 minutes till and he was still at full HP. Really frustrating. I googled for a bit and most people seem to suggest to grind for few hours or to go back and get Anima or Magnus (Aeons I suspect?). I was sort of trying to avoid backtracking or grinding. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Am I supposed to leave the blitzball menu once I forfit or do I continue playing Blitzball? Any small details I might be missing because this tournament isn't opening.

edit: As soon I posted that it showed up. I pressed Continue playing Blitzball so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Also, I did what you said in this post http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=782123&page=194 But for some reason when i started the tournament it didn't give me an option to pick any of the guys I hired. Did I somehow fail at hiring them? lol When I reset my data did it get rid of them?

Yep. Resetting your data resets...everything, including everyone you've hired. You just have to hire them again.

You don't have to play exhibition matches - just exiting the blitzball menu 3 times will do.
