Absolutely shocking and incredibly sad. I really liked this guy in everything I saw him in.
Great young talent, what a shame. Dammit.

All I'm saying is that to jump from an overdose to pneumonia being the cause is a bit of a jump since we're all sitting here without accurate details and making our own minds up in what we want to believe. And yes, I still believe it is a leap of faith to be saying pneumonia is the direct cause at this stage.

brokeback mountain, a knights tale, and 10 things i hate about you says WOW.painey said:im really suprised that this thread has so many replies, I always thought he was a pretty average actor in some crappy films but I guess the new batman movie built his reputation up. Sucks that he died though, especially for his kid who will have all the morbid details of her dads death recorded in the media.

AICN said:Hey folks, Harry here... There's a lot of rumors swirling around right now in regards to Heath and where his involvement with THE DARK KNIGHT was. I got it confirmed from a source involved in Post-Production on THE DARK KNIGHT. Heath's post work was complete. He had indeed finished it, as to not interfere with the production of the film he was doing with Gilliam. We're now working to find out what's going to happen there. The last known photo of Heath was as a clown in that film. Will Terry re-cast? What will happen? We'll try to find out for all of you. But there will be no-dubbing on Heath in THE DARK KNIGHT - his performance was finished.

the Joker, who the actor described as a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy".[9] Nolan had wanted to work with Ledger on a number of projects in the past, but had been unable to do so.[10] When Ledger saw Batman Begins, he realized a way to make the character work in that film's tone,[11] and Nolan agreed upon his anarchic interpretation.[10] To prepare, he lived alone in a hotel room for a month, formulating the character's posture, voice and psychology.[8] While he initially found it difficult, Ledger was eventually able to generate a voice which did not sound like Jack Nicholson's take on the character in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film.[12] He started a diary, in which he wrote the Joker's thoughts and feelings to guide himself during his performance.[9] He was also given Batman: The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth to read, which he "really tried to read [...] and put it down".[11] Ledger also cited inspiration in A Clockwork Orange and Sid Vicious.[13] Ultimately, "theres nothing that [is] consistent", as his main objective was to frighten the audience.[13] The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night.[9]

Of course they would be dark thoughts, he was trying to get into the character of a murdering psychopath.dogmaan said:hmm dark thoughts perhaps?

After seeing "Lost in La Mancha," I can't help but feel a little bad for Gilliam here (while, of course, feeling worse for Ledger and his family).VeritasVierge said:Wait, you don't believe Terry Gilliam attracts bad luck do you?
