I think people are making WAY too much of his preparation for the Joker role.

yeah, it's part of an actor/actress' job to prep for roles, they know it's fiction... I don't see that as a possibility.

Speaking of Bishop, I can't wait until he sees this thread. There's nothing funny about a 2 year old losing her dad forever

Well, this is why I'm surprised. Like, none of this got by in the Benoit thread, aka, the night of 1000 bans.

It wasn't suicide.

He was ill with pneumonia when he died. It's seeming like this is another Jim Henson where he should have been in a hospital and not working himself to death by flying to Oz for dinner with a supermodel, to London to work, and then to New York in just a couple days time.

Heath was definitely into drugs two years ago, but as was said, he allegedly cleaned up.

Two summers ago he visited the Green Room in Montreal and pretty much everyone saw him doing lines of coke in the bathroom, it was a bit embarassing really.

But hey, why judge a person for that?

Anyways, it seems more and more like this death was accidental - pneumonia plus poor health plus sleeping pills. Terrible for his family and his daughter though.

This really shocked me, the same way John Ritter's death shocked me. Completely unexpected. You get used to seeing people's faces in the media and all of a sudden they won't be appearing again. It's a strange feeling.

wow. some random dude on a random website. sure sounds legit.

and even if it was real. could be a fucken joke. some random guy gets nosey about your phone conversation, what are you going to say?

It's meant to be attributed to Jason Lee the actor. But sounds like bullshit as I doubt anyone would seriously start naming names of drugged up actors because of defamation issues

His performance in Dark Knight is going to be surreal... I always said that in the newest trailer that I couldn't see Heath Ledger anywhere, all I saw was The Joker. And now that the man that did that is unfortunately not with us... I don't know, it just makes it even more surreal.

Ugh.

Probably had walking pneumonia, and pushed himself WAY too hard :(

It's strange to think that the fictional character "Joker" may have had something to do with it.

Probably just the pnemonia (sp?), though.

Fuck. That was awful. Jim Henson is one of the most tragic deaths I can recall. My dad sleeps a ridiculous schedule and works 2 jobs. 2-4 hours isn't uncommon 5-6 days a week. That scares me deeply, and this heightens that - as it's looking more like pnuemonia/bad health conditions/sleeping pills mix. These suicide reports just sound so premature, I can't believe how much they've reported it.

RIP Heath. :(

I don't know why but im fucking balling tears out right know. listening to lighthouse's "from where you are" song and looking at heath's montages on youtube just hit me like i got blitz by an entire teams defense. :(

How does this even apply? Benoit was a far different situation. with Benoit you were dealing with a murderer, with ledger it looks like accidental suicide. Totally different cases.

i'm honestly saddened by his death, so please don't discount that when i say that i am INCREDIBLY interested to see how he's going to be marketed for his role in The Dark Knight now

honestly, i was really young when the Brandon Lee thing happened with The Crow, so I don't remember any of that, but this is a much bigger actor in a bigger movie, giving what so far looks to be an amazing, or at the very least intriguing performance

this news really sucks, as he was a good actor and plans for Batman 3 will now have to be changed, but I'm really interested to see what happens now

uhh, it was pnuemonia.

And some of the references from posters here was really uncalled for and they was pretty blunt about it.

Is there a source for this Pneumonia info? Scouring web right now...

I wouldn't go that far yet. At the moment you're hoping for pneumonia (to be the cause) in a sliver of hope that he wasn't the cause of it. Nobody is really going to know until the autopsy report

TMZ

Further, and this isn't aimed at FightyF or anyone in particular for that matter, it's worth pointing out that claiming he died of pneumonia is just as premature as saying he killed himself. Jesus christ. :lol

My guess is a mixture of pneumonia medicine and sleeping pills were the cause of death. Just a bad accidental mix. It's a shame we lost this great actor... he was just beginning to get the roles he deserved.

R.I.P.

Pneumonia is a fairly serious illness if left unchecked ... while we don't know that its the cause of death ... stating its a 'sliver' of a chance is pretty bullshit.

Considering we really know shit all surrounding the events of the death and the source of this "pneumonia" is pretty sketchy I would say 'sliver" is accurate.

Same as with Brandon Lee. His performance in The Crow would've opened up his carreer wide open. A shame.

Assuming that he did indeed have pneumonia ... exactly why is every other scenario discussed here assumed to be decidedly more likely?

Man, this is terrible. Over the course of the year, I've become a fan of this guy, as I'm sure most of us have, anticipating his performance in the Dark Knight. I thought this role would propel this man even further into stardom and give him the respect he so rightly deserves, proving his diverse talents and establishing his foothold in cinema.

Shocking, sad news, man. When they showed his bodybag being wheeled into the ambulance on the news, my heart just sank. What a bad day.

RIP.

Except if the word is out that he had it then it wouldn't have been left unchecked, would it? Because presumable it would have had to have been diagnosed.

All I'm saying is that to jump from an overdose to pneumonia being the cause is a bit of a jump since we're all sitting here without accurate details and making our own minds up in what we want to believe. And yes, I still believe it is a leap of faith to be saying pneumonia is the direct cause at this stage.

Comes from a family representative, who was relayed this by the police. News has reported it.

It's a little closer than random news reporters with no connection to the incident or any additional ammount of information than we had.

It's more complicated than saying one or the other were a cause. It's possible, for instance, that he took a combination of sleeping pills that are not really recommended or considered safe but that he was accustomed to, but due to the health problems caused by pneumonia or maybe even medication he was on for that illness, it turned out to be more than his body could handle.

It's just looking like an increasingly complex cause of death.

I had that feeling too. Got home about an hour ago, and saw that on TV right when I walked in the door. It actually hit a little harder than I thought it would. Just dark, dreary, rainy, with thousands of flashes of camera's, and a bodybag.

Ugh..
