I think you missed the point.

Why would you recast a dead character? And historically, the villains in the Batman movies die. Except Riddler and Freeze I think.

In the crap movies, yes. In the comics, no. The joker should never have died in the Burton movie in my opinion. Completely wrong.

Wow, and his career really just began. I thought he was going to be the next Brando. Sad. And I think the people already judging what happened are worse than those worrying about TDK. From the interviews it seemed Ledger genuinely cared for the project so I doubt he ruined the franchise's future.

Pretty sad. He seemed like an all around good guy, and a good actor to boot. The news I was watching said that after he played The Joker in Dark Knight he became paranoid and actually afraid of the moraless character he was playing. Pretty crazy.

correct about everything

Too bad then that the vast majority of people don't give a shit what happens in the comics and knowing The Joker won't die is indeed a spoiler.

I don't know why people are so quick to assume it was suicide. it sounds like he was having serious problems with sleep and was taking tons of sleeping aid drugs. he was probably just desperate for sleep and overdid it. you'd like to think that he wouldn't intentionally do himself in with a two year old daughter.

I think it's painfully obvious that GAF knows very little about depression or suicide. There are many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc. that commit suicide every day.

So sad, way too young to go. Who knows what happend, but I hope he didn't take his own life. R.I.P.

Hence the spoiler tags, genius.

historically, producers/directors have been kind of weird when actors die in post-production, whether it in how they edit it, promote it ect - which is kind of goofy, imo, because death is as common as anything. its not disrepectful to go with the film as originally planned.

the framework for the batman trilogy was already in place. i really think they should go along with it as originally planned and recast it, unless they feel the changes are genuinely making a better film

What you're missing though, is that unlike every single person in this thread, the directors and producers are usually good friends with the deceased. They have personal feelings and emotions they need to work through, just like the rest of us.

I can't believe people are calling ledger selfish. sure he left a daughter behind but depression is worst then what you guys are making it out to be. This guys had a shitty schedule, lack of sleep. and was paranoid for about a couple of months now. :(

They recast Rachel and she was a minor role - I can see The joker being recast

yea really. I would recommend Firefox even if adblock plus is the only extension used. Firefox prevents depressing ads.

Exactly, we'll know when the autopsy report hits, it's pretty much useless guessing what happened. Nothing from his life seems to point at drugs though, maybe I just don't follow him enough.
And to the guys pissed about my remark, believe it or not, I haven't seen him anywhere besides some TV series where he was a warrior or something, it was in the league of "Hercules" and "Xena". Basicly, I don't watch movies much/at all.

I read this on another website:

Edit: This was likely not written by THE Jason Lee, but it was written a few years ago anyway so even if it's true, it may not be relevant to what's happening now. This is also true of the blind item.

i understand that. if nolan and co. can't bring themselves to go with the trilogy as originally planned due to deep rooted personal reasons, i can dig that. but whenever it's to be PC, y'know, "out of respect" then its kind of a cop-out.

another thing to factor in is that i'm sure ledger's performance will be inimitable. but i think its something else they should bite the bullet on

Yeah. It's better than starting Batman 3 with Batman going
LOLOLOL I FINALLY DEFEATED JOKER THAT WAS TOUGH without showing anything.
Joker has to be recast or Nolan will make making his film trilogy lesser.

Careful, I got banned for suggesting that here.

Some of you really need to relax. You have no problem discussing where the body is, and what's on the ceiling, and TMZ having people hanging out on the street, but Batman is riling you up?

I apologize, yes it is horrible that he has passed. But my initial reaction was skimming the article for batman references. Call me a horrible person if you want

Iadien

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
Supposedly this is one of the last photos taken of him. He doesn't look to good here.

I read this on another website:

"I went to Heath Ledger's house once (no, not because I "hang out with celebrities"; it was only because he lived, at the time, in my neighborhood and we had heard that there was a party nearby at "some dude's house") and when I met him someone called his phone. I asked, "Who was that", and his reply was, "My dealer". Yes, indeed, it was in fact "his dealer". The dude was on the phone with his cocaine dealer. I couldn't believe it, and being the (sometimes) bold person that I am, I then asked, "Oh, so you're into that sorta thing, huh?" He said, "Yeah", and I walked out. It was pathetic. I couldn't believe it. I had heard that "a lot of celebrities were doing 'coke'", but that pretty much sealed it for me."
- Jason Lee, on Heath Ledger

and this was a Blind Item just now revealed to be Heath Ledger:

All one person.
link?

i have never said stupid shit like that. If you gonna talk about batman and the joker, just talk about it in the batman thread. Its obvious the nerds that posting about the batman shit cares more about the movie then ledger. Its really unsettling.

I bumped the batman topic. Lets talk about recasting joker for batman 3 nonsense and so forth there and keep this more on Heath, the man
