I expect the mainstream review sites to really push the gorgeous visuals and downplay the gameplay elements.
If for some reason the game does not score particularly well then I expect to see social media posts from fanboys questioning whether the concept of review scores is still valid (as we saw with Knack.)
I like this logic for the wrong reasons. The media has been taking a dump on this game for quite a while and have gone out of their way to make it known that they don't like what they see AND yet, some people are working under the impression that the game is a media darling.
You are free to disagree, of course. I just happen to be very cynical about game reviews having grown up reading them in the 80s and 90s.
I see it scoring like the first AC. A love it or hate it type game.
There actually is kind of a lot riding on it so I doubt Sony would let it go out straight up bad.
Except most previews are based on a small portion of the game. To a story-driven game like The Order, a short demo can't really do the game any justice. To know how the game will actually turn out, we can't do anything but waiting7/10 in average when it comes to reviews I guess. Impressions so far have been pretty lukewarm and past tells us that devs usually don't turn that around with the finally game.
This was one of my main points as well. Ready at Dawn were arguable the best developer on PSP.
People always talk bad about Knack but its pretty fun.

Well from your post there is only one thing that can be reasoned - you will not trust any review unless it's a negative one. You're free to think that way. You're definitely not alone in that thinking. I am just saying, I find that logic awkward and amusing at the same time.
Yeah I liked seeing the Daxter screen in you article! Can you tell me if there are any long uninterrupted portions of gameplay in The Order? Or do cutscenes or those parts where you barely have any control constantly breaking things up?
I generally don't trust reviews from entities that have some sort of incentive- financial, review copies, whatever. I found I was happiest when I just stopped letting reviews influence my purchase decisions. I just play what I want to play regardless of how somebody else thinks about the game.
Be that as it may- this thread asked how we think The Order will be perceived. I am simply offering my opinion. Glad it amuses you.
Never.. The demo goes for about 40 minutes and i'd say that there was about 2-3 minutes of non-playable cutscenes...
I think the problem is that some of the gameplay parts look like uncontrollable cutscenes when you just watch it.
More hyped for the review thread now then the game. I'll like the game I'm sure but the thread...man, that thread is going to be epic. It will start out half civil for about 20 posts then the drive-bys will start. Feelings will get hurt and after some QTEs, people will start shit posting. Bish will come in and start sending people to the graveyard. Juniors will be the first to go and the smart members will refrain from entering into the fray but a person can only hold their tongue for so long and then BAM! Oblivion.
Games going to good, though. Couldn't give two shits about review scores.
