  • Half Life 3 announcement

  • The industry will rebound driven by PC Gaming primarily
Yes

Obviously as long as they want to stay in business

Goes without saying
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong will be a 2025 title
It might slip to 2026

Yes
  • Exclusives will become a thing of the past for Sony and Microsoft
Yes
  • (wait and see with Nintendo but expecting its 'when' not 'if')

GTA will almost certainly not be in 2025 imo, or at least will be released in the latter half.

2K wouldn't be releasing the new Mafia in that year given how much their sister company's game (GTA6) stands to cannibalize that game's sales.

Does Sony have another game coming out this year other than Ghost of Yotei? That's probably not Day 1 on PC but for sure will come eventually.

So sounds like PS will still have exclusives then. They might be timed but they are still exclusive.

My guess(green correct, red incorrect):
  • Half Life 3 announcement
  • The industry will rebound driven by PC Gaming primarily
  • Ubisoft to undergo significant transformation
  • GTA VI won't be a 2025 title
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong will be a 2025 title
  • AI will have its Icarus moment
  • Exclusives will become a thing of the past for Sony and Microsoft (wait and see with Nintendo but expecting its 'when' not 'if')
AI isn't relevant enough to get an Icarus moment this year.

MS won't even have time to get Halo on PS5, much less seeing Astro on Xbox Series. If he just means "Playstation will dump gaas day 1 and single player after a year on PC" then yeah, but timed and console exclusives shall remain. Nintendo will never go multiplat.

Industry growth will be driven by Nintendo, Sony, and some 3rd party publishers, not "PC." If GTA does release this year it'll be Sony and Rockstar providing more of that growth as it likely will not launch on PC day 1. We need better tracking of digital purchases to better disprove that the PC was the primary growth vector when the time comes to argue about this. Nintendo predicted the upcoming industry growth(and preceding downturn) early in 2023 so these easy guesses aren't impressing me.

It seems like a list of tame predictions then one or two to get people posting threads on gaming forums

I can see Nintendo putting out Splatoon PC version, but nothing else that's not a multiplayer focused game.

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
This guy is a fucking joke. Why anyone takes what he says seriously is beyond me. Anyway, Sony not making exclusives anymore? Like they did last year with their PC releases??? They obviously won't release exclusive on the Xbox console or Switch 2 but PC for sure.

Again, why anyone takes what this guy says is a disgrace. He's a fucking moron.
Still gets enough airtime here, so his GAFfe still works.

I think the reason why is because, like many other sources, he is entertaining to many. He knows that, so that's his sales model.

I think Sony games will be day and date on PC with the majority of their 1st party titles by the end of the generation. Possibly on Xbox as well if they don’t disappear.

Can’t imagine Nintendo putting their software on other platforms. That’s literally the reason people own their console. It’s definitely not their superior hardware. Especially considering in the next 4 years it feels like every company will have a handheld.

Could be some stuff that is unannounced like Astro Bot last year, but even if day one PC across the board is in the cards at some point, that isn't a prediction that really makes sense for 2025 unless Sony has a massive shift in strategy.

Despite my initial reaction thinking this was about a new Kid Icarus game I figured out what he meant. I guess I don't get what he means by it. Devs are going to rely on it too much?
I think you're already getting weird shit from AI in chatGPT and such, hallucinations I think they call it. And Midjourney hasn't really improved, and Sora is a let down.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
AI will have a “recalibration” moment, but it’s not going anywhere.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see GTA VI delayed.

My biggest prediction for 2025 is that I’ll keep playing retro games I never got around to trying and it’ll be awesome.

Also Metroid Prime 4.

I think Sony games will be day and date on PSN Plus with the majority of their 1st party titles by the end of the generation. Possibly on Xbox Gamepass as well if they don’t disappear.

Can’t imagine Nintendo putting their software on Service Day one.

I remember when this was the "unbiased, common sense" rhetoric of the Internet.

It's impressive, if MS sticks a broomstick up the consumer's ass, I guarantee we'll have articles saying "the future is for companies to stick a broomstick up the consumer's ass, see the reasons why this is good"

Sony has already said about ten times that it is GaaS day one on PC and Single Player exclusive for a long time or sometimes forever (Demons Souls)

Just like Sony said ten times that "day one service" is unfeasible.

But even so, the guys keep repeating the same rhetoric, with just one word changed...

  • Half Life 3 announcement

Seems like more and more "insiders" are suddenly predicting this, plus there was that G-Man tweet, so maybe it's actually going to happen this year.

  • The industry will rebound driven by PC Gaming primarily

Doubt.

  • Ubisoft to undergo significant transformation

He gets no points for guessing something this obvious.

  • GTA VI won't be a 2025 title

Sadly he's probably right about this one.

  • Hollow Knight: Silksong will be a 2025 title

iwanttobelieve.gif

  • AI will have its Icarus moment

This is pure ideologically driven wishful thinking. AI may not live up to all the hype, but it has already been hugely transformative and isn't headed for some NFT-esque great fall.

  • Exclusives will become a thing of the past for Sony and Microsoft (wait and see with Nintendo but expecting its 'when' not 'if')

In 2025? lol. Maybe for Microsoft, but not until at least next gen for Sony, if ever, and maybe in like 2050 for Nintendo.

I predict he'll spend most of the year watching another dude (probably a chud) bang his wife.

Do you really believe that Sony is going to go full third party in 2025?
Not full 3rd party but I have been saying awhile Sony will go day and date with their exclusives to PC one day, honestly thought it would have been sooner

A lot of PC money out there to be had

Yea, hard to say.

Maybe something like an Ubisoft-tier developer utilizing it too early, in too big a way, and it blows up in their face.

We already see it with James Cameron's AI upscaled movies. They look awful.

Rebound from what exactly? Both Sony and Nintendo are making more profit in the game industry than anyone has ever made before.

And has he heard there’s a new Nintendo console coming out this year?

I'd love to see it happen especially since they are integrating trophy support, but that would be a significant shift in strategy from what Hulst was saying to stock holders just a few weeks ago. I think non-gaas games from first party studios, that don't have ties to external entities like MLB, Lego, etc., those are going to continue to be timed exclusives on PS. I just can't see that changing any time soon.

I can see Sony potentially putting a game or two on the Switch 2 but not Xbox. At this point in time I have more faith in Half Life 3 releasing than Silksong.

Every console Nintendo releases is Russian Roulette. Why bother in 8 years? They can clean house with a retro sub service on TVs, PC expansion in China. Can sell everyone motion enabled controllers for any hardware interface option they can think of and your controller connects to TV, PC, mobile or cloud. Then sell cheap consoles as well.

Half Life 3 is wishful thinking until proven otherwise. We go through the song and dance every year and it never happens.

AI has already overreached, a gazillion times over. The stuff that generative AI generates is almost universally awful. And everyone can spot it a mile away. It's all over the new COD for example and it looks like butt.

Guys like him have this idea that the game industry is in full throated collapse because people got laid off at the companies.

I don't see how that translates to PC gaming being the place that fixes that.

Silksong 2025?

silksong-copium-cosplay-v0-ibfn20i9jysc1.jpg

We all know Rockstar still hasn't confirmed a date for GTAVI because they are afraid it's going to be on the same month as Silksong.
They are waiting for Team Cherry to make the first move.
