Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

They can change drastically and completely especially with so little shown. Just like Chunlis v trigger which turned her into Morrigan in showings to just a generic multi hitting install in the final game.

You are really reaching. The difference between that and the situation at hand is that Chun-Li's v trigger change was quite early in development, SFV didn't even have a release window at the time of the change. Right now the game has an actual date, not much is going to change skillset wise for anybody. The more pressing issue is the hud and the visuals cause last time we saw the game both of those didn't look good.

Those are really the two things I wanted to see improved. Maybe better stages as well.

I like incoming mixups alot, it kind of defines the MVC3 metagame.

It is really ridiculous in MVC3 though since you can layer on 5 mixups in one incoming with Zero.

By stating what happened with Capcoms last fighter and their pattern of showing a game early and then keeping it in hiding for a long period of time?

Game looks like caca. I'm sure they'll apply some UE4 filter to make it looks less caca.

Point being, "things can change during a development process" is obvious, often for a well-thought out reason if it detrimentally affects gameplay, and given it's always a possibility, a pretty stupid complaint to make, especially with a statement as blanket as "we don'y know what they will be like."

Because it works more similar to the V Trigger system in SFV.

You use your V Skill/Infinity Stone as a special move and it builds up some V Gauge/Infinity Stone meter. You can also build the meter by getting hit (ie. a comeback factor).

Then you activate the V Trigger/Infinity Surge to have an install ability for a set duration of time.

?

Same with the groove system?

you can get alpha cancels, or extra damage, etc. with meter.

My issue with your analogy was V Skill / Trigger are uniquely tied to characters, unlike in this game where its character agnostic.

I mean there's a reason they haven't shown a full match, it's not to wet your appetite. In other news BN just announced DBZ and are already showing full matches. It's almost as if one developer has their shit together.

Or one developer announced the game closer to release.

The gem system in this game is just a shared V-trigger system.Grooves are completely different. The gems don't drastically change the way a character plays like the CvS2 groove system does (hops, run, short hops, super jumps, meter charge, rage system, etc.) The gem system works exactly like the V-trigger system except its tied to items rather than the characters. You build Gem/V-trigger by using the gem skill or v-skill and when taking damage. When that bar fills you get the Gem surge/V-trigger.

I don't think that's right. A simple google search shows the comparison was clear in the developers minds. But perhaps you two know better than them?

Or maybe they are trying not to bring up comparisons to SFV since it was so fucked up? Have you played both those games? If not go play them and watch the gameplay trailer of infinite and then tell me what it's closer to.

So getting hit by firebrands unblockable on your next incoming character after he one shot your first character isn't dumb to you?

It is dumb. Marvel is dumb. Guard breaks were also ridiculous in MVC2. Marvel has been stupid since the beginning of time. That's why a lot of people gravitate towards it.

Really really weird to see people delight at the idea of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite being a failure. And actually mean it too. Sad.

i feel real good when i unblockable people so eh, what comes around goes around
...but also i slowed it down so its only viable in certain scenarios instead of off p. much anything in my own thing anyways so eh. even though it's already escapable by a large majority of chars who are competitively viable.

also been going stir crazy while tryin to think of any other tweaks i need to do for v.1a for AE so i ended up doing some more dumb reskins

I have. Played CVS2 competitively, and play SF5 casually. I just think you guys are wrong, but it's alright. Like I said, maybe you know better than the devs.

It'd be one thing if we actually knew anything real about this game engine and how it works, or had even seen more then a collective 8 minutes of game footage.

Everybody is bitching about the superficial shit.

The problem is that Capcom hasn't given us any reason to have any faith in them in regarding their games. Particularly their fighting games as of late.

Yeah I think this is a big factor that some are ignoring.
If you are good with Capcom's current output that is fine. But for a lot of people as of late, capcom has been disappointing left and right. I know for me personally, this is coming from someone who still buys all their games despite the abuse.

A lot of people are bitching at the fact that all signs point to this game being made on a shoestring budget. I don't know about the rest of ya'll but I think this series deserves better than that.

As was said earlier first impressions mean a lot.
It's kind of sad that a legacy series like MvC hasn't managed the hype one trailer of a DBZ fighting game has. Then you couple that with people feeling the showings thus far are disappointing for MVCi and I understand the current "war" going on.

I want MVC:I to be a success. I also want it to be a good game.
Right now I think the factor is capcom hasn't shown enough good to convince people that their game is good. As i've listed before, it's been a lot of changes and compromises for fans and the leaked roster was the last straw for many.

Hopefully the PSX showing can turn things around.

This is shades of DmC all over. People (in this case some fans while DmC it was media & fans) completely dismissing the legitimate concerns fans have about the game prior to release. When that game bombed they blamed the fans for not giving it a chance. I've been here before.

I think people are getting it twisted.

No one should want a Marvel vs Capcom game to fail. I'm still thanking my lucky stars that it's being made, period.

But people want lazy ass, low budget, incomplete, DLC driven, dumbed down games aimed at a casual audience that'll play for 3 days then sell it back to Gamestop to fail.

And it's looking like Infinite is the latter for a lot of people :(

I think that goes a lot into what Anth0ny just posted above you.

It seems like a lot of people are expecting the latter until proven otherwise

Yeah. Marvel's whole "Only focus on MCU stuff" is really getting annoying.
Miss me with that shit, the picks are just fucking uninspiring. No BP vision, MODOK, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Kamala Khan, Elektra, Songbird, w/ spidey villains and geniune surprising picks is what kills it for me. Along with the garbage and dull look the game has.

Even if this game was X men vs capcom it would still have major problems. All you folks saying "MUH MCUS!!!!!!!" need to get a fucking grip, pure /tv/ level trash posts that add nothing.

Fox has the rights to like 200 characters the other 9800 are technically mcu or under the control of disney. Stop this trash

I don't get the angst about it.

People should root against complacency/bad work/disregard for the fandom...all things this game represents to some people for various reasons.

Yes it's looks like Mahvel, but why should we congratulate them (even though I'm excited to play this myself) on systems and mechanics that have been created and done in a previous iteration of a MvC game from 6 years ago? And if all these "people" wanted that kind of game they can literally boot up MvC3/MvC2 right now to quench that thirst because let's get one thing straight - no game should ever pander to thier audience but instead think of what they want to create and innovate. Something which MvCi will do with thier gem system.

Hmm, so much of this could be equally applied to Street Fighter X Tekken. We'll see.

This.

Also keep your expectations in check for Sony peeps, I bet we get a less-than-2min trailer and thats it, I highly doubt there will be any sort of stage presentation or something. I could (and hope?) be wrong.

It's a capcom fighting game. It's audience includes a lot of people who rather the game be popular than good, because that's more important.

Yeah I agree with his post fully. Pushing back against bad choices ,providing actual legit criticism, and setting expectations where they should be is good. However, some people have definitely fallen into "I HOPE this game is bad" camp.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm not talking about giving Capcom the shit they deserve when they do dumb stuff. I'm talking about people who take delight in the fact that the game itself has a lot of potential missteps in regards to roster, gameplay choices, graphics, etc. It feels like console wars gamefaqs level stuff.

The real footage will come from people playing the game on the show floor and impressions. I only expect a trailer with some character reveals at the conference. Hopefully the trailer looks better than the previous one.

Well, Capcom is going to have their own showcase tomorrow so I don't think we should be concern about it. (well, I assumed that they would)
