Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster Discussion Thread

Interesting, you get a free wallbounce if you active switch from air-to-ground and the active switch attack connects.

They're probably just turned off as they usually are by default.

I hope so since they had subtitles at victory pose, but not when they picked characters or intro dialogues. That's a disconcerting.

The mechanics of this game were never in doubt.

True. I've never doubted the mechanics, and yet I feel there was so much love put into it that we all for the first time are starting to understand. This is why i said "I hate to say it"... but we kinda all misunderstood them at this point, but now got a great view of its beauty. This stream was needed.

I think they've done a pretty damn good job of justifying the return to 2v2 TBH.

The assist character thing is inevitable and only further stratifies top tier characters into more relatively powerful teams of three (versus teams of two).

Combofiend talking about accessibility. LOL!! 3v3 isn't that fucking complicated.
Yeah this is just PR lip service bull shit talking down 3v3.

We have a game called DBZ that is 3v3 and accessible in the same god damn show floor.

Even in Marvel 3 you didn't have just assist characters, even someone like Dr Doom was a capable character on the team. If your game has "assist characters" like Marvel 2 then that is a game balance issue not a game design issue.

Analyze a team like Vergil/Doom/Strider, every character work off each other in every combination. That's how a team is supposed to be in a 3v3.

This stream is selling me a lot on the game. I'll never not be a bit disappointed with its base roster but... this game is gonna be crazy interesting to play and watch. It seems like it's a bit more mechanically interesting and well thought out than mvc3

I wouldn't say that. There are still problems with this game with the presentation and roster (DLC plans go with that roster problem). The gameplay just looks great and fun.

Yeah this. Just because it's PR that doesn't make it false. DBF suffers from extremely simple combos and inputs so it can afford being 3v3

unfortunarely their marketing department is completely oblivious and will continue to push chun li and the amazing story mode instead of what makes the game good.

we'll probably hear nothing on the game until september.

Oh no i was definitely talking about the mechanics strictly... dont get me started bro on dem models. lol

I don't remember him saying that? He was saying how some characters just became meat shields or reliant on asissts and not actual characters.

In that little thing he was saying how it is simpler to have 2v2 and a stone than 3v3 and that it would be easier for people to jump in. That most certainly accessibility.

Interesting that both MVCI and DBZ went for KOF's mechanic of increasing power stock limit on character KO.

Gameplay wise at least the game is looking solid.

Captain Marvel looks so sick. SO many tools.

Combofiend was referencing MvC2, not 3. Cause in 3 the assists were not unplayable characters for the most part.
I think Combo's point is that with 3 characters one inevitably becomes the odd one out and is there to support your preferable point character. Even in Marvel 3 that was the case for the most part outside of x/Vergil/Doom teams, which creates a better case for an optimal team vs. more viable teams because you can concentrate more of the best characters onto a single team.

It's a pretty robust argument TBH.

i don't even see this selling as well as MVC3.

I'm curious about MVC3 and UMVC3' sales? did anyone have the information ready here?

Edited: I think it might sell more than some people expected it to be since it have MCU appeals so kids probably want to pick it up.

He also made it clear that their goal was to lower barrier to entry, not a skills gap. (Marvel always had a buffer that SF did not.)

Okay watching the Capcom stream with Combofiend and Yipes. This game looks to have many many many layers of complexity. It's going to be hype once people get their hands on it.

I wish visually it was a bit more crazy as DB Fighter Z has spoiled me. But I'm excited.

Thanos command normal overhead immediately cancelled into exchange and you start with a low attack.

VERY COOL!

2.2 for Marvel 3, 1.2 for UMVC3.

Anyone else think the brand new characters look way better than the ones imported from mvc3?
Nah it's really just the Marvel side.

Iron Man, Nova, Dr Strange (those animations), Rocket look sick. It's really only Captain America that looks wack from the returning cast, maybe Hawkeye because of the redesign but he's fine IMO.

Ryu, Chris, Chun Li and Dante look wack.

From a total casual fighting player, the real thing that makes me hyped for DBZ and not this, is how incredible is the presentation in DBZ is compared to this. The energy effects, the smoke and how the fights actually look like 2 incredible powerful beings fighting, with all the destruction, finishers and backgrounds that actually are affected by the fight.

I don't know which one will be better in terms of mechanics, but when I watch a DBZ match I'm in constant awe, when I was this is like "Oh, is just another Capcom fighting game".

This just looks...drab? I guess that's the word.

Hmph... They made Nova more viable... I mean I still dont give 2 ducks about him, but its nice to see these smaller tier characters get some new tools.

Thanks. I wonder how much they sold UMVC3 PS4/XB1/PC? I would imagine about 150k-250k?

Also, I do think MVCI might reach UMVC3's numbers because Marvel have a huge brand-awareness now and the kids and MCU fans probably want to pick it up now since they are quite popular due to superheroes era. I might be wrong on that matters. It's all depends on the reviews, words of mouth, etc.
