Imagine if all of Sega's Dream Cast's, Saturn's, Genesis' and Master System's library are all of a suddenly available to play on GPU via X-cloud on your phones.
Damn that would be a nice get for Game Pass subscribers.

I'm having trouble sifting through all the sarcasm posts. If GENDA is buying majority shares, that means Wednesday was always a hoax right?

Someone said Genda just bought the arcade pachinko division. The video games division is still there. The whole thing seems like an unrealistic fan dream if you ask me.

Just saw these stats in era

here's 2019 breakdown of software sales in Japan by publisher:

01. Nintendo - 7.903.662 <29,42%>
02. Pokemon Co. - 3.216.372 <11,97%>
03. Bandai Namco Games - 2.543.566 <9,47%>
04. Square Enix - 2.288.930 <8,52%>
05. Capcom - 1.576.212 <5,87%>
06. Sony Interactive Entertainment - 1.290.509 <4,80%>
07. Sega - 878.618 <3,27%>
08. Konami - 798.504 <2,97%>
09. Koei Tecmo - 628.410 <2,34%>
10. Microsoft Game Studios - 518.952 <1,93%>
11. Electronic Arts - 507.476 <1,89%>
12. Atlus - 470.285 <1,75%>
13. Level 5 - 433.404 <1,61%>
14. Ubisoft - 396.122 <1,47%>
15. Marvelous - 311.499 <1,16%>
16. From Software - 302.470 <1,13%>

18. Spike Chunsoft - 219.447 <0,82%>
19. Nippon Columbia - 176.539 <0,66%>
20. Warner Entertainment Japan - 161.596 <0,60%>
00. Other - 1.964.040 <7,31%>
00. All Publishers - 26.860.960 <100,00%>

This is interesting that Sega and Atlus have 5% of the marketshare in Japan. If MS can get Koei Tecmo who has also had a strong relationship with the Xbox brand you are at 7.36%. That near 2% marketshare from MS must be from Minecraft correct? If you can leverage Minecraft players into getting Gamepass then you have a chance in japan to succeed. Between MS/Sega/Atlus/Koei that is more marketshare than anyone publisher aside from Nintendo, gamefreak and Bandai. its actually more than Square/Enix who is a well known powerhouse in japanese gaming.

Also since Sega arcades are still popular I think people would be more willing to buy a Sega Series Xbox or subscribe to Gamepass if it has the Sega name behind it. I read somewhere that the arcades will be sold to genda but will retain the Sega name.

Not saying MS would overtake Nintendo but maybe this gen they could see moderate success like the Sega Saturn once had in japan . then just keep adding subscribers in the years ahead.

What’s gonna happen earlier, Sony taking control of Silent Hill franchise or Microsoft buying Sega on Wednesday?
Castlevania pachinko machine by Konami

I wonder why - considering Konami's deal with gaming and gambling - they did not produce MGS or Silent Hill gatchas. One spin and "Big Boss" companion :messenger_tears_of_joy:

It's an interesting analysis but the flaw is that we can't assume that market share will stay the same if they were to go exclusive to Xbox. I don't think Persona 5 Royal sells anywhere near as well if it isn't on PlayStation and likewise Sega wouldn't have been able to release Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games, which was a big contributor to their marketshare

On top of this Koei Tecmo is very very cosy with Nintendo right now, and I don't think they want to end that relationship.

Another rumor from 4chan. this rumor though was floating around for decades, Microsoft need a Japanese studio for the Japanese market, they are going first in the next Tokyo Game Show this Wednesday, will they finally confirm this old rumor?

This video explains the long history of Microsoft with SEGA

Man, these Q Drops got really weird near the end.

I advertised for Google Stadia

A Tribute to old Sega games cancelled on PS4. Probably to be reborn on Series Sega :messenger_sunglasses::messenger_beermugs: :messenger_sunglasses:

I feel like the offsets of persona not being on playstation would be offset by them putting it on switch. I feel like Microsoft and Nintendo are cozy enough we would see persona 5 r and p4g release on switch if they bought sega

Saw on REEE:

El Analista de bits ended up breaking by accident that something will be revealed on the 17th, this is what he said in a removed tweet.

" On February 17, Xbox fans are going to have some very interesting content on the channel. I can't say more until that day. Thanks to Xbox for giving me early access so I can prepare my coverage in advance!"

He also said in a spanish forum " Until February 17 at 6:00 p.m. I cannot speak, but it will surely leak earlier due to the bulk of days left. But come on, I think it is VERY top for Xbox Series."

Well, I suppose as long as people keep teasing vague things until something happens, they'll never truly be wrong.

I don't get the fanboy obsession with MS buying Sega. Those games are already available on their platforms, for the most part.

At this point I gotta think this is less about "securing games", and more about potentially taking them away from other platforms for some of these guys.

no I just want to see the world burn :)

I'd rather see Sega remain independent. But if I'm being 100% honest I believe we're entering a period of consolidation in the gaming industry.

And given that, MS is preferable vs say TenCent. By a long shot.

Not really - Tencent isn't ruled by Americans so they won't enforce Reset values into games.

We don't want to see Persona going TLOU II.
