Monster Hunter Wilds Launches on Steam with Over 1.38 Million Concurrent Players and 'Mixed' Reviews (48% Positive)

I think a lot of PC users underestimate the PS5 numbers. It will break and surpass the 1m. Units in Japan including digital + whatever will do in the rest of the world, which will be significant

Im confused here. You think ps5 will eclipse 1 million concurrent players?

I can't see it myself.

Is there a lore reason why RE Engine can't handle open worlds? Is the engine stupid?
During the DD2 fiasco people were speculating that the game had no culling at all (everything is rendered no matter if it's not "on camera") and that the LOD levels were always at max, meaning that the grass that was on the other side of the world looked super nice for no fucking reason.

I hope it's not the case because those would be the most stupid reasons for a game to run like ass.

Yes, performance is rough. However, a bunch of the reviews come most from people who can't play the game as the people are playing didn't leave a review just yet. I expect things to reflect the reality of the reviews in another 3 days after players have finished the low rank hunts.

Kamiya made a deal with a powerful demon in his youth to acquire his development skills when he was a teenager. Devil May Cry is inspired by his life story, pseudo-autobiographical. He is cursed with incredible talent, but in exchange, none of his games will sell and the studios he works with will slowly fall into disrepair. He just recently returned to Capcom, bringing with him the horrible curse that tainted Capcom during the 360 era, Clover, Platinum and now CapDemon.

DF video suggest this is not the case as the games slow down when the camera moves and the textures entering the frame take some time to load.

I'd speculate that RE Engine excells at small, contained scenes with few interactive elements but as soon as we're on a big area it loses it. That's why MH Rise did well and why MH Wilds suffers. But don't know much about tech so I wouldn't say this is an informed take anyway.

The game had two beta tests, if their PC were underspecs, they would have known by now. You think they would just spend 70 bucks to review bomb this game? This is nonsense.

Do you really think that everyone was aware of or even joined the beta test if they were? You have a lot of faith in people. Just take a look at the low-effort reviews, I suppose they’re practically oozing with intelligence only you can see.

I agree. Im sure majority of the numbers will come from Ps5. MH is extremely popular in Japan and Asia and it is much prefered to be played in consoles.
Any source on that? Because in the last year Capcom sold more units on PC than on all consoles combined (54% vs 40%).

I guess you could say it was historically played on consoles since it’s been a handheld series for a long time but those days nothing indicates it. Wilds is already at 3 times the peak of World on PC.

sold majority, unplayable majority as well LOL!

Been interesting to see when it peaks.

If it peaks in the next couple of hours that means it's most popular in China. If it peaks in about 7 hours that means most popular in Europe and America.

Jesus what a monster! Might outsell elden ring and maybe even Hogwarts!

Well we will see numbers after a month. But i think it will be big on console especially ps5. But yes I agree its historically played on console especially handheld that is why many are use to seeing the game on console or handheld.

Have all their games suffered on pc? Crazy to think their largest platform is the one with the most issues.
It varies. Generally their games run better on PC but PC gamers have higher standards. Like with RE4 the game was best on PC and the consoles had issues but the game still was very short of a really good PC port (think Kingdom Come 2, Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty). MH World was best on PC but the game ran like shit on consoles and PCs so it was unacceptable. RE Village had DRM issues they needed to patch that one was worst than the console versions. MH Rise was best on PC and was pretty good but that was a switch game so it better run well.

Probably hitting 5 million on all systems then. Shame it's sinking to Pokémon levels of quality with every million more the games sell.

PC fans complaining about graphics always make me smile.

Newsflash: You're paying for hardware that can do a lot of work. But that isn't the same as always getting the work (graphically) you want done.

Imo the game is poorly optimized on every platform, it's worth waiting a few weeks or months to get a better experience.

Might as well wait for the first title updates that will add some proper challenges.
95% of steam users have GPUs lesser than Series X .. of course it will run like shit
Always surprised by all those brazen, wild lies that nobody ever seems to care about.

Even the 4070 family is more than 5% of Steam users according to the last survey.

Very dry. We just got used to it. Nothing to choose from for me. In 360/ps3 days, we had tons of games each month.
Balls deep in Avowed. KCD2 also installed.

Skipping this otherwise won’t be able to play those. Both of those are in better shape too.

Where's the thread where someone said the game would peak at 300-400k? I should have made a note of it.
Usually such figures are written by people who forget that on the world map there is China with its 1.4 billion population, and this game is so popular there that at one time Monster Hunter Online was released only there and not in the rest of the world - I wonder why...

As expected, Monster Hunter is a juggernaut on PC. It will easily reach the top 5 ever when it comes to overall CCU.

I will play it after a couple of title updates, no rush. The online community will stay healthy for several months, if not years.

Nonsense
because the graphics are the problem... Right.

Troll.

Nah its the assumption that because you've paid a ton for hardware it entitles you to always a have a certain result.

I was just pointing out that you're not immune to the same sort of performance/visual variation as any other group because the nature of the workload is the real difference-maker.

I'm sure it'll get patched up and improved performance-wise over time, but I'm sorry to say if a game is "heavy" on system requirements and yet doesn't look as good as you'd like, then chances are slim to none that its going to improve on both counts. Its clearly built in a way that demands x to give y result.

You can't optimize your way out of everything, it is what it is sometimes.

And that's why they have literally zero incentive to optimize.
It's probably doing similar numbers on console too.

A half broken piece of full price software runs terrible on all platforms and you make this about imaginary pc entitlement. holy shit.....
You´re a customer, get over this retarded platform warring and demand that you get good quality for your money.

I'm not sure I would be so comfortable with the success just yet. The response to this game, from performance to visuals to gameplay, is so negative that we might see an abrupt drop in sales.
