How is this fairytail still being tossed around when we already have the final benchmark tool and sys-monitors......
short version: no, absolutely not
long version: the performance ist still garbage with 99% GPU load while the accompanying cpu is barely at 50% over all cores.....

No magic simulation logic performance hurdles, this is all on the engine being poo poo for this task.

Let's hold off on jumping to conclusions until the final release. I've seen some benchmarks where CPU usage was close to 100%, but it's still early.

You don't have to preorder it, and if the final build is still subpar, we'll than you can skip the game altogether.

Going by numbers from the official final benchmark tool is now "jumping to conclusions".
Aaaalright.

Its not CPU bound, i get 90%+ GPU usage while running the bench, scored 93fps in the benchmark.

To illustrate just how bad that is i get 80fps in Cyberpunks benchmark with pathtracing and mods. Wilds just has shit GPU optimization.

Not saying it doesn't have issues but comparing different games, genres to games not even out of the door is kinda insane.

Had to drop to medium settings, enable frame gen and set DLSS set to performance, but I got up to around 80 FPS. 4070 at 4k.

To the game’s credit it still looked pretty good.

If you lack such basic technological understanding that every comparison that doesn't have the same name on both sides of the screen is a"dishonest comparison" to you then you probably shouldn't discuss render tech like this at all.....

Yes comparing a game which was patched for five years is great. Just don't buy the game instead of insulting other people online would be a nice advice for you.

The comparison doesn't make any sense. Different engines, different genres, different goals and years of patches in between.
What are you even trying to say? Half of that has nothing to do with performance.
Yes asking for less dishonest comparisons is too much 🤣🤣.
I mean youre right, my comparison was very unfavourable towards CDPR, yet theyve still achieved a better result years ago than Capcom did with years of extra knowledge and collective advances in hardware and software development.

Youre acting like performance is something subjective, but you can objectively measure it and do a checklist of techniques used.

Funny thing is the patches made it harder to run.

Yea lets compare linear games to open world games next because performance is objectively measureable.

Controls are rough in general. The mount controls are a step back from Rise, which already weren't exactly great, and the map UI and controls are horrendous. For whatever reason MH is a franchise that prides itself on clunky, unintuitive control schemes.

It's dumb but you need to change the default control scheme from automatic to manual in order to make Seikret riding control like Palamutes. They for some dumbass reason decided to make it like wyvern riding from World.

I agree with the map too, but too early to say regarding the rest of the UI. I like the customization you can do in the main menu.

if you are so devoid of any tech know how that that you don't understand that it's an issue when an engine with near zero (apparent)current gen feature implementations in 2025 is forcing 2k GPUs to fall back to FG or drop settings and is heavier than an engine with probably the most advanced next gen lighting system out there (to stick with the "dishonest comparison") and still feel you're in a position to argue then there really.... really.... is no need for anyone to "insult" you.

I think we're going in circles, and we're clearly not going to see eye to eye on this. Let's leave it here. Also, you didn’t add anything to the conversation yourself, so I think we’re done.

All you do is guesswork while all I did was saying let's wait for the full release to really compare things. Go on with your passive aggressive behaviour. Fuck this discussing culture.

Pretending that going with the official benchmark tool the Devs have put out for people to... well benchmark their system performance for their release code and comparing the progress from the beta is "guesswork".

I'm very sorry for hurting your feelings by pointing out just how stupid that is.
You should probably write the Devs an angry letter about how they shouldn't allow people to do benchmarks with the benchmarking tools they released.

Not sure why youre bringing already nonexisting bugs to a performance comparison, that is not the subject at hand.

And it most definitely still is a good example for a lot of things, especially when it comes to tech, perhaps even the best when it comes to RT which wilds also uses, not that its easy to tell.
Yea lets compare linear games to open world games next because performance is objectively measureable.
Yes, we can absolutely do that, theres even youtube channels who make a living by doing benchmarks or so ive been told.

.
Do we actually know if Wilds is using any form of RT besides the implementation for reflections?
I don't see any aspects in the visuals that would hint in that direction. If they do anything for the GI with RT it's such a low sample rate that I honestly can't tell. I mean DD2 which runs on the same engine had RTGI but it was rather obvious there.

Yeah I was messing around with the settings and improved the mount a lot. The settings for this game are actually super robust.

I also used steam controller config to activate gyro aiming when I hold down L2 which lets you control the camera in focus mode while leaving your thumb free for face buttons, which is really nice.

No clue, whatever they use it for it has only a small performance impact so i dont think its used for GI since GI combined with lots of vegetation will always be really heavy.

I know itll have RT reflections on console, but i wouldnt be too surprised if the full release actually added some more RT stuff for PC, but i wouldnt bet on it, based on all the news theyve shared in the past months it seems they are heavily focused on improving performance as much as they can for the launch.

Even on the PC, fps in the village drops under 60 fps. Out in the field it seems to work ok.

Benchmarked it with the 4090, 9800x3d, 32 gigs of ddr5 6000 ram.

At Ultra settings 4k DLSS Quality with no frame generation and RT turned off average fps was about 90 fps, with huge dips in the village.
Roughly 105 average fps with same settings just at 1440p
Dropping it to High setting gave little back in terms of performance at both 4k and 1440p
With frame generation I was at 151 Ffps (Fake fps)

What's weird is that with frame generation on...the overall score was less than without it on the benchmark...even though the recorded fps was much higher. i dunno what that means really.

I understand. I'm not too sure what to say other than what I've said a thousand times. The version you are playing is from last summer. The game isn't finished. Try to keep your expectations in check. If that's still not good enough; there are always mods. It's no secret RE Engine games get fuckloads of mods.
The final release is very likely going to be downgraded even further for performance "optimization" reasons.

That's fair and square that you aint happy with the state of the game.

Comparing it to whole different genres is still stupid tho.

Would you agree that elden ring needs to be cheaper because the production values are lower than red dead 2? No because it's stupid.
I was very lound in Eldern Ring Thread about how shit and acient their engine are and how bad game performed and yes, i dont care If you game looks like shit, i dont care If its priced at Premium, BUT I ll expect at least a decent product, that you put some effort, since Worlds Capcom has been doing the bare minimum to optimize their MH games the same goes for FROM.

I use other games as reference cause is the proof that games can achieve a higher standard If compnies put the effort, the problem is that consumers ( us ) dont give a fuck and wants to consume at all cost and that makes ppl get offended when someone point some of the products fault.

I never said i wasnt gona play the game, i put 400+ hours in Worlds and i ll play this for at least the same amount of time, that dosnt make me blind for the game faults.

Kinda disappointed with the game performance, but it dosent look bad on a base PS5, i think the scale and having so much stuff going on in the world it helps looking past the graphic fidelity that is not on par with some games that run at 60fps on PS5 like Horizon Forbiden West.

Is there a way to switch between resolution and performance? I didnt found the option but the game felt it was running at 30fps all the time.

4090 is not a real graphics card.

I simply wanted to share that I'm absolutely loving this game. I love how Capcom is doubling down on creating a vibrant, living, world that evolves and dynamically changes. You can definetly feel their vision and ambitions that didn't work with the limitations of the PS4, regarding World and Iceborne.

I love the colour schemes, I love the new weapon moves. Heck, I was messing around in the training area and did a 49 hit combo with the Gunlance and that blew me away.

Either way. I love the direction they're going with this and I hope the final product will give us a big amount of content. This will be my GOTY for 2025 and I feel as excited for MonHun as I was on the 3DS (MH 4 Ultimate).

Getting a bit worried that the final product won't have massive improvements like it needs, even on the PS5 Pro or high end PC GPUs

really sad that this game has terrible technical performance. hoping for a miracle
I think the "miracle" will be the 40fps mode, but we'll see. I was also disappointed by the benchmark on my PC so I'm risking it all on the ps5 pro.

Better than World? If so why?
It's different, not necessarily better, exactly like some people who think that old mh are better than world and rise.

If you are like me where world was your first mh amd it was a genie in a bottle moment where you absolutely loved everything about it and you were bummed by the change in rise, it would not surprise me if you are not gonna like wilds as much as world, after the beta i can safely say that wilds doesn't feel remotely as magic as world and i don't think i'm gonna sunk 1000++ hours on it like i did in world even if wilds ends up being the better game overall.

Not sure if you understand what i say, sometimes you play a game in the right moment, at the right time and it's gonna be your favourite in the saga and nothing that came later is gonna feel the same because you are too used with that one game.

It seems “fine”. I don’t know that I love your character having a speaking role, and it feels like it’s lacking a certain amount of charm. I don’t like how much the monsters look like animals, I prefer more dinosaur or draconic looking designs myself. Everything just seems a little “gross” to look at so far.

I do dig some of the UI changes, though. Love that weapons are sorted properly by type.

I've never really got the hype around the MH series. I gave MH World about 10-15 hours and gave up on it because it felt aimless a lot of the time.

I tried MH wilds as well and it's more of the same. Spending 30-60 minutes doing the same combos over and over and over again during hunts gets old quickly.

The visuals are a step down from MH World as well.

Some people online have tried to memory-hole and gaslight entire communities into thinking Cyberpunk wasn't one of the worst launches of all time.

"This game is one of the most performant games out there."

Yes, and it only took them 3-4 years, a huge dip in their share price, and a ridiculous amount of public backlash to get it into that condition.

Arkveld gave a bit of trouble, but got him down eventually. With randoms it's almost impossible though, carts everywhere and I asusume the HP is bloated for 4 players so a 20min time limit will be very difficult.

I remember having more trouble with Nergigante and Velkhana, I hope full game Arkveld will be more difficult.

Anyway, cannot wait till 28th! I always get lost in the MH world and spend hours and hours fighting monsters. GOTY for me always.

EDIT: I'm see some posts complaining about visiuals and saying World was better. Like wtf, are you blind? Just have a fight with Arkveld with lightning storm and you can see a breathtaking spectacle. That's on base PS5, PC is even more jawdropping.
