The game is about getting strong as you advanced, its a very grind game but fair.I've never really got the hype around the MH series. I gave MH World about 10-15 hours and gave up on it because it felt aimless a lot of the time.
I tried MH wilds as well and it's more of the same. Spending 30-60 minutes doing the same combos over and over and over again during hunts gets old quickly.
The visuals are a step down from MH World as well.
It seems “fine”. I don’t know that I love your character having a speaking role, and it feels like it’s lacking a certain amount of charm. I don’t like how much the monsters look like animals, I prefer more dinosaur or draconic looking designs myself. Everything just seems a little “gross” to look at so far.
I do dig some of the UI changes, though. Love that weapons are sorted properly by type.
Arkveld gave a bit of trouble, but got him down eventually. With randoms it's almost impossible though, carts everywhere and I asusume the HP is bloated for 4 players so a 20min time limit will be very difficult.
I remember having more trouble with Nergigante and Velkhana, I hope full game Arkveld will be more difficult.
Anyway, cannot wait till 28th! I always get lost in the MH world and spend hours and hours fighting monsters. GOTY for me always.
EDIT: I'm see some posts complaining about visiuals and saying World was better. Like wtf, are you blind? Just have a fight with Arkveld with lightning storm and you can see a breathtaking spectacle. That's on base PS5, PC is even more jawdropping.
Because the language rhythm doesn't fit Englisch wording, especially when it comes to dramatic sequences. If you just tack it on as is you'd get completely out of sync mouth movements. Pick your poison.OMG this dialog is killing me. There’s like a 2 second pause after every line. Why do Japanese games do this?
No that has nothing to do with it. They literally just stand there with their mouth shut for 2 seconds after every line.Because the language rhythm doesn't fit Englisch wording, especially when it comes to dramatic sequences. If you just tack it on as is you'd get completely out of sync mouth movements. Pick your poison.

Are we looking at the same monsters? I would argue that Wilds represents one of the biggest departures from animal-like monsters in a long time. World's monsters were much more "this is just a big lizard"
I’m definitely thinking about holding off for now. I’m not feeling it and I cant put my finger on why.
If you mean the FOMO period, I agree. But Monster Hunter on PlayStation/PC will always have a healthy player base, just like Fromsoft games. Will wait for reviews…
But not playing while it’s most popular also kinda sucks

I have no doubts it will be an amazing game. I just don't know man... maybe I'm not the in the right mindset. I'm always hype for new Monster Hunter but this isn't grabbing me.

I believe they have addressed the fleeing thing as a beta "feature" that's getting fixed for the release. As for the other issue, they are high tier monsters we're fighting with starter gear so no surprise there. Even if they did adjust them for the beta, I doubt they put too much effort on balancing them just right.Rey Dau and Arkveld are fun fights but seem extra spongey compared to the rest of the monsters. And they flee so damn much. Hoping there is a large improvement for release.
Funny thing in very first Monster Hunter the monsters flee A LOT, you spend more time chasing them down than fighting them.I believe they have addressed the fleeing thing as a beta "feature" that's getting fixed for the release. I’m using a PS5 controller on PC, but I get Xbox button prompts. Everything in Steam is set up right afaik.
Anyway to force PS button prompts in the beta?
downloaded the beta but havent played it yet... LOVE the scale of this and the monster and area design but goddamn that looks like it runs like dog shit... hopefully it runs better at release? I really wanna preorder the ultimate edition but that performance i see in videos has me on the fence :/
Man Cap is so much fun
Wrong thread lolCap?

If your current build is substantially better then the beta built - why even bother?Considering the beta is from last November and doesn’t have most of the fixes they’ve been working on, it’s safe to say it will perform better. Not sure how much better, but there will be improvement. Especially if you’re on PC or PS5 Pro.

Open beta on a 3 month old build. Why bother with what?

Probably difficult since they had to make mechanic changes to the game like all the limits imposed and I'm sure their goal wasn't modularity in their ability to improve the game while also it maintaining the "walled garden" of the beta. People should definitely chill a little until release, they have said it will be improved upon and traditionally the last 6-12 months of a game sees a lot of optimization. Don't preorder and you will have your how it runs answer 30 mins after release. It's quite a bit older than that, and the point of the Beta is to stress test the servers, not to be a graphics showcase.
I'll admit I don't know what kind of work it would take to implement a new build in the Beta, but if it's anything more than trivial I'd rather they continue to spend that time on the promised optimization and balance changes of the actual retail product.
Discovered the Long Sword bomb trick from Rise is still there even without level 3 quick sheath. Neat.

That's part of it. Runs like shit. Looks like muddy shit. I feel like there's something more to it though. I just can't quantify it yet.Runs like shit?
Amusing how people are willing to hand wave the garbage performance due to franchise loyalty. If this was ANY game other than MH, it’d be crucified for running like this.

But yeah, I'm definitely not giving Capcom on a pass on this one. They need to fix this before launch.
Well damn. My intuition was correct then.A lot of people were disliking the feel of the combat because they significantly decreased the hit stop on the weapons, so your attacks lacked any sense of impact or weight. They're changing it for the full release.
