I've played 10 hours so far and I have to say, it hasn't been as easy as some of the reviews suggested. I'm not saying it's hard or anything, but from Doshaguma onwards monsters have been fighting back and I've carted quite a few times, even failed a couple of quests. The difficulty level seems about the same as previous games. The biggest difference has been the first few monstrers which were just sandbags, more so than expected.

ya i have to agree mostly. it’s about the same as Rise. wire bug there and Seikret here feel kinda similar. i’m HR 40ish and the challenge feels pretty good. i played world 1000 hours and cleared fatalis many times. i think that is being compared to this LR and HR and it simply shouldn’t

Caved and tryin to find the love with MH. So for a beginner out of say the dual blades and HBG, which I'm using the HBG currently... Which of these are most beginner friendly overall?

Also like what's the best way to ease into a MH game, just follow main story or bang missions or? 1

Enjoying this so far, it does feel a lot easier than MHW. Combat wise I think it's an improvement over 4, but, I think I've feinted maybe 4 times total and I think I'm near the end of the game (based off the story). Speaking of the story, not really feeling it, the kid is annoying and I get JJ Abrams mystery box vibes from the plot.

Besides Seikret shortcuts you don't need it at all. Wirebugs saw more use since monsters could combo you hard if you didn't escape with Wirebugs.

The game as is is arguably easier then Rise. Monsters seem to focus on one big hit rather then a whole bunch.

The only challenge has come from Black Flame...but that's more because of tight corridors and learning the boss. The Cornerstone Monsters of each biome make your health flash red to telegraph their big attacks so you always know it's coming.

The fact you can get Tail materials from popping Wounds with any weapon just lets you use whatever and just begs the question of why have Slicing Ammo. By keeping the Tail you can get more Pierce damage in.

The story is awful so far. I skip the cutscenes unless it's a monster introduction.

I've hard the story gets better at the end, but not expecting much.

SnS is the begginer weapons, HBG has a shield build in It, so If u stay still during Monsters attacks you ll auto block, you ll lose some health but not much.

Play the story to get into the HR quest, there is were the game ll really begin.

I guess I’m one of few here really enjoying the game, the fights are not hard but that Doshaguma almost cart me.

And most of the new monsters are very interesting so far, I’m personally like roster here more than based World

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Care to share how are you doing ?
Requires a bit of practice but once it clicks, it fucking CLICKS allowing you to counter moves within time frames you normally wouldn't.

Perfect parry --> Focus mode + Release parry --> charge /\ + release focus
^all while not having the character aligned with the camera

So basically one has to press R2 before the attack right? I'll watch the video but I am guessing that's the way to do it?

R2 to perfect block an attack
Hold down focus for a split second while releasing block AND start charging your attack
Release focus mode, keep charging weapon if needed

What makes the bow a good choice in your opinion?
bow has always been the second safest choice because of the nature of the weapon, you never have to get close, it attacks fast and you can dodge out of recovery frames.
Now the bow also has a tracer feature so you don't even have to aim that much if you mark the monster with a tracer.
the safest choice is the lance but only with the right gear/decorations, since it will allow you to block pretty much anything.

Hunts feeling better in HR, for whatever it’s worth. Maybe still a bit in the easier/shorter side, but way better then LR
Gu.Rathalos was exciting. Think only Black Flame otherwise gets me in the groove. That big Water monster is only annoying because it's fat as hell. Uth Duna but it's phat Plesioth to me. I like having to move.

I'm enjoying it. The combat feels better. Everything else feels like a downgrade but the combat is why I'm here.

My only issue here is compare to other MH games the story is too much on your face, most MH dont have great story either but never get in your way.

Agreed. I played MH World for around 100 hours and I dont remember having so many cut scenes and constant boring dialogues. In this regard, Wilds is a definitely worse

MH4 has great pacing and story centered around the monster. Most MH games were either monster appeared go kill monster or this monster knocked your socks off and you need to kill other monsters to prove yourself worthy of killing the one monster.

Here it's amnesia boy adventures, anime filler and gets sorta good in the last third. It's like a bad anime that gets good in the last couple episodes.

And unlike Rise, Wilds doesn't have an amazing hub song sung by cute Wyverian girls.

Just started Chapter 4.

Story is/was okay-ish. Like the gameplay and thought some monsters so far were quite challenging. Lots of cool looking armor as well, moreso than Worlds imo.

Decided to main Hunting Horn, as I like playing supportive roles.

One question though:
When do I unlock customisation for the Seikret?
Thought I'd have it by now, but guess not.

Surely I can't be the only one who finds the character models to be absolute uncanny valley nightmare fuel, lol. The dialogue is pretty awful. Too much polite anime stuff. Too many JRPGs have that. Too vanilla.

The game looks great and I was really enjoying the 40fps mode on the OLED last night, but the weird western anime style, it's really off putting.

The game reminds me of White Knight Chronicles. That's a good thing for me. I'm enjoying it but it also represents everything I roll my eyes at when it comes to JRPGs.

Textures are a nightmare in this game, how did Capcom fucked this is beyond me, Jesus
It's mind-boggling that they released it in this state.

I would genuinely love to meet the person who gave the final approval, not out of anger, but pure curiosity. What went through their mind when they signed off on this? Did they just not care, or were they convinced this was somehow acceptable?

Because from the outside, it looks like either complete incompetence or a total disregard for quality.

It feels like they just slapped it together and hoped no one would notice.

The walk and talk sections ARE the worst…but I’ll take it since I am having a blast in every other aspect of the game.

Trying to rush to end game so I can start the multiplayer but cannot string more than a few hours a night together.

Looking forward to late night co-op hunts over the next few weeks!

I’m enjoying it as well. Combat is actually better than World.

I do miss the hustle and bustle of World’s hub though. To Sawyer’s point, it lacks a little of the coziness of World.

I’m a little surprised they went with such a ho hum story filled with such bland tropes. (Best story is still MH4. I liked that one. Just enough to keep you interested, not enough to ever get in your way).

Enjoying this game so far but also... holy fuck it is so frustrating just to try and stay in a game with my wife always kicking me out of connection and because of story elements. Driving me crazy. It's been a LONG time since we played world i dont remember it being this frustrating. :(

Also the bow is fantastic i dont even bother with the auto target flare thing... and then i tried the long sword and MY GOD how do people use this thing? Monsters fly all over the map and you are stuck in clunky animations after monsters jump over your head and stuff. Yeesh.

R2+circle ( Foresight Slash ) is the main ability of LG imo, once you master It you ll be jumping and slashing 90% the combat.
