Dunno if my expectations have changed over the years, but the presentation value of MH Wilds is really leaving a sour taste in my mouth, just going through this slog of a campaign with terrible cutscenes and voice acting. Truly atrocious stuff.

The gameplay is fun though, and better than World, but....you gotta put up with so much shit....and I absolutely can't stand all the random systems they have in place that makes the game a mess to play from a UI standpoint. ADHD hellscape

Like....did anyone else feel that MH World was a "cozier" and more appealing experience to players? I kinda liked the appealing hub world.....everything in Wilds in comparison is just not nearly as charming/endearing or cozy....

First game using S&S. I usually rock the great sword or hammer in every MH game. Having a blast with it. Makes me wish I used it in earlier games.
I used Hammer in World and Rise. I was planning on using Hammer with Gunlance in Wilds, but now I'm running S&S with Gunlance.

The versatility of it is so much fun. Fast, mobile, blocking, jumping attacks, etc.

The day o switched to S&S in World was the day I started loving Monster Hunter and its great in this game too.

I’m 5 hours in and having a great time with it, I don’t mind that it’s a bit easier. I thought Alpha Doshugama was a decent test though.

SnS is so good in this game, it’s insane how buff it is now.

I used mostly Lance is world, and LS in Rise.
But SnS has been my main in wilds so far. They ruined Lance, and I’m tired of LS. SnS is just that perfect sweet spot in this game.

I'm really liking Hammer here, I know people complained about level 3 charge but I dont mind it, its really fun to use it.

I found rise a very focused experience.

Wilds doesn’t benefit from being open world. The pop in pop out hub nature and biomes without the padding is what I prefer. Rise focused on the gameplay and felt more fluid than this or world.

I find this game a slog, and with it being piss easy, just monotonous and dull.

Yet another over hyped by media and gamers alike game that does nothing for me.

I tried the demo prior to release but the demo was a slice focused on gameplay… where the actual game is as said above, a horrendous slog.

Sign me up for a Rise 2 or games akin to that because the World/Wilds formula is not for me.

Worlds Hub was absolutely astonishing.
Teaming with life, fizzing with colour, spectacle, and sublime art direction.
Wilds looks like a game from a previous generation, with it's muted palette and dreadful looking textures.
How often do we need the "lost tribe" trope too?
Wet blanket kids, crying.
I want hunters smashing flagons of mead together, boisterous old guards with booming laughter.
Roaring fires with cats scuttling about with impossibly stacked plates of food.
I dunno, everything up to now in wilds seems so flat.
Lucky it plays good I suppose.

I’m still early in and having fun. I just wish the campaign was more about the hub board and monster quests. I got to HR3 and I didn’t feel like I earned that rank yet. I liked MH Rise and Rise made me feel like I was earning my rank. Listening to someone talk about history and people isn’t what I expected. It’ll probably get better. I upgraded my LS 3 times and I felt like I didn’t do 💩

What the... it's actually possible to get stunned in this game?? I got through the entire LR story without being stunned a single time so I thought they removed it (which I thought was a welcome change), but I'm watching a streamer and she actually got stunned after taking too many hits I guess. I'm stunned myself right now lol

That cutscene after the Ajarakan story battle 🔥 Speaking of that fight, I had a hammer as my secondary but have barely used it, just love the speed and constant attack aggression of my Dual Blades. Problem was I came into the battle with fire affinity blades so I decided to play around with the hammer instead. Got to say, beating the shit out of the Ajarakan while it flailed and rolled around in the mud was a thing of beauty lol

Yeah flat is a good term for it

The game is seriously lacking soul compared to World. Feels generic, dead, boring. Just plain unappealing.

Honestly really regretting my purchase so far, despite it being fun to play I’m having difficulty mustering the desire to boot it up
Bingo. I went back to Animal well to finally beat it and fully replaying Chrono trigger for the first time since I was in middle school.

I am using the 4k texture pack or whatever the hell is called, playing on a 4090

How are these textures acceptable?

Despite my complaints regarding the technical side (villages killing my framerate specifically) aside, I’m enjoying myself. Been playing with a friend for co-op.

For being easier that world, I gotta say that the giant salmon-headed mega gyarados almost made me fail for the first time today.

I don't know, but apart from auto-run for the Seikret and the game being a bit easier, I think Wilds is pretty much on par with World.

I don't think art direction for Wilds is worse, environments might be a bit less dense, but Wilds has the weather effects.
Gear sets also don't seem to be much worse, World also had mostly shit-looking gear.

Couldn't give two shits about the story for both games, so if Wilds has a much shorter story I consider it a bonus.

Also, graphics for World were underwhelming when it released as well.🤷🏾‍♂️

Why did they do this to something that is almost perfect i will not understand.

The uggly look and performance aside, this feels like capcom said, dumb it down as much as possible, all people should be aboard! Not every game has to be for everyone! I suck in from games, and i love them anyway, let them be what they are for example.

And now we have an actual onrail mh campaign wich you clear even if youre in "no monitor" leauge. There is still mh under all this shit, so i will continue to play until ive done eveeything.

But im sad of what they have done to something that is for me as close to perfection a game serie can come.

But it lacks so many things to add proper depth and detail to everything that what artists did almost completely going to waste and there was nothing like that in DD''2'', not at this lvl at least. Also, I checked the PT and RT mod for DD"2" (which is no longer available at Nexus Mods for some reason) and it's just doesn't work in MHW which is really sad cuz at least by using it we could've fixed the game visually somewhat but now it's just not in the cards. I guess we just have to wait until some modder will enable everything from the cut-scenes to make all these features work during gameplay.

On a side note, in the forest area I noticed some stutters for the first time during some actions and camera turns and that's with the fixed .ini file and updated direct storage files to the latest version.

I was going into this with an open mind about this new cinematic story focus, but I am good and tired of the forced walking sections and the ultra cringe dialogue. I miss "Hunter, we saw some monster in such and such an area, go check it out". That's all the story I need.

Gotta say though, I was down on Alma originally, but she's been fine. Better than Handler so far at least.

The new monsters so far have been okay. Since I'm maining IG this time, the rose spider thing was quite fun. I kept knocking it down when it was dangling from the ceiling shitting flowers everywhere.

I really like how that Banabra (the poison spitting tube monster, whatever his name) creates the sand pit. That was visually really cool when I was fighting him at night in the dunes. I never saw him do that in the beta. Congalala was fun, but it was like watching 2 girls 1 cup again. They really went IN on the puking and farting.

It's funny how many warning screens and popups they put up when you're fighting a monster that's above your HR in the open world. It's like "YOU SHOULDN'T FIGHT THAT YET" "WE'RE NOT GIVING YOU CREDIT FOR THIS FIGHT!" all the while you're styling on the monster and killing it with relative ease.

I saw a patch just went out on PC, didn't see official patch notes for it yet.

Developers adding forced walk sections in videogames should be charged with first degree murder without the possibility of parole

Oh, the PC patch is just minor fixes. Wonder if they fixed the spelling issue in the .ini file. I noticed after I fixed it manually, my fans didn't kick on nearly as loudly, but I don't know if it's just a placebo effect.

They made a popcorn 'box office' campaign, probably to appeal to the masses, but once the first 3 acts are out the way, the real MH begins, and its all the shit we know and love from that point on. All the 'too easy' crap are just your typical gamers making a big deal out of nothing, even towards the end of the first 3 acts there a few challenging fights but once you hit HR its no different from any of the other games difficulty wise.

I mean Yoshichan finished the game already.

I'm blazing through the story because these cutscenes and conversations are downright awful.

And those forced slow-walking sections? Absolutely infuriating. It's been one of the biggest complaints in modern gaming, yet Capcom somehow doubled down on it. Mind-boggling.

So far, MH Wilds is like a hunting trip with your bros, minus the three-hour-long mud race to the forest, the pointless stumbling around in the forest, the binge drinking spree, that dude deciding squealing like a boar in tall grass is a fun prank, the rest getting charged for involuntary manslaughter, and all of you reuniting a decade later after being released from prison.

No drawbacks.

The game looks great with the High Texture Pack but it's barely playable.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I can officially there was no quest @ HR 100 despite leakers and pretenders saying there was one. Bullshit.

The game has in my opinion a terrible beginning. The first few hours are boring as heck, man. Constant cutscenes, constant forced walks following npcs and constant conversations. The game doesn't give you any sort of freedom, it treats you like an rookie in his first day at work. And honestly it doesn't help either the fact that the dialogues and character behavior are cringe and very childlike.

So far I am not happy with the game but I will continue playing and hopefully this changes along the way

I am not far in yet, but yes, it feels like a forced Pokemon game tutorial. The slow riding bits are almost as irritating as they were in Gears of War 1.

I don't have enough VRAM to play with it, but it's far from the game's biggest issues visually. Even the standard textures the game released with are "fine", but there's a lot of modern features missing when it comes to lighting, shadows, AO, GI and basically anything related to light and shadows to blend everything in the game properly. Without all these modern features the game just looks bland, empty and hollow.

Turns out that PT mod is not needed cuz RE Framework already comes with it, but the noise is absolutely horrible and PT just doesn't work like in DD''2'', there's literally no denoiser as well. I think the guy who found PT stuff in DD"2" promised to implement better denoiser, but it never came to be I guess.

The whole first 3 acts are like that, then act 4 onwards is pretty much the same as Worlds

Dress-like armor sets are so effin' stupid in a game like this. Like, why in a world would you ever fight giant monsters while wearing a dress-like armor and high heels?

anime-girl.gif

Killed a spider boss in the forest and so far I don't like 99% of armor sets and weapons I can craft cuz they look like shit or absolutely ridiculous and inappropriate for a game like this like some armor sets. Ugh, I guess I have to power through all this shit to get to the actual good stuff:messenger_weary:
