That's fucking awesome. I knew they were gonna go all out on this. The environment and weather being reactive like that with physics applied is seriously impressive.
This is why it baffles me that people saying it looks worse than World, the scale Wilds just much bigger, more interactive with weather system and how monster interact with their environments.

I mean isn’t that one of our biggest criticism against newer FarCry games? They are more “pretty” but it lost all its interactivity compare to FarCry 2.

Yeah that's why I've been ignoring the surface level chatter from the smooth brains.

Because logic is “less colourful = bad graphics”.
That's hardly the reason why. The graphics are bad because of the absolute shit level of texture detail combined with a bad HDR implementation. Maybe the HD texture pack fixes that on PC but playing on the Pro and all 3 modes have terribly low textures all over the place ...the ground, distant rocks, cutscenes (look at npc's armor). The fog combined with a broken hdr solution (world suffered too from this) combined with low res textures and lackluster lighting unlike DD2 which had rtgi and functioning hdr, all combines to make a graphically bad game not "muh colors".

It's a shame because the monsters look amazing and I dig the art style ...I see what they were going for but the execution is just terrible. Think about this ...world came our in 2017 and looked better in many ways on Ps4 Pro than World does on ps5 pro in 2025! Only things that are clearly a lot better in Wilds are the monsters, character models, animations and probably world simulation....quite a few improvements but the textures and washed out look detracts so much from the overall graphics.

But that's not true, MHW didn't run great at all at launch, it as uncapped 30 fps on ps4 and around ~50 on ps4 pro, there's plenty of up close low res textures as well

Look at the ground and the hammer, very low res, and this was on PC!

The box and the ropes the guy is sitting on might as well not have any resolution, even the bone pillars around him are low res.

Are you kidding me, MHWorld on PS4 pro couldn’t do proper 60 FPS let alone based version meanwhile in Wild the scale and interactivity is much higher and still can 60 FPS on based PS5.

Constant CTDs. I made it to the main camp, started out of it on the main quest, CTD left and right. Finally made it through that, visited the native camp, came back to my camp, and now CTD again. Using latest Nvidia drivers.

It's impossible to make your character's skin color look like it does in the creator when in the game. I hate when games do this with the lighting, what's the point of having a character creator with infinity skin color options when all of them look nothing like what you created in the game

I'm not far into the game though so I might just re-create and restart, not going to waste my free character edit voucher on fucking with the skin sigh

Whenever I try to switch weapons (D-pad right) it calls the seikret. Any d-pad direction calls the seikret. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: Right after posting this I realized what I was doing wrong.

after some hours i can tell 100% that i prefer World tone and dialog and i never tough i would say this but i miss World handler XD

Edit: World OST too is a banger since min 1 this one is so dull imo ( the main theme is good )

Edit 2: its me or the handler is aways with you in this game ? every time someone is talking and talking non stop, i just want to hunt in peace.

My old ass hunter, he is hunting since Tri, guess he aged with the franchise

She does come to the hunt because without permission from the guild you can’t hunt monster, I actually tried hunt one of the new monster on desert but she said I don’t have permission to hunt that monster.

Seriously, I don't understand some people's obsession with wanting Monster Hunter to be candy colored.
The issue on the looks of the game and even textures is over blown and exagerated. I have no problems with the looks of the game that is why i dont agree with alex of DF and other critics about there negativoty on looks of the game. I believe it's developers decision and creative and artistic choice in the design and the looks of the game. They can easily make it colorful but they want it to look washout or dirty look to show diffucult the environment in MHW. I remember MGS 2 and MGS4 were many criticize the wash out look but it was actually the developers design, Kojima, for cinematic effect.

The game is fun, but I don't like how you always start each mission slow walking with other NPCs.. I don't remember it being a thing in Monster Hunter World.

Anyway, here's my character :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
5365940862D16527F8FB44F3C5D70FDF2ADCE089

It happened in World but very infrequently, like when you first got to the forbidden lands, or when you first enter the forest before you gain access to the main camp.

Essentially the alternative would be to have even more cutscenes to dump even more exposition of the new area you are entering. At least that's what I assume they think is the only alternative, they could or just let the player play and figure out stuff on their own like Dark Souls rather than go on about stuff in the distance and forcing you to zoom in and go "HEY DO YOU THINK THIS WAS PART OF AN ANCIENT CITY?"

Capcom really are doubting down on the American style of thinking the consumer is so stupid they need to be force fed all information like a baby without the ability to make even simple observations or connections on their own.

I did appreciate how the story is going back to classic monster hunter lore, but I'm disappointed with how stupid it thinks you are when telling it.

I heard her say that earlier today and I was like, right… and proceeded to hunt the monster.

What a dumb thing to add

WTF Capcom did with the difficult in this game ? compared to the LR first hunts in World, Wilds looks like a joke, Pukei Pukei, Barroth, Tobi, Anjanath alone are more annoying to deal than 90% of the monster i saw in Wilds atm

Rey Dau, that was fucking spectacular. Those attacks, the insane particle effects, truly a thing of beauty. I say again, it's really in the animations/physics where you see the "next-gen" footprint of MHW, truly impressive stuff, amongst the best ever in fact. Loving the wounds system and my Dual Blades are so damn satisfying when doing those special wound attacks.

Game is super easy though, nothing has even been a little bit challenging, playing 100% solo, no NPC SOS flare. Maybe the real challenge will come in the post-game hunts, let's see what happens.

Some people have already finished the game wtf? In under 10 hours. Is the story so short? MH World took me more time than that playing solo

Tears of Nintendo
Since the game has so many indian looking characters and somewhat influenced by indian culture, I decided to create a indian character.

The problem is that she just doesn't look that good as in these shots cuz during gameplay, literally everything related to lighting, shadows and realistic material behaviour is disabled:messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_pensive:

I basically only just started playing and completed a couple of quests. I absolutely love the fact that you can use mounts to go to high places and just how organic and natural it feels and looks, I wish more games had this. Decided to go with the huge sword (and a bow) just to see how it works and holy shit the weight of it feels incredible, not to mention the impact and stuff you do with it, which is super slow but I like it, I thought that DD''2'' had great feelin' huge weapons but this is on a whole other level.

Anyway, I like what I've played so far, we'll see how I'll feel after 10+ hrs or so.

Restarted the game 4x now. Wanted to make a character that looks like my gf, but I keep messing up.
Spent far too much time on character creation. Lol

Did fight that spider-like boss in the forest on my 3rd character, though. Was a pretty cool fight.

This game isn't the best-looking game, but no idea why some people are so worked up over the visuals.

Edit:

Figured out how Hunting Horn works. It was rather obvious. Lol

So is game really that easy as reviews said???
Yeah. It's gonna be even easier with Mushroomancer Lvl3 being so accessible. Attack buff, Defense Buff, Max Potions, Immunizers, Potions, Dash Juice all in the form of Mushrooms that also give a movement speed boost after eating any of them.

Heavily considering a Mushroomancer/Free Meal build.

Not really, it is easier than previous games but some of them will give you a run for your money. As always, harder stuff comes post game which most ppl arent even close to yet, and reviewers werent allowed to discuss endgame
