Are you fucking kidding me?

"How DARE you quote me VERBATIM and infer that I'm racist solely based on the ACTUAL WORDS I SAID? It's all a liberal conspiracy to make me look stupid!"

Going to Infowars to make your case isn't the best idea, either. Loony nutjobs looking after their own, I suppose.

He likes Hispanics though (or The Spanish People as he calls them)
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/clive-bundy-the-spanish-immigrants

"I understand that they come over here against our Constitution and cross our borders," he says. "But they're here and they're people. I worked side-by-side a lot of them. Don't tell me they don't work, and don't tell me they don't pay taxes. And don't tell me they don't have better family structures than most of us white people."

"When you see those Mexican families, they're together. They picnic together. They're spending their time together," he said. "I'll tell you, in my way of thinking, they're awful nice people. We need to have those people join us and be with us."

MAN THAT WAS GOOD!

OOOOOOHHH! That was some fine top grade racism! MMMMH! That was exquisite! I feel like I just ate a rich meal reading that. It was so juicy and meaty.

I swear the younger generation of racists just don't know! THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! This is the kind of robustness only age and experience can bring.

No seriously, I'm very impressed. I can't even offer my thoughts on the contents of the statement itself because its so rich with it. I'll revisit after I internalize and digest it for a bit. Nevertheless, fine work.

Seriously, this was like the racism that people suspect doesn't exist anymore. But it does.

Now its just black people said the same thing!

@bloodless_coup
Allen West, Star Parker, Thomas Sowell have all said SAME THING #CliveBundy said. Not NEARLY as CRUDELY but same sentiment... #BundyRanch

I'm confused why this clown thinks he shouldn't have to pay to feed his cattle.

"Not media trained." I love it. The implication is that conservatives have to be specially trained in order to avoid saying dumb racist shit in front of the media.

You could take the implication a step further in that conservatives who don't actively say dumb racist shit don't because they were trained to.

I think that IS the implication.

We can't get rid of negro because too many people call themselves negros. I worked the 2010 census operation, and the forms had many terms for many races and ethnicities. We wrote down the answers the residents gave us, and if they said "yes I consider myself to be negro" "I'm not an African American, I'm negro" "yes, negro/black" or "yes I'm a negro", we checked the appropriate box. If people still use certain terms to refer to themselves, who has a right to get rid of the terminology? Isn't that itself a little bit of bigotry, control, and erasure? I don't like the term myself, I much dislike a lot of racial terms to be honest, but if I am not part of the group, who the fuck am I to judge?

Yea, you got a valid point. Just pisses me off hearing it used as a pejorative.

My mom still refers to herself as "Negro". But I'd rather let it die as a relic from a racist past than hear people like this guy using it.

The funny thing (well, not so funny really) is that is the original issue at hand. It is now shadowed by the racist remarks he made - which he now seems to be denying and accusing the NYTimes of spinning. If you listen to his response, he is actually spinning his own remarks from the original interview to change what he "intended" to say about slavery.. like he is reading from a script. My guess is that he has a high-level politician with special interest in him helping right now.

BTW - I can't stand Alex Jones. Not surprised he got involved in this.

I have zero respect for racists. That respect starts dipping into negative figures when they can't even own up to their own twisted philosophy. As if it's fine to be racist so long as people aren't yelling at you for it. It's the same kind of person who whispers racist comments if minorities are within earshot.

I'd imagine the average white person believes various distasteful things about black people and minorities (not saying white people are racist, but western society has deeply ingrained stereotypes about races). The problem here is it's one step away from the "acting white/black" slope where acting white includes listening to non rap, reading, and being smart. It was an ugly comment on Reid's part, even if there's obvious truth in what he implied. Yes, if Obama talked like Lil Wayne he wouldn't be president.

Except that could be said about any race of person running for president as you know.

Here's the dude's "clarified" remarks:

I'm wondering if they're better off under a government subsidy and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail and their older women and children are sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do.

I'm wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were when they were slaves and they was able to their family structure together and the chickens and the garden and the people have something to do?

So in my mind, are they better off being slaves in that sense or better off being slaves to the United States government in the sense of the subsidy? I'm wondering. The statement was right. I am wondering.

Well, then.

Oh, he's just wondering if the Negro is better off in happier times in chains than stealing from the American taxpayer for their abortions. Way to overreact liberal GAF

Here's the video of Bundy saying the stuff that was horribly misquoted and taken out of context: http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/04/24/video-cliven-bundys-racist-comments/199008

Edit: Oh, APK got there first.

Media matters does a great job tracking all the crazy stuff that people say and having it all easy to find & cite.

People like Bill O'Reilly complain about them to no end . . . but I don't see how you can complain when they put up all the quotes, recordings, videos, etc. I guess he just doesn't like it when people bring back the ugly parts of what they say.

Eh, he'll die soon enough. Let him live in his 12-acre fantasy land with the little time he's got left.

His words honestly don't mean anything to any working brain in this country, or on this planet.

The best part is that he doubled down on his "out of context" remarks:

but its okay because he is just "wondering"

e: oh, and he added chickens to complete the racist cycle. oh, and I don't know how I missed the other post on this. ctrl+f fails me

There was a thread on this very board where people criticized this very thing. Obama can speak casually at times.

You mean when he uses an urban dialect while talking to certain groups of blacks (on the Oprah Show or when being interviewed by MTV)? He's not going to talk that way during a debate, mainstream interview, press conference, etc.

Here's the dude's "clarified" remarks:

Well, then.

So he thinks "Negro" was the offensive part of the original comments. Priceless.

Edit: and where did this myth arise that black families were kept together at all costs during the trans Atlantic and American shave trade? Show me the receipts.

Now this guy needs to talk shit about gay people, so that the right wing media can cry "Freedom of Speech!" and pretend that it means nobody can talk shit about him.

An awful lot of people feel entitled to never be held accountable for anything they say or do.

Aaaaannnddd Bundy has now been abandoned by his chief defender, Sean Hannity

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/hannity-bundy-slavery-repugnant

Conservative media titan Sean Hannity, formerly one of Nevada rancher Clive Bundy's strongest advocates, expressed his vehement disgust Thursday with the latter's remarks on slavery

Bundy's comments "are beyond repugnant to me. They are beyond despicable to me. They are beyond ignorant to me," Hannity said during his radio show.

Although he still managed to work in some good ol' conservative victimhood:

He then turned his anger toward Democrats who would use Bundy's comments to attack conservatives.

"They want to say that conservatives are racist. Conservatives hate women," Hannity said. "Conservatives want old people to die, granny over the cliff. They want the young people to fend for themselves. They want to poison the air and poison the water."

"People that for the right reasons saw this case as government overreach now are branded because of the ignorant, racist, repugnant, despicable comments of Cliven Bundy," he said.

I wonder why anyone thinks that?

Best part:

After playing a clip of Bundy trying to clarify what he meant, Hannity said: "Just turn it off. I don't want to hear it anymore. It's obnoxious, ignorant."

Sean Hannity will be on The Five on Fox News in 30 minutes to get his side of the story out. He couldn't wait until 10 p.m. apparently.
