NSO Game Vouchers won't work for Switch 2 games, Nintendo discontinuing Gold Points March 25th

Think $70 is a virtual certainty, at least for the games they know they can get away with( 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Animal Crossing). Can't wait for the 30% off sales and the game is still $50+. And yeah, they're probably bringing back the vouchers at 2/$120. Nintendo being Nintendo, they're not going to grandfather your existing vouchers and allow you to cash in on $70 titles with the vouchers you purchased at the lower rate.

This is all just Switch 2 prep. They’ll have their own things for the next-gen. But make no mistake they want to be more profitable than ever. Games and hardware are getting more and more expensive to make.

Sadly super likely. Nintendo isn't going to leave money on the table here. Gold Points existed to get people used to digital libraries... now that they've done that they're going to go all in.

Voucher situation makes sense, but disappointing to hear about the coins unless they have a better system to replace it which they definitely won't.

I wouldn't have expected the voucher to work on Switch 2 honestly. It was the digital version of their greatest hits line they always do late in the system's life. It was only available on Switch the last 2 years I think.
As for the gold points, they suck. I imagine they're probably trying a new system for rewards.

$0.60 for a $60 game isn't it? I mean, it's not like I truly hate a discount but I think the whole thing could be redesigned into a far better rewards system.

1% of purchase price for Physical, but 5% for digital.
So a $60 physical game is $0.60 but a $60 digital game is $3.

I’m almost in the same boat. But who am I kidding? I’ll definitely buy the damn console and buy the new Mario and the new Zelda for sure.
But these anti-consumer decisions will make me use the Switch 2 less than I would otherwise.
I use both of these a lot. And in lieu of good first-party deals, gold coins + vouchers made the pill swallowable of buying the damn first party games. Let’s see what’s the whole plan, but doesn’t seem great so far.

I will too, but my patience and willingness to wait for the right buy-in point is growing. I've considered the last 5 years of my gaming habits and come to realize that I'm like 80% PC, and 20% consoles split between PS5 and Switch( sold my Series X). I'm sitting on a stack of Switch games I haven't been all that inspired to play moreso than tackling my Steam library. To be frank all the leaks, excessive forum chatter and Nintendo's own vagueness about their next console has had the opposite effect of hyping me, I'm largely indifferent to it as of now. I'm more interested in the emerging PC handheld scene than being kept on a string frothing at the mouth for whatever morsel of info Nintendo wants to grace us with. I'm just kind of over the way they brand themselves.

Think that was always the case. Perhaps something else will replace it. But you could use Gold points to buy IRL things too, that's going away - if so sad. Oh well got about 5 bucks in gold coins. I think I bought my last 1st party Switch 1 game so I'll use it up for something.
