So can we buy games at their price now, say if I just wanted a 99p game, or have Sony foolishly kept the minimum £5 spend?

They'd be stupid to launch with a ton of ports, really :p I hope it does stay that way though./

Yeah I agree...I think it's positive in terms of helping to shape a distinct identity/purpose.

As far as ports go, though, if it can encourage ports from iOS that aren't on the Android Marketplace (ala Super Crate Box) that would help it a lot I think. Vlambeer were and are shy about Android support, yet here they are with a PSM launch game...so if Sony can get other devs to think likewise, it would be helpful to them.

To quote myself, I just checked and I don't believe they want to compete with bigger app stores yet expect a buy in of £5 for anything, totally destroys that impulse buying you can get elsewhere.

We are working on bringing PSN features in the future – please wait for the details.

Kinda known, but good to see it reiterated methinks.

The price on the software is ok but can and should improve. I did some research and SCB is $1.99 on the iOS and $3.49 on PSM.

Yup, that's Sony's no fear of piracy pitch that scares developers away from Android.

The license verification for this product will be performed periodically via Wi-Fi or mobile network connection. If the license cannot be verified as valid, the application will not start.

any news about these? I have wifi Vita, I can't constantly be connected to psn for license verification thing, and if I need to be online to play these, than this is pretty big downside for me.

Not sure how often or anything. I played 3 in the train on the way to work (no signal of course) with no issues.

Are those mobile games native rez ? or is there some weird different resolutions from the original versions ?

You are completely wrong
You must recharge your wallet with at least 5€/£/$ but you can buy 1€ app whenever you want paying with your wallet funds

My experience with the mobile SDK was that the Vita needs to go online when it needs to go to a server probably to verify a license.

After it successfully does this verification, you're good and it doesn't need to go back online until the next time the Vita is rebooted.

I'm not wrong, it works the same way it always has on the PS3/Vita which is what I was hoping would change, I'm not sure what you thought I was saying.
That initial £5 is what I am arguing against, it is something not present on other app stores where you have to use a default amount of money before you can buy anything, in this case if you have no money to buy something you have to use £5 instead of just the cost of the app unless it is over £5.

Which IMO is pretty silly when other App Stores on multiple devices across a range of platforms don't require you to do that.

It seems like the softest of soft launches...almost more like an open beta test.

Sure sounds and looks like it.

Hi bravi9zero,
PlayStation Mobile Developer programme is going to be launched in November. We will give you more details near the available timing. In the meantime, please visit playstation.com/psm to find out more.
thank you.

Seems like they want to work out all the kinks before rolling out the service to all indie developers.

Like what? Genuinely curious, I never bought stuff on google marketplace and on itunes and xbl I only bought stuff using cards bought at retail. I'm not even sure you can just enter your CC info on XBL and buy away.

I think the reason for the $5 is because of CC's charge fee.

Amazon/Google play/IOS/Steam never force you to put 5$ "in the wallet"

For me it means if I actually find anything interesting under 5$ I will most likely forget it exists by the time I'm buying something else digitally to make it over 5 since I don't want to just put money in a fake wallet. Only reason I was ever ok doing this on XBL was because I used to be able to find points cards 40-60% off whenever I wanted to buy stuff.

Probably, but I'm sure payment processors are changing to handle micro transactions. iTunes lets you buy things for 99c and will charge that directly to your card. Sony should sort out their payment processing, or negotiate a deal with their payment processor, to allow them to do the same. It wasn't such a big deal before since most content was >$5, but it's true that with PSM, it's a nuisance.

Has someone asked on the blogs about the availability of the 'big' mobile games like shadow guardian, nova, modern combat etc.?

Wow, I just got a report that PSM works on the Nexus 7. If true that is a megaton.

If anyone in the US has one can they test it out?

Awww ok, yeah, then they definitely need to sort that out. If they get big enough then they can negotiate for lower fees with the vendors.

This will be rolled-out in a phased manner starting with 11 countries and regions, including Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. We’ll update you on the programme nearer launch.

Gotta love it when a game is not available in the country it was made in :\

Doesn't using psn cards count towards wallet use? I buy exclusively with those. Can't buy $1 psn cards but there's always a bit of $$ left over which I either use to buy minis or let it carry over for when I get the next psn card.

I think Sony should encourage Mini developers to bring their games without any extra charges to PSM, patch trophies in, and they got themselves a winner.

Read as: I really want Velocity on my phone with trophies. :p

Also, good job SCEA: one can clearly see all the current games are from JP and EU devs. On top of that: no mention of PSM on the PSN blog and the website they have for the Americas leads to a broken link.

Does anyone know if the PSM store is updated only once a week with PS Store? I read a comment on the PS blog that it was "separate from the PS Store".

EDIT: i get this message except i'm in US and wifi worked since i used it to download the apk.

From what I've gathered googling around, it's the error that shows up on unsupported devices. Which is why it's confusing me as my One X is one of the certified devices.
Might have something to do with the carriers too.
