I dunno how you can say that, when your most recent favorite anime Anonatsu was saved by it's animation and direction, and you know not it's script / writing which is pretty average when taken on it's own, but combined with those other aspects, it became better than any right it had to be.:3 then again I've seen you sing praises on Anonatsus writing for some reason.:lol
If the writing in Ano Natsu didn't matter or was bad it would have been another Anohana.

Why are we (we being firehawk12) using television as some special word

This is like that film vs movie thing. I don't like it.

I dunno as pizzaroll once said "writing is only important when it's bad" because that's when it starts detracting from the experience! :p
AnoNatsu is good television. Without a script, it's just a series of boobs mixed in with images of Kanna crying.
But you need a script - otherwise you have no room for execution.>:

So, what your implying is that Shinji was indoctrinated?
Actually... lol

Wait... wait... Aria is now good?

wtf is going on here tonight?

And what's wrong with kobato? I recall it being 'pleasant' kinda like Natsume.
Yes, Aria is good. How can you like Natsume but not Aria??

That's not the point at all. It's just awkward.
Game of Thrones (TV) is different from Lord of the Rings (Films). Is that awkward?

Romanes Eunt Domus
All anime are cartoons.
The amount of inferences being drawn from extremely limited evidence in that post is fairly emblematic of the problem with places like EvaGeeks. They've studied the material more closely than the creators and therefore end up filling in any gaps in the shows logic or structure with their own pet theories.
Gotta admit I was big on such big-time discussioningz in my teenage years. [/ashamed]

Yes, Aria is good. How can you like Natsume but not Aria??

I recall a ton of bullshit logic being thrown around, less than awesome visuals/direction, and a rather silly 'fanservice gimmick', and generic kugaloli.

idk, a combination of stuff, made it less than awesome for me.

Well, I come from it as a former fan of science fiction looking for something to counteract the trend of nihilism found in today's literature, television, film and video games. To me, its positivity and utopian outlook on life is precisely why I've seen the series four or five times now.
I also enjoyed the world building, even if it was just Venetian tourist porn. But that's because I watch stuff like No Reservations and The Amazing Race.

So your position is that Aria's writing is good because it's utopian? Well, OK then.

It's interesting how I had the opposite reaction from you. The more I watched it, the more I grew annoyed with how obnoxious its optimism and naivety was. Its brand of escapism is so obviously fake. When I took too large a dose of it, I actually grew angry at how aggressively contra-reality it was.

Natsume acknowledges the bittersweet nature of life.

Dude.

This Aria, not Hidan no Aria.

Maybe he is thinking of the kugololi one.

Edit: Yup.
Yep!

Maybe he's thinking of the other Aria (which I liked more than first Aria)? It's always a possibility.
Oh you.

Saint Seiya Omega 01
Got around to watching this while playing Mario Party 9. So, it's ok. Not bad, I guess. I would like more magical boy action going on than the talking for my sorts of complaints I guess.

The thought problem I've had for 10 years before I heard of Aria was whether or not it was possible to make science fiction show without violent conflict (ie, ships blowing shit up, people with light swords and phaser pistols, etc) and whether or not it would be viable as an actual product to be consumed by the public so I was pleasantly surprised when I found it.

And really, Aria isn't really Pollyanna-ish (Anne-ish, I suppose). At least, I never saw it that way.

Natsume acknowledges the bittersweet nature of life.
They do exactly the same thing. Except Natsume somehow has less character development.

Hey, I can't help be disappointed by a show that ruins the lovely art of Kozue Amano!
Writing > oh fuck it.

Listening to a lot of creators talk it seems very often that, especially on more commercial products, they don't plan things out quite as far in advance as the fanbase believes.

When watching Aria, I don't get the sense that it's a world where genuine tragedy or cruelty can ever take place, unlike Natsume. And I should clarify that my like of the latter series is almost exclusively for its episodic stories.

Saw this a while back, but to comment on it: I'm not fond of the fujoshi-aimed designs or color scheme, but the animation and storyboarding is quite impressive.

When we talk about verisimilitude, sometimes the most complicated thing that happens in our lives is whether or not we catch the bus on time.

But I think you think Kimi to Boku is like watching paint dry, so... lol

Zetman 01
Fs0FF.jpg

I had no idea what Zetman was going into this but I came away pretty impressed. Snappy opener that quickly moves through a lot of information to set the scene without really trivializing any of it. Even just in the first episode I'd already warmed up to a few of the characters, but the show's call for me to be emotionally invested in early scenes of tragedy didn't really hook me without the buildup. Everything was still really well executed in spite of this, so even if I didn't have emotional stake in what was happening to characters it was still interesting to watch. Definitely going to keep watching this one.
