The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

This is probably the first 2D fighter that I could enjoy. I main Jin and so far have won half the online battles using him, I was trying to use Ragna and Taokaka too but I just couldn't beat nu-13 with them :(, my only grip is that the story mode videos are just glorified stills I thought something was wrong with my disc when I hear voices and no one was moving their mouths in the story mode opening.

I'd recommend using once character as a main until you feel really comfortable with them. I'm shooting for 1000 matches before I start playing with Rachel as my 2nd so my Bang can be perfect. This game isn't easy on multiple character players, because they are all waaay too different.

btw is me or the sprites looks better on SDTV?
I swear the characters looks more pixelated on my LCD (using HDMI) than my 27" CRT set (using component), I'm playing the x360 version

Oh, no. They look amazing in HD for me. I sit almost six feet away from my 42 inch, and they have absolutely no pixelation in my eyes. The stills are even better, and I feel that it keeps them distinct from the anime stigma so I have no problem if they keep it this way for the next go around.

Finally got myself some internet.

The name's the same: flightofheaven

I play Noel mainly (Tager with easy specials on is my "secondary"), and Ragna sometimes.

If you'd like some easy wins, please, let me know!

I don't really know how this online stuff works.

Uh, I thought SF4 offered a "get everything" pack for a discount.

Edit:

I just thought of something.

Why would anyone play Carl at this point? They'd have to be some sort of masochist.

Because a good Carl is monstrous, albeit few online have mastered him.

I play nu and some carl destroyed me a few days back, kept skipping through all my swords, summoning his robot doll, and clap trapping me in the first few seconds of each round. it was brutal.

yes, but it takes an obscene amount of time and effort.

You either should have an innate talent with Carl, like his play style/art style, or are a masochist to actually consider playing Carl, and two out of three options mean lots and lots of losses.

And constantly losing in a fighting game is not fun.

Honestly, I think Carl's one of those characters that will take time to know where he sits on the tier list. His potential is ridiculously high. I really think in due time, he's going to be a top tier and I'm thinking that's why there are people who pick him up.

Though I think he's extremely lag sensitive, so it is really hard to tell if a Carl player is good online.

Most fighting games have a token hard-to-master character, but Carl does seem to take it to the next level. You're most likely either awesome or you suck. Not like V13, for example, where you're either okay win-wise because you spam projectiles and a combo, or you're great because you do more than that.

About SF4... There is an "All-In" pack, if that's what you're talking about.

I just checked the PSN store.

Getting each pack individually costs about 20 USD. Getting the complete pack costs 12 (or 13?) USD.

In the US store? All I have in mine is the five packs individually.

Damn straight. I've dropped many combos because of lag. If Carl can't punish mistakes, he suffers more than most because of his low life, low guard libra, and high negative penalty. =\

I faced an all gold Ragna and was too busy laughing to fight seriously and lost the first round.

I regained my composure and dominated afterwards, but still, was pretty awesome color.

turns out that I was using the expanded view mode of my HDTV, it looks fine now :lol
Thanks for the tip, yes I will try to max out jin before I move on, Is just that some people get really mad when I use him and I don't even spam with ice cars that much :lol

If you're still deciding which character to use, experiment around. Stick with the character you really want to use but there is no shame on having a second character, or even a third character.

The main thing is that you want to have fun with the game. If you want to be able to play the best you can, you may want to stick with one character only and maybe head out to an arcade if it is available near you.

Also, fix your PS3 and get BB!! The more players, the better :D

Oh, man. Don't be angry about Jin. The better players are making him a pleasure to play. I've had so much fun just nearly bypassing ice cars by a tiny margin or three ice swords using shuriken at the same time, and putting mad damage. It gets extremely competitive, and stressful following each others moves, and looking for an opening. It's a bitch when I finally get caught by a move that freezes me though.:lol

Edit:

Yeah, I'd recommend pushing a main for a while. I find that my skill with Bang dilutes pretty quickly if I try to use a sub. I'll play him until I'm perfect then try someone new. If anyone is up for a match just say so.:D

Clearly I need to get online with BB more than I do. Random matches seem less interesting because I only ever seem to fight Rachel and Jin online. :\

what?!?! i rarely ever meet rachels online. It's always Jins and Noels.

edit: Momo -- My FS3 isn't stiff like that. In fact I think that that stick feels looser than the Sanwa stick that I have.

Does this mean there is a problem with my stick? i can pull the joystick up and it moves up.

I am only level 19 and play Jin. Last night I fought a level 51 Noel that did nothing but spam her drive combos. I beat him in 2 straight rounds (gained 2 levels after that match). I can't believe that someone has put in that much playing time and still doesn't know how to play without constantly spamming her drive. His defense was terrible.

Thanks for the previous advice, everyone. It's already helping. I also messed around in training mode and found out that Arakune's down-B actually goes underneath ice car and hits from below! Fun stuff.

One other question: with Arakune is there any way to control which of the three curses (cloud, ring or homing) comes out of his mid-air 236D, or is it just random?

Nervous? I have no idea how Noel players manage that throw cancels and other touchy combo tactics like 6A, 6C~BC... in a tournament setting. Especially when you adapted on the fly to his odd escapes from the BnB.

After you've played for a while, muscle memory takes over.

Which odd escapes? You're right tho, part of my messing up was focusing more attention on what he uses to run away.

"A while" must be more than the hours and hours of Training Mode i've done. :lol

There's a "speed factor" to her that is faster than I'm used to; I'm more about slowing the match down and controling distance (hence Tager or Dhalsim or whoever I've mained).

Went with Ragna as sub since; I like characters that use moves to get around with anyways.

His air-teching during the BnB.

You shoulkd try Rachel or Kune, both can really take the speed out of a match. Though I have not yet played a good Kune online -.-

Just got back from Philly tournament (GVN Summer Jam), ended up doing the live stream commentary. :T Did pretty bad but oh well, that's what happens when you fight Jiyuna really early. Did very well against him, most people were impressed.

I played this nu player named omega-cronux and seriously, his incomplete matches count was over 20,000,000. It must have been a glitch but how does it get that high? :lol He spent the entire match talking trash too even when he lost.

Yeah, there's some weird glitch with that. I forget the name but I went against a Rachel that had millions of dropped games compared to around 400 played, it's actually really funny to see, and the number is so absurdly high it catches your eye immediately.

Oh, and does here know anything about Tager vs. Bang? I have no idea what to do against the Fu Rin Ka Zan, I found out in an earlier match that magnetism doesn't do ANYTHING to him, and he can keep running away and I'll end up getting a negative penalty. It's so tragic to watch. :lol

I guess Heat to 50 then Magna Tech Wheel when he's sure to dash in on offense? Perhaps j. A or j. 2C? I wish I had more Bang experience for you. :/

Eh, I'll keep it in mind. I don't have much experience against him either, so I can get completely off guard a lot. I also tried doing the Magna Tech Wheel when he was dashing in, he did his drive and it slowed down to show that he was countering it, so I guess that'll only work if he's dashing in from the air(atleast, I think...not sure how his drive actually works, maybe it'd counter it from there as well).

Bang can be scary, I'm really surprised more people don't play him.
