The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

Eh, I'll keep it in mind. I don't have much experience against him either, so I can get completely off guard a lot. I also tried doing the Magna Tech Wheel when he was dashing in, he did his drive and it slowed down to show that he was countering it, so I guess that'll only work if he's dashing in from the air(atleast, I think...not sure how his drive actually works, maybe it'd counter it from there as well).

Bang can be scary, I'm really surprised more people don't play him.

You can definitely catch him in the air, even if he guard-teleports, but he can counter through Tager's special if he counters low, or standard ground. Be careful for the Rushdown stuff too. A good bang makes even his weak characters look like a joke, if you let them get started. You don't need to worry about FRKZ since only like 3 players in the US know it effectively.:lol

PS
Gg's Dragon. Wish i I was more awake. Just got home from work.:/

Dragon is a whole new beast now. I didn't expect Hakumen today. Those games were a lot fun. Now I'm really looking forward to future matches against him. :D

Maybe you should decline future invites if that's the case :p No one wants to fight someone who isn't in top form! :D

Thanks! This marks the first time I've ever beaten you, I think :lol I love Hakumen so much...he's awesome. Too bad my Litchi sucks worse than before =/ I should practice using her again...but playing Litchis on Ranked depresses me because I'll never be that fancy :(

I even beat Grifter once with Hakumen  And you bet your ass I saved that replay XD That said, I never came back here to say "GGs," so...good games last time, Grifter :D

I don't think this was my net connectivity, but I was playing some folks with relatively high complete to incomplete match ratios (along the lines of 10~20%) since I couldn't find too many matches yesterday. A really high number of them started lagging like crazy when I went into a standard Rachel bnb combo and stayed lagged until I stopped attacking and would only lag when I was trying to combo. Had absolutely no lag when opponent went into his/her routine.

Anyone else encounter this or was my network connection just really fucked up yesterday? Didn't get any disconnects though...

If you're still deciding which character to use, experiment around. Stick with the character you really want to use but there is no shame on having a second character, or even a third character.

The main thing is that you want to have fun with the game. If you want to be able to play the best you can, you may want to stick with one character only and maybe head out to an arcade if it is available near you.

Also, fix your PS3 and get BB!! The more players, the better :D

I actually revived my PS3 with the heat gun method but sadly my brother was trying to recover the COD4 disc that became stuck when the PS3 got the YLOD so he took apart the bluray drive one day before I re-flowed the mother board and now I have a functional PS3 without optical drive :/ , I just can't figure out how to assemble the bluray drive properly again, So after a bit of frustration I decided to start using the analog stick of the x360 pad, is actually not bad at all and a lot more responsive than the dpad, but thanks for the invite I wish I could play it on PS3 because it seems there are more people online at least for this game.

btw I tried the story mode with Jin but even If I choose different paths I only end with 61% of his story (I think he only has one divergent path when you beat Bang), is there any other "trigger" or requisites to complete his story at 100%?

You also need to lose every fight. I also think you need to beat them with DD and without DD.

Just picked this game up today.

Lot of getting used to. Training mode doesn't see that comprehensive.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good place to look to start getting some early tips? Even just the most basic, like drives, counters, etc.

Thanks!

This might be abit advanced but it should help you with some of the mechanics of the game http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=196364

Pop in the DVD. Youtube is your friend as well.

If he just got the game, then most likely he doesn't have the limited edition anymore. YouTube did have the videos, so you can look those up.

DustLoop is a good place for character specific strategies (combos, matchups, etc.) and they also have videos, which help a lot.

Maybe a stupid question, but where can I access my online player card and stats?

Can't find it anywhere...

Find yourself in the leaderboards (use your friend filter) and select your name.

Yeah, PSN name is CartridgeBlower as well. Although I have to warn, I'm just getting started at this game so I have noob written all over my face.

And yeah, I used the 'friends filter' on the leaderboard, but my name wasn't popping up. Maybe that has to do with the general delay associated with leaderboard postings. I'll check it out again tomorrow and it'll probably be there now that I've played a couple matches.

Already had two people rage quits against me, too. Is there no penalty for that in this game?

Ah, I finally started playing this game tonight. Only as Jin though.

The guy is nuts, lol.

I'm having a bit of trouble pulling off his right down diag then hold right moves though >.>

Volcynika, haven't seen you in a while... let's play!

and cartridge, are you on psn? you should join the gafchat if you are

Been busy as hell at work, but it should calm down tons after Sept 1st, but I also think I'm getting an off day due to having too much overtime and needing to balance that out this week :lol

Yeah, they get a dropped game added to their drive card, which then will eventually red flag them.

The same goes for you too. :/

Wait, so if they disconnect on me, I get red flagged, too???

Why the hell is it so hard for developers to get this right...urgh...

You don't get red flagged if you only have a small percent of your games are disconnects. If it reaches a certain point, you get a red flag. You can always see their dc's at the bottom of their card.

I think BB handles it well. While it might seem bad at first, there's not nearly enough droppers for people to get a red name without actually being the one dropping.

Yeah, that's my biggest gripe with this game myself. It's so unintuitive and yet there is absolutely no in-game tutorial >8(.

Anyways though, I've found this site to be a big help: http://s1.zetaboards.com/blazblue/pages/index/

Good luck!

Anyone know how Arakune can counter Jin?! Almost every jin match i play i lose, it can get close though if they are not too good. What move for arakune to use after blocking icecar? I dont always instant block the second one is that ok? How do you counter mid air icecar while arakune is in the air?

Oh yeah Volcynika, you stopped playing!

Damn, Rachel sure is difficult in score attack mode, I've got to her 4 of the 10 times that I've tried to beat score attack mode and I still can't beat her

If you want an easy way to beat score attack just use Jin's ice car and grab them when they are frozen, guard/evade when they cancel your grab.

and when you fight jin (as jin) just stay far away from him and throw ice blades.

and don't forget the 2nd controller trick, very handy for unlimited ragna who is a total pain in the ass.

I'm thinking of importing the Japanese version of the game, it seems to be in stock more, and I was told that it has full English menus and English language section. Is this true?

I have the PS3 version. That is correct.

Wow the visuals really were disappointing when I tried this game. And not just the art style...

The backgrounds are a mess (and in 3D goddammit) and the animations look really choppy.

I disagree with you on the backgrounds, I think they're fine.

Animation is very choppy though, but I imagine it's a necessary evil as far as pacing of the game goes. I wouldn't mind if external things like intros and winposes were animated more fluidly though.

I just got this game today for my 360 and being the newbie that I am with fighting games, could anyone recommend me a character that is pretty much newbie friendly to play. :)

the general consensus is that the easiest 3 to pick up are Jin, Noel and Ragna. Sometimes Tager and Hakumen is thrown in there too.

edit: beaten =(

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to try them out. The first character I ever tried was Litchi and boy did I have no idea what the hell was I doing. :lol :lol :lol

Honestly though, if a character sticks out to you and you really want to play with that character, I would suggest to play with him/her.

Easier to pick up doesn't necessarily mean that you'll learn faster -- just means that their moves are more abusable or mashable. At higher level play, Noel, Jin and Ragna become harder to play with and you usually end up have to put as much effort as if you played the other characters.

Just think Ken from SF4 :D

Whatever you do, don't play Carl!

Actually the reason I even bothered to try Litchi the first time around was because of the titties. :lol :lol

then it stuck out in a LITERAL sense :D

Carl has THE biggest learning curve for the game. I might be in the minority here but I really think that once people figure him out, he'll be top tier. BUT, Carl is so lag sensitive that maybe for online play, he may not be the best to pick.

I think it's likely he has the biggest learning curve in fighting game history.

WTF! I have only lost to one Carl (out of like 7 of them I played) and that's only 'cause I got careless.

Seriously, it's so hard for Carl to get you into the loop in lag. And even if I do get caught, I have wind so I get the hell out of there.

... from the pictures shared by the Arc Euro person.

Pretty interesting, this is the first time I have an idea of the "real" size of this character and maybe a glimpse of his fighting style.
