So about the story mode and its three branching paths for each character... what does that mean exactly? Does it mean it's so epic that you would have to play through it three times per character to see the entire story?
Btw, are you gonna do story mode first or online? imma beat at least one character's story mode first and then try online with that char. Prob get slammed if u jump into online right away u know what i'm saying...

If it's anything like Guilty Gear, the battle outcome determines the path (ex: winning by time up, losing, etc.) That determines the ending of the character -- good, bad or, er...i dunno.

Yeah it's both visual novel style + battle results.
For example Litchi has like 7 different paths in her story:
Lose to Character A, then choose Path B and fight Character B
Lose to Character A, then choose Path A and fight Character C
Win against Character A, choose Path A and fight Character B
and so on, and so on.
Game is definitely fun, although ranked matches are a bit of a bitch right now, lots of solid players online. I played against a couple of people who already qualified for SBO and they were toying with me online lol. Got up to 100 ranked matches and I think I'm around 50% win rate with my scrubby Tager. I really need to get the 720 down but it is MUCH harder in this game than in any other fighter with a 720 motion.

Based on what I've seen if you get in on her she's basically screwed as she doesn't really have an answer to rushdown at all. But she can zone extremely well and that's her thing. I wish she were toned down a little more but I've had that same opinion about Sagat in SF4 and lately I haven't really had a problem with him. My game and artbook are still verifying and I never got a shipping email so I'm not getting my hopes up about getting it tomorrow. But maybe they just haven't updated the status yet.

you also get endings when you lose (game over at the same time) those usually contribute to bout 1% of the story completion.
so to get 100% on a character you have to win and lose all the fights you've encounter (all branches too)

For whatever it's worth to the rest of you who preordered from GameStop and are now showing backordered, here's what I got when I just bravely tried to cancel my order.
I think it's safe to assume it's not on backorder, considering.

My order at Gamestop just changed to shipped. The tracking number doesn't bring anything up in UPS' system yet but that's typical; it's taken another 6 hours at least in the past for Gamestop orders to filter through the tracking system and report.

Man, watching that justin.tv stream just makes me want to beat up on V-13's all day. I don't see how it can so hard to defend against almost pure projectiles. Are some of them not air-guardable or something?

No, it is HARDER than an ST 720, that's for sure, because you need to buffer it into something... apparently it's nearly impossible to do it naked or walking. There are lots of discussion about the 720 over at dustloop if you want to check it out.
