The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

Whoa, the game arrived at the OKC UPS(basically 20 minutes away from me at most) this morning at 6:47 am according to the tracking info. The scheduled delivery date says 7/02 though. Could I expect to get it today? I don't usually track my packages this closely, so I'm not sure what to expect. It would be amazing to get it today, especially since i chose the free, slowest shipping method when I ordered.

I've watched plenty of videos, but, being new to the series, I really don't know what I'm watching. I love the art and the characters and the music... not an issue... it's really the *system* that intrigues me the most. How different is it from SF4's (or SF in general)? Is the learning curve large (or... similar to most Fighters)?

It has the same universal concepts that a lot of fighting games have, but (if you play rts games) it's like comparing Command and Conquer to Starcraft, feel me?

Anyhows, the game might look a little intimidating, but the movement system and the Drive button makes it immediately accessible to most new players.

Great, the first disk of the OST was popped off and was probably moving around a lot, already has a few scratches on it. -_-

Bang does not tell jokes. Bang only knows two things. Shurikens and Rushdown.

Bang almost never uses his sword in battle, because he fears he might split the world.

Bang could go "Super Saiyan" if he really wanted to, he just doesn't because the universe might explode due to the awesome.

Just got it...wow the packaging is high quality. I almost feel bad to get all this stuff for 60 bucks. Two separate blu-ray cases + like blu-ray discs + a full-color lengthy manual. I hope the game does well financially.

Yeah, I thought the game case felt a lot thicker than usual, I haven't seen a ~50 page full color manual in a long time(and no dual language stuff here).

Don't know if its a glitch or I just pushed something, but in training mode I somehow changed the character I was controlling while looking in the manual on how I block.

Oh, I see what I did, I pushed record.

Most likely one of the triggers.

If it's UPS and scheduled for 7/2, it may just sit around until 7/2. I've had packages on 3 day select sit in a town an hour away from me for 2 days and then arrive on the scheduled date.

Some quick thoughts after a few random vs. matches vs. the CPU:

- holy fuck, game's incredible
- I absolutely love the pacing (the characters walk slower and more methodical compared to other fighting games like SF4), it gives you time to do stuff
- i like the special attacks mapped to the right stick for casuals like myself
- the graphics are amazing
- the special attacks look sick

loving the game

Every Aksys game I have ever bought, with the exception of Accent Core Plus, came with a full-color manual. And Accent Core Plus made up for it by coming with a free Soundtrack.
Aksys really knows how to treat their consumers well.

This is little offtopic but I no one bought one in the arcade stick thread. Anyone order a TE stick or SE stick from the gameshark store? Its been 2 days and it hasnt shipped yet, was wondering if this is normal. Was hoping to have it today for blazblue but oh wells.

Just to give you an idea of how incredibly varied the fighting style is for each character...these are the first 4 or 5 chars I tried:

- one that uses a revolver as her main weap
- one that seems to be some sort of cat and uses claw attacks
- one that uses a rod (like Gambit's) that she places on the ground and does weird stuff with
- a massive dude that charges electric attacks and has a Zangief-like piledriver
- a chick that uses freeze attacks like sub-zero

all played completely differently... it must have been really hard to make this balanced with such different characters

btw, what do you guys think of the right stick for special attacks? Tager (the huge guy) and his pile driver that takes two full 360 rotations and some other button can be done with a simple UP on the right stick. You could probably spam that easily

Spamming attacks in GG was never very useful, I doubt it would be in this game. Just a total different beast than SF.

That is a different attack, the one you're talking about is one rotation + A or B, the two full rotations is MUCH more powerful but I can barely pull it off.

Just picked up a copy (360) from Gamestop. I generally use Amazon for my game purchases (10% ECA discount + prime), but impatience got the better of me. Between this and SF4, I've got a lot of fighting game goodness in my future.

I'm pretty sure the host has the option of turning that off.

How are you supposed to beat any projectile-heavy char with Tager? I just fought the pink blob Arakune with Tager and I couldn't even get close to the guy. He used this attack that put pink rays around me anytime i tried get close and tager move so slow that i can't get close

Huh. Am I missing something? No HDD install for PS3?

Anyway. The game is one hellofva trip. Way way fun. Tried out Jin to start. Thought he'd be easy to pick up on but that's a negatory. Noel and Taokaka were pretty easy to start up on. But that's all I tried for the mean time. About an hour time in. Time to look up some combos.

Edit: Oh yeah, and where do I get into this gafchat thing?

I haven't played Tager that much, but I think that one of his drive attacks creates a magnetic field (those sparky lights) around the enemies which forces them to come closer to Tager.

Thanks, I was afraid it might work like that. It's still earlier than I originally expected to get the game, at least. If I didn't have it by this weekend it would have killed me! :lol

Ok, I guess I got to the end of one of the story modes, but I don't really see how I am supposed to get to other branches. There is only 2 fights I didn't lose at first, and that dialog choice...

Now to give the online a mode a try! Wonder how bad I will do :lol

"sorry consumer, we don't want your money"

Yeah, some of them like to be assholes and refuse to sell unless you preorder
they tell you to come back later

Preorders are first priority to some of those folk.

Try killing them with Astral Finish (you need to unlock most of them in Arcade Mode first).

maybe they were all preordered out and they are sacrificing 1 copy for a walk-in?

They ship whatever the day before as of open + a few extras to cover the following day but if they reserved more then that then who knows?

Then again thats just a possibility and they could have just been jerks!
