The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

Yeah, it'll take a couple of days to get up to speed. I was decent-to-good at GG, and I suck out loud at this.

I am so going to get worked then.

Shit.

I just called EB and apparently the game got pushed back to Friday the 3rd in Canada. (or at least in B.C.) And my day off happens to be on Thursday. =/

And I just skimmed back a few pages and saw a few posts like this. Damn it. I guess now I'll have more time for unpacking.

Also did I just read that haunts got banned a while back? Wtf, why?

Until August.. he got into a bad mix in the Tatsunoko vs Capcom thread. Lets just say he was wanting it on other consoles instead of just Wii for the sake of hardware he had (sticks) and the world imploded.. :lol

Excellent write up from haunts on his website (iplaywinner.com for those that don't know). He even links a couple matches of his AK... which he's apparently grown very fond of.

So how is the online in this...none of my friends are showing any interest and that takes away most of the value to me.

Awesome, lobbies, tons of options, ranked and player matches, good stuff.

If you were getting it for PS3, the online isn't very smooth right now but a patch is supposedly out shortly to fix the problem.

Can't wait to get more time with this tonight. I spent an hour or so before work in training mode with Tao and found a couple more good combos. I may take a look at the tutorial DVD to see what knowledge it may bestow upon my sorry ass tonight, too.

Oh, and I also took a couple of minutes to actually read the moves list, so I now know her DD input (QCF,QCF D) and am not flying blind anymore. Those double QCF/QCB's aren't giving me the trouble they seem to be giving a few of you, but I'm using my SF4 fightpad until my stick parts come so maybe that's why. I always find those a little easier on pads than on my stick.

At any rate, I think I actually have something to build upon now. So hey TOKU! Maybe you won't smack me to bejeesus and back next time. :lol

God damn looks like I have to go out and pick it up (probably tomorrow)...are there any places that have good deals for it? I know the LE is first come but don't really care about the extra crap anyhow...I would be getting it for the 360.

well, I had the rep of being a huge-ass Arc-hater, but what made me get this: a combination of these factors:

AKSYS doing a DAMN good job of porting/adding goodies
KOFXII delay
KOF98UM and Garou having such suckass netcode, that I don't trust SNK anymore
Tekken 6 delay making me not want to hold out four more months for sometthing new.

I loves fightan!

And they (Arc Systems) made Guilty Gear, so it was an obvious buy when it was confirmed for consoles. Gotta show em some love!

this fucking thread

Pretty much, two weeks ago I couldn't care less about the game
Yesterday I had the most fun with a fighter since the first time I played MvsC2

In my case, fighters are my life. Never been a pro player or anything, but I love them so much. Arc made the best fighter ever (for my taste at least) which was GGXX#R, so this was a blind buy.

I've always wanted to get into GG in the past but knew I was way way late to that party. BB caught my attention many months ago and I knew it was a game I was going to pick up and play. So glad I did because it's really fun. All the characters are unique. The music fits all around. 720p. 60fps. So nice.

This game happens to be much more along my tastes in fighting style versus SFIV. Plus I can't turn down my mecha goddess, v-13.

Was a fan of the Guilty Gear games. BlazBlue definitely looked like it would continue to trend of awesomeness.

Man going to be a bitch to do Noel's correct chain revolver move on demand. Mattering on which starter and how hits determines which sorta chain I'd have to do next. Also need to learn on the setups to put them into a chain and I need to get down her 6C loop juggle whic seems pretty important.

Ok, playing though the story modes, I think I am going to be a bit pissed when I finished since it seems unlikely that its going to ever really explain whats going on, come to a full conclusion, and I am not sure if all the official versions of the stories will line up.

I picked up one of the 2 ps3 copies at a gamestop yesterday. I haven't been able to play it yet.

I did pop in the soundtrack, I listen to about 5 seconds, then thought "This is exactly the music I was hoping to hear coming from this game" I haven't watched much footage, and it was sort of a blind purchase (though I'm a big fighting game fan). It hit the spot.

- Hai look at me throw u in a combo! So far from what I've played, a lot of the game's mixups seem to revolve around mixing in throw resets in combos, and attempting to get your opponent to tech how you want to set up your next mixup. I personally don't like the whole combo throw thing, but whatever.

- Arakune is win. BEEEEES

Something I just noticed today, if you throw them into QCFx2+C, you can move around while doing the distortion drive which makes it easier to continue the combo afterwards without relying on resets and tech traps. If you find anything good to use after this, plz let me know! At the moment I just do j.Ax3>QCF+C, but it goes blackbeat.

BlazBlue has more of an Animu weirdness and flashy special moves, so that's why I'm going with it.

Because it's freaking Guilty Gear renamed, and not the snoozefest SF4.

1.I never got very good at it but I loved GG.
2. 2D for life
3. Local arcade got it and the fuckers here are too good at sfiv, so a fresh game and system have deluded me once again into believing I can compete without 20 years of sf baggage and muscle memory.
4. 6 player lobbies, sfiv should be ashamed.
5. More use for my sticks investment.
6. This thread.

I still love sfiv

'cause it about time Arc System Works made a new fighter instead of a variation of GGX.

Specifically, I'm a fan of the Capcom vs. SNK 2 approach to making a 2d fighter stylish and cool. The annoucer saying weird things (live and let die--FIGHT), the music, the intricate backgrounds really making the characters pop. It seems like alot of that stuff is in Blazblue even if the style is different.

When I saw a short video, the backgrounds looked so intricate and well done that i just had to think the rest of the game had that quality.

I'm a big fan of melty blood so after watching how fast paced this game is, I decided to buy it.

Gotta admit. Getting rid of the Dust move from GG into BB makes the game much more enjoyable.

ER? Why? Dust launchers were pretty much useless, but the actuall moves (say baiken's/Sols air dust) were awesome.

I wish BB had FRCs though.
