The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

on ps3 if you hold down R2 it goes into super fast forward. Pressing R1 brings up a prompt asking if you want to skip the current scene, but it doesn't seem to work very well. Like sometimes hitting ok seems to not do anything.

I just hold down R2 and it will skip through most anything in a couple seconds.

Did you figure out if you can install?

So does Noel only say "HANDS OFF THE PANDA" while fighting a certain character? I think it was while using her optical gun, but I forget who I was fighting...

I can't wait to get home and play some more, just a couple things to do and then it's a BlazBlue night.
She says it when fighting against Litchi "Boobie Lady" because of the panda clip in her hair.

The load times probably won't bother most people but I despise any load screens that last more than 0.02 seconds and was asking around in gafchat if there was some way to install the game in the hopes of lessening that.

What's the deal about no install? Are the load times long?

Not really, however they are definitely longer than they are on 360 w/ install. The option to install should have definitely been there. If you don't have both, it's not really too noticeable.

I'd buy it, but the last time I imported a ps3 game to Poland it took a month to deliver and I'm pretty sure by the time the gaf hype train will leave and people will be asking "Blazwhat?". :lol

Go VG+, takes 5-6 days to reach Warsaw and they never get hit by Customs.

- SF4 easy mode inputs+ This game has even easier inputs than sf4, plus if you have a single button chain like A,A,A, all you have to do is hold down A instead of pressing it 3 times.

I'd agree with this for the most part. The game does seem way more strict, however, with what will pass as a QCF x2 input. I realized just how poor my execution was on that particular input (facing right only, though) when I played BB.

Load times are a huge deal in fighting games.

As long as they're acceptable I'm cool.
Indeed. At least an option to partially install the game would've been nice. Are you getting the ps3 version?

Any word on when the patch will be implemented for PS3 users?

As far as inputs go: I'm having a "fuck all" time trying to nail the "Dragon Punch" (DP) motion. And it's driving me insane!! I'd love to main or backup with Tager... but so many of his combos are linked to his DP+C special...... UGH!!

Other than that... I love the "ease" of the combo system. It's not about the skill of when you press the buttons (although that's there) it's more or less knowing your character's moves and what it does to your opponent... and then knowing what move will hit after. That's a hard way to explain it... the best examples I can think of are just if you watch how juggling is so important in the game... you need to know where your opponent will go airborne, bounce, etc. and then the range and properties of the next move (coupled with timing so that it combos). It really feels like aside from each character's BnBs... you can be creative and find your own combos if you understood your character long enough.

I could be WAY off... but I think the game allows for a lot of creativity.

Some questions (even though they might have been asked before -_-)

1 - is somebody playing this with the SF4 FightingPads? If so - does it work out good?

2 - does the us version of the game have the japanese music too?

cheers

I have been having trouble with DPs also. Granted I am still adjusting to an arcade stick on anything that isn't SFIV. It sucks because I can't do tsubame gaeshi or whatever of Litchi's which is a cool move. I always just end up placing the staff down instead :(

SFIV was extremely forgiving with inputs, especially dragon punches.

Took me a good hour before I could consistently get off a HCB->F super in BlazBlue.

I don't really understand that mentality of thinking but it's really not that big of a deal. Maybe I'm one of the few who doesn't see this as being picky with fighters. You have "Now loading...." flash through twice. Game loads. Fight.

Well. I mean if you didn't like GG, chances are you won't like BB. Just saying. I wasn't that big on GG myself but there's just something about BB that I enjoy a lot more. Maybe you should give it a rent first. Try before the buy method.

Edit: Oh! One of the big things about BB is the LE packaging. The Blu ray/DVD you get that's a tutorial. It's really helpful and it beats any damn guide you may find online if you don't understand the button combos. I guess that's one of the perks about this game I'm loving. Is what I get taught right out of the package.

QCF and QCB are no problem for me... but the shortcuts I used to use for DP are a no go. From what I can tell... you really need to land on down-forward for the move to come out... dunno... I got really upset after awhile! Input mode in SF4 Training mode was a godsend for me... it allowed me to see exactly what I was inputting (and, being a noob to both fighters and arcade sticks... I really needed this).

The best thing for me, at this point, I found, was to find a character that didn't use the DP motion -- rather, focus on the game's mechanics and system... and learn it without worrying about how to input certain moves properly. I really really wanna learn Tager, so for me, never going back isn't really an issue. Plus, Noel is a pretty tight character with a lot of variety so... I should be kept entertained for a little while.

So, finally bit the bullet and just picked this up on PS3, limited edition for less the cost of a standard game here. :lol

Looking forward to playing with some GAFers hopefully. Any Australian BlazBlue players here?

You have the option to see what you're inputting in training mode in this too. Somewhere in the options. I was doing it last night.

I haven't played it yet, but considering how similar it is to Guilty Gear I'd probably say it isn't. Or at the very least be wary of the similarities (i.e. try before you buy).

what's the deal with the jaggy text i've seen mentioned? i mean, how jaggy are we talking here?

It looks like the text is being resized, its noticeable at the start of Arcade mode. Some places it looks ok, some not. Tried all 3 display options in the game settings and its there regardless (Type B Display looks best overall imo) but I may try changing my console resolution.

Not a big deal at all but it makes me wonder if theres a similiar issue with the sprites that I'm not picking up on.

I picked up the 360 version yesterday to use with my SFIV pad and put a solid four hours in last night.

First off, this is such a great looking game. Several times I caught myself looking at little details in the background when I should have been defending myself. It's like Japan exploded all over my TV.

I started out with Bang for obvious reasons, and after a couple rounds of hilariously incorrect play (of course he plays like Chipp! he's a ninja too), I got the hang of countering until BANG BANG BANG BANG.

Hakumen seems much more my style, really, but I'm not convinced he'll hold up against a real live human being. Noel's gunkata combos are also a lot of fun, but again, she seems like a bit of a creampuff.

It definitely does seem like the game is much more strict about the DP motion, no shortcuts here. I'm also having some trouble with 360/720 motions, I've hit the 360 a few times in training, but I've yet to nail a 720.

Re: 360/720s -- Yah I hit maybe 2/10 I try. I keep jumping. Ugh. I need to stay away from Tager!

The SFIV pads work pretty well, but I'm sticking to my TE stick over it. When I have non-fighting game people (is there a better term?) over, I hook up 2 of those and it's alright. You definitely want to check your button mapping, though.

And _dementia... I can check that for you later tonight. I have my 360 hooked up to a 24" 1900x1200 display right now, and it slices off the right part of the screen, about at the 'E' in Noel on the P2 side. Not sure if that info is helpful at all!

note to self never pre-order on;ine again. The only game this worked for is Madden. They got that shit out the same fucking day....turns out they didn't know my credit card was changed..WTF i hate gamestop hkfundjvdbiflmrlnik,l

You can adjust the ratio in the Options menu. Default was too big for my screen as well. I think I put it on the 2nd setting... and everything fit perfectly after that.

Which display option do you use?, The default one fill more than the size of my TV screen, I use the second one but I got black bars on the left-right, tiny anyway. I guess the aspect ratio is not 16:9.

Has anybody that ordered from Amazon received their copy yet? My order status says it hasn't even shipped yet.
Same here, I assume Amazon will get it in stock today because my estimated delivery date is July 2nd. Next time I'm ordering from Gametstop.

Ah, it wasn't bugging me too much yet, but I think I'll get on that. Not having a TV has been kinda rough on me!

Can't wait to try out some Nu Gunda... v-13 stuff when I get back home from work. I had a killer time with her last night online, especially with D-smashing Noels. Funnels all day, every day. :lol

What's the best resolution to use if I'm using a 19' crt with the 360 VGA cables? I have it set to 1280 x 1024, but the black line above the picture are somewhat irritating. I understand my limitation, but does anyone have any advice?

When ordering games online, Gamestop is by far the quickest. If you want your order the day of release though, you must pay for overnight/1 day shipping.

Amazon simply doesn't get games like this in on the first day. You will always wait longer if you order from them.

Man I hope EB gets my copy in today, too bad I won't be able to play online for a few more days. Just moved and don't have internet yet. Oh well, that will give me a few days to get respectable.
