I just dropped $100 CAD on the MadCatz CE SFIV Arcade Stick.

Can I do any better for the money? Is this stick terrible? I read some reviews... but the buttons seem a little shoddy. And a Turbo button on the stick? WTF?

I'm going to wait to open it until I hear back from you, GAF.

Also, couldn't pick up BB since Canada Day bounced the shipping date to tomorrow for my EB, apparently.

That's what I have, and it works great for me. You can always upgrade it to sanswa parts for pretty cheap down the road if you wish.

Woohoo! I don't really like the way the actual buttons feel, and I kind of just want to block out the bumpers with inactive buttons/plugs so that I don't misalign myself.

Also, is it normal for stick to only have a square gate, rather than an octagonal one? Pretty sure that's what this one uses. (I only fiddled with it for a minute.)

Thanks for the info, Switch.

Square gate is the ONLY way to go! Fuck a goddamn octogon!

How do I handle getting juggled like a mothefucker in this game?

Should I just drop or what is the best defense?

I never played Guilty Gear / Versus games for precisely this reason. LOOKA THA LOTTERY HOPPER!

Meanwhile I know somewhere across the Internet this is the closest someone will ever come to orgasm in their life. . .

Are the guides detailed as in they:

-Show commands and animations in addition to explaining when to use said technique?
-Cover special characteristics of the characters? (I heard one can control the wind direction?)

Or are they just command lists with no other information?

Theres a lot of different guides. Its basically Characters -> Pick a character. Then I think its -Overview of the character (how to play them properly). With voice over and moves from a tourney player
-Moves - just moves with commands no talking
-Drives

I think thats what they are but I will double check in a bit. They're very detailed.

I finally faced a Nu online...but the player kept doing a barrier burst really early on, making it pretty easy. I had a god awful record with Jin on the first day, I noticed you can check the lifetime stats of each character and saw it was a wonderful 1-4! Now with Noel I'm 7-4, still not amazing, but it atleast brought me to an overall 50% win rate.

Oh, and Bang's Astral is DAMN hard to pull off, even in practice. It comes out slow and needs to be in midair, so I don't see that getting any use from me. Also a tip for Noel's, it says down charge up + C repeatedly, but what you need to do is down + CCC, up + C and it'll work.

I could be totally wrong about this but pay attention to the combo counter when you're getting juggled. If the numbers are darkened it means it's not a "real" combo so you should be able to get out of it. Alternatively you can barrier burst but I wouldn't really advise doing that unless you're really low on health and want to mount a comeback.

Note: A friend of mine noticed that about the combo counter and it seemed to work but again, could be wrong. If it's just the regular red the only way out is if they screw up somehow.

I picked up the game today after gamecrazy called in my reserve, I forgot I reserved the CE PS3 edition. Can't wait to play it later tonight.

How are you liking him? I've been sticking with him and he'll most likely be my main. I've seen some videos online of nice air combos...I soo wish I could do that. I look stuff up online and I read "jump cancel" and things of that nature and I get a headache.

Ha. Had a lobby going on with Jube and few others last night. Type A is not the way you want the lobby to be set as when you know-nothings in there. I felt bad. "It's my turn? Really? Well, alright then"

So far I've only tried two characters (and one of those only in Training) but I'm liking it. I really like the Drive button, most of the other things in the fighting system are things I would expect to see in a hypothetical Guilty Gear XXX, the Drive button is what really separates BlazBlue from Guilty Gear and all other fighters.

Last nights room was a ton of fun, Z3chs AF on Xtaker was awesome

So I tried this game. And I think it sucks.

All the slashes and anime-bullshit like effects make it hard to follow what's going on, the game just feels too chaotic.

The art design seems too loli and ultimately embarrassing.

Back to SFIV it is!

That's how I felt about Guilty Gear at first, but you get used to it.

Yeah, I'm stuck at 96% with Bang. I'm almost certain I've done the paths listed here (http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6067). Hrm.

Bang's was straightforward, you just need to win and lose to everyone in all the paths, he's the only 100% I have.

Noel is my second closest...stuck at 98%, for her you need to win and lose against everyone, and for her true ending(and more percent on the other path) you need to distortion finish every single person, lol. I don't know the last 2% I need though, Bang didn't need anything like that.

man this game is fuck awesome!!!!

gg's to kiryogi, akachan and tekno

tekno is a fucking beast in this game....lol

oh, and for anyone on PSN if you didn't get an invite to the BlazBlue gafchat psn room then add me, or FindMyFarms or Tekno Or Kiryogi and we'll be glad to send you an invite.

the lobby/online system is fucking awesome coupled with GafChat makes this game 100% good times.

now i'm just gonna spend a ton of time working on Noel, haven't decided on a secondary character yet though.

Played through arcade as Litchi. Fuck those last two fights are hard as hell. Took me quite a few tries but I'm glad I worked my way through it. Now to finish as all the other characters.

Maybe. I played only a few matches at a friends place.

It just seems to chaotic and flashy, and sparkly and shit. It's hard to follow or count frames etc.

The art I don't like, but I guess I could look past it.

I just played Hell level Arcade as Jin and didn't have many issues, though I set it to one round to ease the pain. The AI gets hit by his ice ride thing a lot, and he doesn't have to fight Hakumen who pretty much always destroys me. :lol

It's really not nearly as chaotic as I first thought, and the only way I see it being "flashy and sparkly" is if it was something like Ragna vs. Ragna and a ton of drive moves were being spammed.

Anyone playing Taokaka that could explain a little more of her air combos? I don't think I'm grasping the idea or how to use buffering (if there is any of it used).

So I really like this game, but I CANNOT play it on my crappy crt. It's just damn near unplayable. Probably gonna stick to local sessions at other people's houses that have hd sets until I get my own lol.

I have just started using her and have one basic air combo you probably already know =P

Look at the leaderboard for a little camera symbol.

Thanks.

Man my arms get worn out after lots of matches.

I'm still trying to decide on who else I want to focus on. I have Noel, and I kinda wanna go for Jin since he seems like an ice based Ky...hrm...

I'd say give it a bit more of a chance. While it looks chaotic and flashy at first, once you get used to it it isn't so bad. I'd say MvC2 and GGXX are both more chaotic, BlazBlue strikes a nice balance.

I find, generally speaking, fighting games can feel weird at first especially if I'm used to another game, like SF4 in this case. Movement feels off, priority feels off, etc just because I'm so programmed to playing a different game. But after playing for a bit your mind readjusts, at least for me.

I just found this without thinking to look here:

Shit has some great info. To the training room!

Edit:

4b+c -> 236cc -> 2d~9 -> j.c -> 9d -> j.c -> 9d -> 236bbbb

This looks like the bare basics of what I was looking to do. Seems mastering this will help later on when more mix ups come into play.
