The BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Official Thread [360/PS3] - Be Ready for the Rebel

I'd say try some of the other characters.

Tried and they're not working for me.

Either I can't get the hang of their move set; or they have some micro management game play mechanic of tend your zombie, tend your mines, tend your planted projectiles, so on and so forth.

Honestly, this is what I expected from the game though.

I just purchased to support the remaining 2D developers on PS3. :\

I can't believe that dude from ASW was talking shit about the accessibility of that new Dimps/Capcom fighter; but they pop out a fighter with even more insane sub systems and esoteric game play mechanics.

Yeah, this is wayyyyyyy more accessible than those other fighters.
Not a rolleyes icon big enough.

I really wish the ranking system dispensed points based on the level of the opponent you face + damage inflicted during match. Fucking blows to face LVL30 opponents and only get two fucking points for being ass raped.

Tager vs Arakune is an 2:8 match up in favor of Arakune, FWIW. When you face characters like Hakumen, things will be more even. Anyone who is a zoning character will rape the shit out of Tager, really.

BTW, ranked matches do give points depending on the level of your opponent and other bonuses... you get more points if you barely beat an opponent higher in level than you than if you double perfected someone much lower than you, but it only affects points payout if you win the match... :X

I gotta say; the only thing I'm digging about this game are the options and netcode.

netcode is amazing, so smooth. it might lag during the intro of the stage and character opening quips but it quickly gets to normal once the actual match starts (which is most important). Capcom and SNK needs to take some notes.

Seriously. I'm having fun with BlazBlue, but I wouldn't use the word "accessible" in my description of it (maybe compared to Guilty Gear).

yeah I agree and disagree with you at the same time. I suck at most if not all fighters but I have 2 (YAAAAAAAAY) whole wins and I actually feel like I was better than the other player. the thing is that I use Tao and she's pretty easy to use. other characters not so much.

Jin: I can't get most of specials down pack with out the stick of easiness so i just end up using his spammy sword attack

Ragna: in story mode I seemed like I knew what I was doing but he has no range which ends up with me jumping into ass kickings

Noel: I cannot resist spamming D...so I don't play with her much.

Litchi: I don't even know what I'm doing..

Akarune: the hell.....seriously

Carl: yeeeah no...

Tager,Bang, Nu-13, Hakumen: I haven't even touched...Tager is a huge character which I never use, Nu is supposedly cheap, Hakumen is meh, and I just don't get Bang.

Rachel: I WANT TO LEARN....but I just dont get it..

but this game is fun as hell...and perhaps I can get better...but yeah it's a lot more work to get good with everyone

So I finally got around to seeing why everyone was griping about Hakumen in arcade mode. Bah. And I have to complete it to get a character's astral, at least some of 'em. Bah. Bah it to hell.

So that makes the odds 0:8 because it's me. :lol :lol :lol

Allegedly the top ranked PS3 player's main is Tager; I'd love to see him in action.

Bang is post-op Ibuki.

On the bright side not everyone has to fight Hakumen.

Gah. Even as a scrubby SF player this game sounds pretty accessible. Something about this game has made me chose it over SFIV. I'm a diehard (in that I prefer it, not that I'm good at it.) SF guy, but I'm going for BlazBlue after reading a lot of reviews.

TL;DR: When I get BB tomorrow, feel free to join me in the Scrub Zone. GT: soultron

You could change the difficulty... but I'll warn you.

Real men don't

And to everyone I just played with HOLY HELL awesome game yall... I wish I didn't have work tomorrow D:

I got my ass beat SO hard but honestly that was the most fun I've had on XBL since I first started playing SW: BattleFront, bar none. Online is amazing, while I did have some lag it was all just in the form of some pretty negligible input delay. Nothing so bad as SSBB. Not that it really mattered... I got whooped anywho :lol

Oh and Taokaka's baseball was funny as hell:lol

Damn straight, that's why I use her, she's just so damn entertaining. And it's kinda fun to trap people in that nasty claw thing.

Good matches with ya'll! :D

I'll probably be on again sometime tomorrow.

214a is your friend. 214b is also great and it's overhead so a lot of people get messed up by it.

Man, starting to get Lichi's combo down but I still lose badly to noel spammers. Lichi does crap for damage, but all it takes is one of noel's drive attacks to hit and I end up taking 30% life.

Need to know how to interrupt it.

I love Carl to death, but I'm not touching the game again until my stick get in.. which is hopefully tomorrow.

This game is friggin' awesome and the online is.. well, it puts SFIV to shame. I haven't been this happy with a game right out of the box in ages.

CAPCOM? ARE YOU LISTENING? Give us ubiquitous match recording!! :|

i kept eating that trying to parry you lol

Towards the end I stopped using it too much. You started parrying it so I kinda just waited for you to try your little 2 hit standing combo thing (Barrier block) and get you on the recovery. I still need to learn to pull off the distortion in a clinch. God damn half circle.

No more bullshit ultras to save the day! I can't go back!

I dunno, I play Arakune who has an easy throw to super combo for 30%-ish damage. Makes me feel dirty whenever I use it.
Makes me feel sad whenever I flub it :(
Pulled it off once against a Taokaka who accidentally Burst at the start of the game. Took her from 60%+ to death. I felt sorry for her... she'd almost beaten me, too.

If the PSN room's still rockin', mind sending an invite my way? PSN RiOrius. I need some good competition--I keep beating people even though I suck. Maybe Arakune's just Easy Mode or something...

Saw that today actually, absolutely ridiculous. Aside from that though, I didn't realize Arakune did so much damage. His sharkmouth tailwhip combo (it's like a 4 hitter) just EATS health.

Nah, he's this game's Faust.. So, unpredictable as hell and nobody will know what the heck you're doing until it's too late :lol

It'll be a little while, but the dedicated players will figure his game out and knock him down a few pegs.

I find, you just gotta keep him on the ground. His air game will fuck you up, especially for me as a Ragna player. I just try to bide my time, hopefully while dodging curse and just general waiting on him to give me an opening I can punish. It's rough and you can end up with the negative status. I never jump at him unless I'm sure I can get away with it which is fucking rare.

I think I've decided that Nu is my best character. Using her sometimes feels cheap though. Lots of people think of her as a ranged juggler but her neutral and forward C attacks can be pretty crazy.

Phew. Played a number of ranked matches and went winless in all of them. At least that part feels like Street Fighter. In the last match I got a good chuckle because my opponent was V-13, she'd do that blade fan thing, I (as Bang) would launch up into a wall, come back, blade fan, wall, come back. Every time Bang would say "God Damnit". It gave me a good chuckle.

Not much I could do against this fellow. He had amazing combos up close and personal instead of the usual V-13's I've seen.

I'm loving this game. I always play ninja characters, and I hated how much damage Chipp took in the GG series, so Bang is such a nice change. I just think the game is so unique and fun, so intricate and polished, that it's a blast to play. I can see certain characters getting annoying (kosmos bitch, for example), but right now just learning the game is great. I wasn't interested in anybody other than Bang before I got the game, but after watching a few of my friends play I'm definitely going to learn 3 or 4 more.

Very pleasantly surprised by this. I haven't tried online yet, but if it is as good as people say then I'll be playing this game for some time to come (probably until BlazViolet or whatever comes out).

BANGBANGBANG!!!!

Yeah, I tend to go up close and personal myself. Like I said, her forward C attack is pretty crazy. When the whole thing hits it hurts ALOT. Her neutral C is also great because it's great at keeping enemies at a distance. It's fun when you start mashing it and some Jin player rides the ice towards you and just gets slapped by it. :lol

Just curious, were you playing about 2-3 hours ago? That actually might have been me. =P

God damn, screw v-13 in arcade. :lol

I'm playing through as Arakune, barely knowing what the hell I'm doing, and I simply cannot beat her normally. After a ton of tries I beat her one round, then she goes into batshit mode for the next two. She'll counter with those multihitting closerange moves, push me back, do that sword shooting distortion and while that long attack is being done, throw out more swords to utterly destroy the barrier, and have you on the other side of the screen for more sword eating!

Then when I finally grab her and use the super combo mentioned above, I see her health drain quickly then slow waaay down near the end. I heard the concentration of health was mostly near the end for her, which is damn annoying because when she is almost out of it she just won't go down, gains heat normally, and then she gets off another sword distortion that rapes my half repaired barrier and then I usually lose there.

1 round arcade from now on! :p

I can confirm that! My Taokaka's overhead kick hits the air most of the time when she's doing her stuff. =(

BTW, Will buy Taokaka's real face as DLC!

ggs man, that arakune corner trap is frickin hell to get out of once you get caught in it. lol

edit: i'm loving this game!!!

i love that i get to learn a new system and not revert to old tactics like i would in SF.

I'm gonna work on Noel's combo's a bit more and after i get more comfortable with those i'll move on to finding a second character.

currently eying Rachel or Litchi as a secondary.
