Yeah right as if the average gamers would play game this way.

It looks like a magnetic system has replaced the button latch, that's nice. No real surprises if you were alive for the leaks and no real details in this short teaser.

It is good, in itself, that Nintendo is doing iteration here and carrying forward the Switch library (presumably) and momentum, and not shooting themselves in the dick replacing the buttons with tentacles or some weird shit.

Hopefully some 3rd parties will start spilling the beans cause Nintendo made the most underwhelming hardware announcement since... Ever?

Excited for it but this was lame as hell for a new console announcement. Fart in the wind type of announcement...I guess it was to just announce it officially otherwise not even Mario can plug those leaks...April is the real reveal.

That wouldn't work. If I were to place the Switch in dock mode, next to the TV, why would I want to use the extra screen when I sit far away from the TV?
of course they could, they could show charge level (seeing as the dock also charges the Switch), they could do something simple like display the health status of the character just by changing the screen to red, or green or whatever to show simple health feedback (some game on PlayStation use this for example on the controller), they could display the time, lots of little things they 'could' have done that doesn't affect backwards compatibility or anything like that (they may still do, you can see some of the screen, but the argument is they could have changed the dock to show more of the screen and actually make it useful in docked mode, but the thing is allow devs to access the screen while docked as they are the ones that could come up with some unique ideas.

I can understand why they didn't call it the Super Switch. Normie customers would probably be confused by it and they're probably still scarred by the WiiU debacle.

But they're still fucking cowards. Switch 2 is a boring-ass name. They could've invoked the Super Famicom era by name, would've been way cooler. Add in that kind of colorway (the japanese red/green/blue/yellow, not american purple/pink - sorry it was a bit shit) it couldve been awseome. Instead its switch 2 in drab black.

Fucking cowards.

Most meh reveal ever, cant belive they showed a Switch transforming into a Switch 2, it just screams incremental upgrades, you would never see sony announce the ps5 as a ps4 transforming into a ps5.

Also why the hell is the direct several months away, would laugh if this came out during the holidays instead.

Would be interesting to see how the non tech savy consumers view this reveal?

I thought this was extremely smart. What everyone even on this board says is "lol, it's just a Switch".

When the video made you watch it actually getting bigger, see how much larger the joycons are from them expanding. Nintendo basically did what I didn't want to bother convincing people here, in text. That it would be way more comfortable.

They come from the massive WiiU gaffe where people didn't even know it was a different system. Their prime directive with the reveal is to convey this fact in the most fundamental visceral way possible and slap a giant 2. I wish they had done more, though.

$499.99. Believe it!

Good thing they went with Switch 2. There is no mistaking it.

Who am I kidding? I can already see kids still getting the wrong one due to the model being so similar. Come on, parents. Don't disappoint your children :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Oh, and great to see a new Mario Kart!

Am I crazy for thinking this might have mouse functionality. There's a bit in the trailer where the 2 joycons are racing each other on a desk?
Is there something going on with the wristraps or?

It is heavily rumored that the Joycons indeed have a mouse functionality since they apparently use sensors that can be used for that. Would be awesome for Mario Maker 3 or Animal Crossing, tbh.

Well In that case I think this all but confirms it.
Question is if this is true what kind of mad games will Nintendo have for it. :)
