Wuthering Waves |OT| - Devil May Impact

I am now at Sol phase 3. I really only want to play the story and I wasn't planning to grind Ecoes. But yes, I hardly have a selection of echoes at the moment.Echoes
They give quite a lot of stats, and at first just bring it to level 10. I would not say that farming takes a lot of time, you have rifts right on the world map where the set parts drops, one run costs 120 energy and gives many different Echoes at once. The main Echoes - 4 , it is easiest to farm, bosses appear continuously, you can kill them as much as you like, they are worth nothing.

You can use the beginner build
4-4-1-1-1 if you don't want to farm 3.
It's more than enough to get through the story.

this topic is for you, you can also take a look here. This topic is not about these games, you can discuss it there.
If you're really that interested in why Sony used this trailer, well, write them this question. We don't have such information here, and it's unlikely that anyone on Neogaf has it.
First, In those videos from Monster Hunter the framerate drops too and the resolution is low like the beta we had.

Second, it's you who began the offtopic here. Comparing Wuwa performance to Infinity

According to all the marketing materials, they are preparing to reach the 60 FPS threshold. Let's see what comes out of it.
Can you specifically point out to me the place where I compared WuWa to Nikki?

Yuria Miyazono has just released a remastered version of the original song that was used shortly after you reach Rinascita and step into the open world.

I think it would fit well in your thread about the best game songs with vocals M Mayar . :p

Just completed that secret quest with Lorei two hours ago. It was dope and I so wish Kuro would let us replay it. Anyway, here's my footage with immersive mode which I too will be putting under a spoiler tag.
I was scared at the same moment, that the quest can't be repeated. + Those who don't clear the map or don't do all the quests or just accidentally stumble upon it can miss it and not hear this song.
But I just checked it out specifically, through a musician in the city. If you collect notes around the world, it's hidden in one of them. That is, you can at least listen to it separately without a quest, here it is

I gave myself a clear rule, if possible, not to raise the topic myself and not to post anything for the sake of raising the topic, I did not create it for this, if people are interested in the topic, it will rise.

I just tested the game in my PS5 pro. I think I haven't played any other game with worse performance than this one.

Thank you!
Yes the game runs poorly. It’s honestly astounding how bad it is for the simple graphics the game has. Especially when other similar games (Genshin , ZZZ) run flawlessly.

That said I got my havoc rover now, I’m a one winged angel now lol

That's fair. I'll probably bump your topic over the weekend and include this song from Yuria Miyazono. I just need to think of a couple more that I'd like to mention for the thread.

I finally managed to build Empyrean Anthem + Hecate (4-3-3-1-1) on Zhezhi, the last 3 piece on Glacio DMG with more or less normal stats, just refused to drop. What can I say, her DPS and the DPS of the group increased quite significantly (Previously, she was usually built from Moonlit Clouds + Impermanence Heron). Of course, I will wait for the final tests from more knowledgeable people, but I feel like this will now be the best set and combo for Zhezhi and Yinlin (She needs to build Empyrean Anthem + Nightmare: Tempest Mephis).

New survey dropped with a lot of stuff in it, including what kind of waifus and husbandos we'd like to see in the future, weapon types, new environments, etc.

There's a lot more in there!

Well, now we can definitely say that the next three characters in the banners are Roccia -> Phoebe -> Brant
Let's see what happens in the reruns, for me everything is going well so far, I can save up until Zani's release. :messenger_grinning:
Nice! Going to save up a lot of pull currency so maybe I'll manage to S1 or even S2 both Shorekeeper and Changli when they'll be rerun. :messenger_smirking:

Same. I'll use my guaranteed on Brant and go for his weapon.

After that it's save mode for Zani, with hopes they don't drop Scar somewhere in between (my most wanted character).

Hot damn, that's an extremely detailed survey they're doing.

I don't think there's necessity for new weapon types right away. They've been really creative in that, it's not like the types themselves are blocking their creativity.

Kuro just already made a similar character in Punishing Gray Raven - Lucia: Crimson Weave. They can do it, fitness characters with a well-developed figure in my opinion appear too rarely in games. Cat ears are a nice bonus :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Seems like Brant's kit is out (leaked):

What the hell, on paper he seems like a jack of all trades: DPS, Buffs, Shields and Heals.

He will pair pretty good with Changli by the looks of it.

Changli, Brant and C6 Mortefi .

Hmmm, Fusion Hybrid is not quite clear from the description, apparently it is more Single Target oriented, Fusion buffs the damage of the next character in the rotation, there is a shield and a little healing. Here you need to see it in real life, too many things are very similar to Jianxin (several roles in one character at once). According to this leak, this is either 2 or 3 support. Do they really want Changli to play a DPS role? This is both good news and not so good news considering that she is the second most difficult character after Calcharo. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Also Phoebe's:

Hybrid DOT DPS with two combat stances. Here we need to see how the DOT will work, but to be honest I didn't expect that they would make DPS out of her.

Her DPS is entirely dependent on your hands and how well you master the Cancels mechanics, she has very long animations that need to be interrupted, this increases her DPS and makes combos safer in terms of taking damage.
This is actually the difference in DPS and whether or not to use Swap-Cancels on her.
rVIG7UZ.jpeg
So no, she is not a simple character. And yes, I love her too. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:
Your DPS on her depends entirely on your hands.
Xiangli Yao
He is a very simple character, you can basically spam the same combo with him and everything will be fine. One of the reasons why players switched from Calcharo to him is that he does the same thing but much simpler and easier.

Seriously, lol. I was planning on getting that new Eternal Radiance set for Spectro Rover. I still will though. :messenger_sunglasses:
There is a possibility that this set is for Phoebe, although considering that they wrote that in 2.1 there will be new Echoes sets, they can place her set there, although perhaps they write this about the Nightmare versions of the remaining 4 and not the full sets. Just as for Rover (Spectro) - his role in the game is still a support healer, and you can of course make DPS out of him, but there is no particular point :messenger_grinning:

Bro thinks he is a beyblade.

Looks way more fast and fluid than I was expecting.

Oh captain, my captain.
Looks interesting, judging by everything more Single Target oriented, clearly has Cleave. Basically everything you need for a full 2, went out into the field quickly did everything you wanted, gave DPS buffs and left.
Also, Phoebe gameplay:

We had DPS shooters, now the game will have a DPS ranged Mage for fans of this kind of gameplay.
Her animation during the ult, sorry, couldn't resist

Considering Phoebe is the one belonging to church, it would make much more sense for her to be the healer / supporter.

But I kind of also understand and praise them for wanting to do the most non-logical thing.

What I liked about Phoebe was the broom animations. Like people pointed out on reddit, she's basically Cardcaptor Sakura.

Still, Team Brant for me. Dude looks really fun to play.

Dudes, I just can't get over how nice looking the atmospherics in this game are.

9YYUAow.gif

That's something I noticed ever since 1.0, the skyboxes are insane. Especially during the (way too rare) rainstorms. They really need to bump up the weather frequency. I think I can count on my hand how many non-scripted rainstorms I've been in, and they look so cool.

Anyways, regarding the Phoebe/Brant gameplay, both a skip for me likely. Maybe on a rerun down the line. Brant looks like the half of Camellya's gameplay that I don't like, and Phoebe looks like a more stationary Verina. Nice visual effects and animation, but doesn't look fun to play either of them. I'll still give them a try in the demos, but a "likely no" from me from just witnessing their kits.

Good LORD! It's unbelievable how BAD the story really is (at least before 2.0) as I'm sure most of you already know. But holy shit, I kid you not, a few years ago I played and finished Xuan Yuan Sword 7 (Chinese action RPG) and It's an absolute masterpiece in comparison to unbelievably boring, generic crap with mountains of text, excessive exposition, pointless back and forth exchanges WuWa has. The whole thing is just super anti-climatic, overly serious, cliche and and banal to the point that you don't care about absolutely anyone and it can only live you with expressionless face and makes you roll your eyes so hard that.... And that's not to mention this thing:

The story in this game doesn't actually start until you reach Black Shores. This doesn't apply to the character quests, they're all done at a high level. This is of course purely my opinion, but it seems to me that what they're trying to do in 2.0 is essentially create a new starting area. In fact, they've moved almost all the bosses from 1.0 to 2.0 in the Nightmare versions and placed them on the map. It seems to me that they're trying to make it so that there's no point in returning to the 1.0 map. Same thing they did in Genshin, where you actually have the opportunity to skip the beginning of the game and actually go straight to the Fontaine. Here, as I assume, the idea is roughly the same, this is purely my guess, in a few patches 2.0 can actually become the starting point for players. At least as soon as all the remaining bosses from 1.0-1.5 appear on the 2.0 map in the Nightmare version, the previous map can be immediately forgotten.

It's good to know that they want to do something about it at least, cuz holy shit, if I were at their place, I would't let anyone touch anything 1.0 main story related as quickly as possible, cuz it makes such a bad impression that it underminds 2.0 improvements cuz of potential loss of players who might not even see 2.0 and waste all their time playing the worst story content the game has and like some of us already did.

I think they should get rid of the 1.0 completely and start everything from 2.0 cuz it so embarrassingly bad, that I can't think of a better way for them to let everyone forget that 1.0 ever existed. The only things they should save from 1.0 are character stories and remake them for 2.0 somehow with all the new stuff they added, but idk if it's even possible given how much work needs to be done.

Well, you've completed the worst part of the vanilla story, so everything from here on out will be a considerable improvement! But yeah, that Abby scene at the end there was cringe as fuck and went way too long. I usually tolerate a bunch of bullshit, but I just had to put that part on auto and do something else.

Next up is the Mt. Firmament storyline, where you'll immediately notice that things have improved (both the pacing of the story and the writing are much better). Black Shores follows afterwards, and that part is even better, IMO. Then there's the new Rinascita region, which is peak content for a gacha game. All the companion stories (I assume you haven't done any of them so far) range from good to great, too.

Not exactly, most people who play WuWa know why and for what they came to it and most of them are again fans of Kuro and Punishing Gray Raven. This will of course be an obstacle on the way of casual players, that's why they are making steps towards 2.0 and a new map. But in the end, everything will be fine for them.

By the way, they just announced that PGR will get a collaboration with this game, they are going in the right direction :messenger_grinning:

Well I’ve been throwing everything I’ve gotten into the banner and finally got Carlotta last night, and needed a weapon for her, pulled in the standard weapon banner and got the 5* gun, pretty cool.
I played most of yesterday and completed all the black shores stuff and now I’m just about to enter the new city with the gondolas and stuff.

Dang, I feel so bad for all those characters they've introdiced in the story, cuz they have to deal with all of this as well as we do. Someone should give a lecture at GDC on a subject of how not to write a story for a gacha game (or for any game for that matter).

Camera guys and animators did their best though for cutscenes with great staging, angles, wide shots, close-ups, compositions, slo-mo etc.

Can any PS5 players share their thoughts about the game so far?
I've 40h in the PS5 version all spent in the new Rinascita region that was added with the 2.0 launch, but before that I've played on PC (started WuWa 1.5 months ago). Do you have platform specific questions? If not, here are my impressions about the game which I've posted a couple of weeks ago before version 2.0 dropped.
I started just under a month ago after they confirmed there would be cross-progression between the PC version and the upcoming PS5 release, and I'll say that after putting 100 hours into it, I'm loving it. I'm really looking forward to the version 2.0 release on January 2nd.

The only thing I'm a bit bummed out is that I didn't start sooner so I could get The Shorekeeper, but it's no biggie; I'm sure they'll rerun her banner in two patches or so.

But to sum up my experience in pros and cons:

Pros:
  • Great combat for an open-world gacha
  • S-tier character designs
  • Great soundtrack in the later zones (check some of the stuff I'll link at the bottom of this post)
  • Pretty varied open world with good exploration rewards and interesting puzzles to solve
  • Traversal in the open world feels super good
  • The gacha system is fair and better than in HoYo games
  • Cool companion stories (I've played 4 so far, and they were all good to great experiences)
  • Dope cinematics (some of them are very well done)
  • Good art direction
  • Their English VA is excellent (haven't tried CN and JP dubs)

Cons:
  • The version 1.0 story is weak/boring, but it steps up significantly after that
  • Some events are annoying to clear if you don't have two or even three good teams
  • It takes a while to level up characters, as you need lots of materials (EXP, Ascension, Skills, etc.)
  • They could improve the menu user experience for controller users like myself (i.e. I have to use mouse and keyboard for managing my echoes efficiently)
All that being said, here are some my fav songs from WuWa OST:

They're also releasing some great MVs for their characters, like they did here with The Shorekeeper:

Overall the positives far outweighs the negatives. I think they have something special here and I hope they continue building on that with the upcoming version 2.0.

I just got the flying utility tonight and man, Genshin would never. Makes getting around the new map a breeze.

Calico345 Calico345
I just started about a week ago on PS5, never played the game before.
The game is fun, open world and very similar to Genshin but it has more edgy/mature aesthetic. The character designs are great. The story is OK, but doesn’t really get better until the black shores, a bit in. Although storekeeper repeats herself a thousand times essentially saying the same thing over and over, but even with that it was pretty good overall.
There’s a lot to like here if you’re into exploration and combat with an anime paint job. I’ve been having a lot of fun.
That said, the performance on PS5 is bad. Slow down, frame skips, stutters, etc. it’s not unplayable by any means, but after coming from Genshin, it’s noticeable. That’s one thing Genshin has in its favor, rock solid frame rate and excellent performance.

I'm like 6 hours in on the 2.0 story right now (been getting sidetracked and doing various things I run into on the map) and holy shit the night and day difference between 1.0 and 2.0. If this is the new standard for the game, I'm going to be very happy moving forward. The gameplay is diverse, never doing the same thing for too long. The scenes and camera work are awesome. The animations are great. The character emotion on even NPC faces is crazy good. The environments are so detailed and varied, lots of different feeling areas that have cohesive transitions from one to each other. The story itself is kinda interesting and I can't even tell for sure what's going to happen. I'm one rest away from starting Carnivale proper. Even the minigames are higher quality and more fun this time around. The battle challenges have objectives instead of just "beat it in X:XX time" being the only win condition. Some of them are really fun to try to do. I also don't know much since I don't use guides until I am done playing blind, but the various knights quest where you find them/kill them/get their swords/put them in the graves on that island has my attention too. I hope the reward is something actually good and not a Genshin-tier shit reward at the end. I love the world lore that Rinascita has. Shits all over Jinzhou stuff.

I also like how the new artifacts set effects are being used to build new team comps that maybe wouldn't have worked so well. Like that one new Havoc set is great if you wanna use Taoqi as a support, where previously she just used the generic Energy set.

I can't say enough good things about 2.0, coming from a guy that's been playing this game since the beta.

They even managed to maybe warm me up to rolling for Roccia. We'll see how my resources look at the time.

Bravo Kuro, bravo.

I'm excited to see where the story ends up when I finish it(?) tomorrow. I wonder if the fact that Lorelei looks an awful lot like The Shorekeeper will be touched on in the reveal. Also to me it seems there is a 99% chance that Phrolova is Carlotta's big sister and the first daughter of the Montellis

What's the best havoc set for Havoc Rover? I was farming Sonar Eclipse but notice there's a new set called midnight veil for him.

Also finally did the Somnoire dream waifu permanent quest. That shit was cool. The All-out Attacks similar to Persona are awesome.

If you're using Havoc Rover as the only Havoc DPS on the team, then the original one is still best. This one is nice if you have dual dps or a Havoc support with a Havoc DPS. I'm still unsure if I like Dreamless as Rover's main Echo though. The damage is ok, but I like Echoes that buff the kit, not the kit buffing the Echo.

If you run a dual DPS team of like Havoc Rover/Camellya/Shorekeeper, that new echo set probably gets a lot better.
