Wuthering Waves |OT| - Devil May Impact

Btw, this John Wicktorio event is super fun, but on my PS5 Pro it chugs quite a bit when there are too many effects happening on screen all at once. I actually burst out laughing during this gameplay I've recorded because I couldn't believe the fps could drop so low even with the optimization problems it currently has on PS5. At certain points this fight felt like a powerpoint slideshow (it feels worse while playing than this video shows). Does this happen on PC as well?

Nop, not at all. Super smooth on my end (I play on PC).

Welp, I guess they have a lot of work to do still on the PS5 version. Maybe patch 2.1 will bring some optimizations.

If i level up my characters to 60, will the enemies become more tanky? I actually have all the materials for 3 characters but I have little desire for tanky boss fights.

The strengthening happens when you increase SOL3 level with the uncap quest. By doing so, you unlock the ability for your characters' level caps to go 10 levels higher, but enemies immediately become 2-10 levels higher, including bosses. I'd recommend at the higher SOL3 levels to have your "main" team sorta pre-farmed so you can instantly level them to max level cap, and their weapons/the important skills. The time-to-kill for enemies increases quite a bit, especially from 60-70+

I mean, you’ll want to keep ascending regardless as there are game modes and events that can earn you Tides (pull currency) but that will be very difficult to do plenty of them as the enemies will often by Level 80, 90, etc. A few of the modes do offer trial characters that you can use but not all of them.

Also, some of the characters’ skills are locked until higher ascension.

But no, I’ve not noticed the bosses getting tankier. As a PS5 player, I’m impatiently waiting to get my characters’ levels high enough to tackle some of the game modes I mentioned.

What a goddamn BEAUTIFUL location with excellent water waves simulation (for UE4), incredible atmosphere, skyboxes and vistas, Venice-like city with lots of NPC, amazingly designed Echoes both in the city and outside of it (which reminds of some of the Persona 5 demons) etc. I just can't say enough good things about it and it absolutely destroys 1.0 map imho. Simply amazing work of art and art design, bravo, Kuro!

Finally got a chance to lvl up Carlotta to lvl 60 and got her some nice Echoes - she's basically fully equipped now, I only need to lvl her up to lvl 70 which... Well, the boss is not available anymore from the menu like before, so I need to get to it on the map to get the last 2 mats I need. Also got Jinhsi and I think tomorrow I'll get her the S rank sword for free after lvl 45 like the one I gave to Lumi, cuz I'm not going to risk pulls I have now (which is not much) and waste 70+ (or however many I'll have in 2 weeks) of them next instead of getting a character from 2.1 rerun. I know that there's no 50/50 BS and such when it comes to weapon banners in WuWa which is great, but I'm completely F2P (for now) and so I rather get a new character. Jinhsi is lvl 60 already (used all the energy and missing a few boss mats, but I'll get them tomorror to lvl her up to 70) with some great echoes and the dragon from Mt. Firmament as her primary echo. I already build a few teams for the endgame, can't wait to test them out in the tower and such.

The flight mechanic I don't like much cuz it's nowhere near close to Batman Arkham games or Horizon: Forbidden West which is a gold standard and you can't really get momentum by going down, get some speed, fly up and fly for a long time to where you want, you're just going down way to fast and it doesn't feel great. Maybe I'm missing something? The fact that you can use more stamina and fly more is still not the same thing as in Batman Arkham games amd it doesn't feel good. I think they need to work on this feature more and make it close to Batman Arkham games or Horizon: Forbidden West.

By exploring the map and doing activities specific to the multiple areas, you expand your flight stamina bar.

Also you can get momentum by fast flying down by pressing R1 and bringing the character back up.

It won't fix the flight mechanic though. The stamina is not the problem here.

I know, but it's not working the way I want it too work. It's not terrible by any means mind you, I just don't like how it works in comparison to Batman Arkham games.

Damn. I feel like a peabrain right now trying to beat Lifer at that tic-tac-toe game. Why is this so damn hard? Then again I always sucked at Tic-tac-toe.

You will have to intentionally lose to him a few times or else you'll have a very difficult time after beating him in tic-tac-toe.

I ended up beating him at the minigame 2 tries after I complained on GAF, but I already disabled 4 of his buffs so it was super easy anyways.. I really liked that area, totally unlike anything else currently in the game.

I had a bunch of gameplay I've recorded from Changli's companion story sitting on my SSD for quite a while now, and today I finally decided to go through all the footage and make a few Changli gifs. I think all of them are decently optimized, so I'll reupload them on Tenor for everyone to use as they see fit. Enjoy because the process took me like 2h, lol!

They will a bit but for me from 60 to 70 I can barely notice, if you’re leveled up and have even decent echos you will still be far more powerful then nearly any enemy in the game.

Survey's out for 2.0. I gave them almost all positive answers and remarks. In the freebie section, I mentioned giving us Rover outfits and reducing the overall price of costumes. The Jinhsi one was just way too expensive.

Anyone here mains/plays Xiangli Yao?

Whenever you use his Resonance Liberation, do you also get a floaty camera (more than usual) if the skill ends up one shooting the enemy and ending the battle?

This is an old "feature" of the game. The camera when the battle ends and time stops and it flies around the stage, sometimes behaves funny, this is not only a problem with Yao, it happens on other characters too, it's just because of certain animations and the position of the camera in battle on some characters it happens more often than on others.

Which characters also have this behavior?

I only see it with Xiangli Yao, no one else.

I mostly play for Jinhsi now, if the fight ends and she is high in the air , the camera can sometimes show her legs, it rarely happens - camera flies off to the side and she is not in the frame at all. Well, and we also like to show what's under her dress... (But this is a nice bug, so I'm not complaining :messenger_tears_of_joy: ). I have no idea what it depends on, as it seems to me, it depends on the animation that was at the end of the fight but did not have time to finish before the time stop began. In the case of Yao, it seems to me that it is simply more obvious because if the time stop occurs at the moment when his shot is fired, despite the fact that the fight is over, the camera is still trying to track where the shot landed, and since the fight is actually stopped, you see how the camera flies after his shot. But these are purely my assumptions, the camera in this game often acts up, especially in tight locations and rooms.

Do they not have showcases (and more importantly, redeemable codes for free currency xd) like hoyo games?

Currently sitting at:

31K asterites
37 Radiant tides
15 Forging tides
60 Lustrous tides

Man, it's been ages since I pulled for something :messenger_loudly_crying:
Damn, with that number of pulls, you'll be getting a few Brant dupes as well (if you wish). 😎

I'm trying to resist the urge to pull for Jinshi since I'm waiting for the Changli banner rerun. I've got 22k asterites and 15 limited banner pulls saved up so far for her and her weapon. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Very very rarely I go after constellations.

In Wuwa it's much more worth going for Character + Weapon, specially because the weapon banner is extremely player friendly, and I like to pair the characters I wanna play with their signatures.

I'm 90% sold on Brant, but need to watch some reviews on him first before actually pulling for him.

It's nice that he's a healer that isn't Spectro/Glacio for once, but it's all gonna depend on gameplay whether I roll for him (or Phoebe for that matter). I guess Phoebe's big thing is Spectro frazzledazzle, making future Spectro DPS (Zani) hit harder.

I kinda want to wait to save up for Zani/Phrolova/the new blonde Beachkeeper (I forget her name), so I'll be skipping at least one of Brant/Phoebe. Probably Phoebe since Spectro Rover can also Razzlefrazzle with the upgrade this patch. I wish Rover's build was stored for each element, so you could quickly load out teams with their different element versions. It's a pain to go in and re-equip echoes and stuff.

Also, version 2.1 finally unlocks Rover's last Resonance for Havoc, and the patch after I think we get Aero Rover. In most games I wouldn't give a shit about the MC since they usually suck ass, but this game actually keeps them viable so far.

Man, I'm so glad that Kuro didn't follow MiHoYo's footsteps here with that "crowning" BS that you have to do in order to max out your talents/skills. So much easier to level them up to 10 in this game.

In terms of skills I haven't leveled up anyone past level 8 so far, and I've been playing since beginning :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_hushed:
Same actually. I fell into my usual "horizontal account building" trap and started spreading materials around to all of the characters I like to 6/6/6, 8/8/8 for the ones I use in harder content. Once I finish getting Roccia to 6/6/6 I'm going go back and max out at least 3 full teams though. This time I'm sure I'll stick to it...

Wait, are you still at world tier 6 where your resonators are capped at level 80? :messenger_grinning_sweat: You need to step up your game my man, so you can tackle the most challenging content in the game more easily.

I started the game almost 2 months ago and I'm at world tier 7 having four of my units at level 90 (weapons too) and their forte skills/talents at least level 8. I'm going to have my Carlotta at 6-10-10-10-6 tomorrow as well once my waveplates regenerate because I don't want to spend my reserve waveplate right now since I'm in no particular rush to do so.

They've improved a bit, but at the beginning leveling up materials, be it for resonators or echoes, where rather scarse.

I ended up stabilizing at world tier 6 and call it a day. Maybe down the road I'll level up to world tier 7.

Game is constantly popping up the quest for me to do it :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah, I've heard about that. I do think the game is in a good spot right now with the amount of mats you can earn through events, exploration, waveplate burn, etc. I don't even feel like buying the BP anymore, but I'll buy it anyway to support the devs.

That's fair, but if you feel confident enough you should do the ascension quest since the increase in rewards alone is worth it IMO.

Don't run so far ahead, there are too many rumors and little information.

As for Brant - I will personally leave my thoughts and so to speak, we will see how right I will be in the end on release. Healing in this game has an extremely mediocre value, as well as shields (well, at the moment, based on what is in the game), it makes moving around the world map more or less comfortable and nothing more, if we take the endgame - Holograms 5 - 6, Hazard hazard zone, then there it practically does not matter, since the same Holograms are made in such a way that they kill you with 1-2 hits and healing is simply useless here. What is really important is the volume of buffs and the strength of the buffs on the Healer and his rotation, even their element does not matter at all since they do not geared for damage and they will not inflict it in principle, they appear on the battlefield for an insignificant time, give out their buffs and immediately leave. Now in the top two characters are Shorekeeper and Verina actually why are they there, oddly enough not because of the healing, as I already said a nice bonus that makes the open world more enjoyable, but because they are very strong damage buffers and most importantly their buffs are universal, so they absolutely do not care what element the characters with them in the group are.

As for Brant, everything will depend on his buffs and how strong they are. His downside is that his damage buff is strictly tied to Fire damage, which sharply reduces his versatility, so it seems to me that he will be lower than Shorekeeper and Verina. How much lower he will be by 1 or 2 lines will depend on the strength of his other buffs.

Another question is that the release of Brant is associated with 2 interesting questions and interesting options for the development of events are possible.
1) If his Fire damage buff is strong enough and there are no problems with rotation, there is a chance that we will have a new meta team Encore + Changli + Brant, if the buff is serious - Encore can even move up 1 line as DPS
2) But this is pure theory, they have in the near future plans to release a new fire DPS and that will be a completely different story....

But as I said, all this is purely my thoughts, and I may be wrong. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Leaks and "what's coming next" are probably 2 of the bigger reasons why I even enjoy gacha games. It's fun to see things and speculate.

I rarely get into the muck with meta stuff because I simply don't care, but I saw a post earlier comparing top DPS teams in the game currently, from a spreadsheeter, and Encore is already 2nd best team comp. I was kinda surprised how strong she continues to be.

I try not to go so deep into the numbers, all this is done on calculators and formulas, and we are people, we are not robots, we make mistakes, skip steps in rotation, incorrectly change characters, etc. Therefore, all these graphs are quite far from reality, and yes, they can be partly attributed to 2-3% of players who know all the rotations by heart and if you wake them up at 4 am and give them a joystick, they will make 4 DM on the first try on Calcharo. But this is unlikely to be applicable to 98% of players. :messenger_grinning:

As for Encore, yes, she disgustingly strong for a character from a regular banner. Most likely, Kuro did it by accident. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

These are the usual calculations through a calculator, or as they are called calculations in vakuum. DPS in this game depends so much on the correct rotations, the use of advanced techniques such as dodge cancel, land cancel and quick swap and others. Plus the general behavior of the boss and reactions to his attacks, dodges and parries, that it is physically impossible to adjust DPS on a living person, the spread will be too large.
Whenever that happens :messenger_tears_of_joy:
