Damn, I've played a little on PS5 Pro and the performance is all over the place. It goes from 60 all the way down to low 30s, lol. I think they're pushing native 4k or something on PS5/PS5 Pro.

They probably have very limited access to people with the knowhow to use PSSR. I am a little surprised they didn't try to get in touch with Sony and get some of the XDEV guys to help them out with it.

Full disclosure, I haven't played the game on PS5, so I am going based just on impressions I've read.

Yes, there is something strange in the game's behavior. And it depends on the location you are in. I played about 2 hours in the end, and it feels like at one moment the game is limited to 30 FPS and at another 60 FPS a very strange behavior of the game itself. I would like to look at the technical analysis, if someone does it eventually. It would also be nice to know the native resolution of the game it runs in. This was not all that striking while I was on the main standard map, but Black Shores behaves extremely strangely for me.

Yeah, I'll give them some leeway since it's their first console port. Hopefully they'll address the perf issues in the next patches.

What I think happens is that they've enabled double buffer or something on PS5 because it drops mid ult with my Camellya from 60 to 30 and then goes back to 60. It's very jarring considering on my lower spec PC it runs very smooth.

Edit: On base PS5 is even worse than on the Pro since it drops frames a lot more and due to double buffering it goes straight to 30 fps and this happens all the time during fights.

I stopped playing on Black Shores and now I'm trying to close the content there, and there you need to kill bosses on the map, which are located in places. On some you come everything is fine, a good fight 60 FPS, on others you go (in my case it was a Fish that hits the ground with its belly) it feels like 30 FPS. Honestly, it's very strange. It doesn't feel like a drop in FPS, it feels like a general drop in performance right away.

I also caught a very funny bug, maybe I was just lucky, maybe it will help someone if they have problems with killing lvl 120 Blazing Cutlass
Which is located right here
b7f6HCr.jpeg

Usually the game creates a wall around the arena that does not allow you to leave it. But I personally passed through it as if it was not there, you can stand on this teleportation pole next to the arena
0ZobAaZ.jpeg

You will have infinite healing, and even if he starts killing someone, the character will immediately be resurrected.
I'm busy right now and unfortunately I can't test it on other bosses yet, but if this isn't a single bug and works on other arenas, then what can I say, it's fun :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I wish the game loop were not a carbon copy of Genshin. They managed to differentiate themselves aesthetically but went the safe route gameplay-wise. It was a missed chance, IMO. It looks fantastic on PS5 and the music, as with every AAA gacha, is wonderful.

They should have a fix MC and be more combat-focused as in PGR.

Kinda funny. Probably an oversight from previous versions of the game where the teleporters didn't refill your health (only the bigger hub teleporters with the circle icon on the map did originally).

Sadly PGR became less combat focused due to their preference for creating characters that do "cool looking moves" instead of actual combat. Now it's mostly a yapfest 20k words per chapter story with cutscene-generator character kits.

Look at the latest character that dropped on Global. 90% of "high level" gameplay with her is watching her climb steps and sit down. I keep leaving feedback that this sucks in both PGR and WuWa, because I really don't want to see WuWa's combat devolve into that boring shit.

But yea, I agree, I'm hoping for 2.0 and beyond they don't do the same exploration gameplay loop as Genshin. There's tons of room for the genre to evolve and expand without doing "solve this 11 IQ puzzle in 4 seconds and move to the next icon". Just another problem with having to cater to the lowest common denominator for financial reasons, sadly.

This saddens me, because these devs are talented and they could succeed doing their own thing, instead of chasing the hoyo dream. When they announced the game some years ago I was hoping for something more minimalistic and desolate, as its soundtrack suggests. I love this so much.

I was watching my wife play now, new city is beautiful (They were obviously inspired by Venice). The only thing I can say for sure, dear Kuro, is that if this character is just an NPC and not a gameplay character...you will upset me very much. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Very sad to see they didn't reset the double top up on currency purchases. Might have to wait till end of may and see if they do it then.

I snagged both Carlotta and her weapon in 100 pulls combined. I still have 6.5k astrites left, so I'm happy with that. :messenger_smirking:

Btw, her gacha pull animation is very cool!

And here's her weapon pull animation

Going to start the Rinascita story later today.

Started playing this today on PS5. Its pretty much Genshin with improvements. Better traversal and climbing mechanics, better combat system, better character design, and the most important improvement, no Paimon to make your ears bleed. Im enjoying it for the same reason i enjoyed Genshin, i like the way both games populate the open world with lots of stuff to find out and puzzles to solve, giving me alot to do and explore outside doing quests and side quests. ALso great art direction in some locations, game looks really pretty.

Runs well on PS5, feels smooth most of the time but is not perfect.

I like just how chill the atmosphere is, visual direction and art design certainly helps to elevate it even further. The first time around I just explored the world and got bored, so I'll go for story this time around and will explore open world as I walkthroug it. The fact that you can place 100 marks on the map will help to get what I missed later.

The huge disappointment for me personally is the fact that there's no way to get BP and monthly sub since the game only uses PayPal. Oh well, I guess I'll be 100% F2P here since I don't have a choice like in ZZZ where I can pay with rubles for everything in a min or so.

Oh there is a Paimon, it just doesn't come out very often. I am not sure what they plan to do with it.

The performance on PS5 is really all over the place as others mentioned. I am hoping they will fix all that is the coming patches.

Edit: Also since you badmouthed Paimon, I hope you lose all 50/50 to Qiqi and all your 5* come out at hard pity.

Redownload it from Epic Games Store and then you can make in-app purchases without paypal as payments go through EGS instead of Kuro Games. The only thing is that prices are slightly more expensive and I think it also depends on the region you're playing from.

I dont play genshin anymore, because i cant stand Paimon extreme high pitch voice, and i dislike most of the character designs. I stop playing the game 1 year after release, then a few months back i tried to go back to it and catch up with all the new content and regions on it, and after 10 minutes of that floating squicky toy screaming in my ears, i just noped out of the game and unistalled it to never go back. I found weird that i managed to endure Paimon fo a year, but for some reason could not stand her voice for more than 10 minutes now. After googling found out the voice actress actually increased her high pitch voice for Paimon and she sounds way more annoying now than what she used to be, that was already anoying.

I have the option to skip to 2.0 content. Should i do it or wait? I am at Chapter 1 act 6. Alliance lvl 16.

If you haven't clear all narrative content until 2.0, I would say to keep playing the game at a normal pace. There's no point in rushing straight to 2.0.

Both Mt. Firmament and Black Shores, for example, are a huge step up story wise compared to early game.

I'm from Russia, which complicates things to say the least. I'm nowhere near at a piont to want to get BP and monthly sub though, so even if I can do that via EGS, there's plenty of time to decide where I want to or not if I'll decide to do it.

It's sad that I lost a few cool characters they released over the last 5-6 months, none of the ones they're offering now is doing it for me, so I guess I have to wait for reruns.

Same feeling. Dosent feel as good geting late to the party to a gacha game that already had alot of great characters available and the only way i have to get them now is waiting for an eventual rerun. Guess i have to enjoy the game with the characters the game will give me and save for reruns.

Oh yeah, I haven't considered that aspect. Well, if you like the game and you want to get the subscription and BP later then EGS is def an option.

I missed on 2 characters (Shorekeeper and Changli) that I really wanted as I've only started last month, so yeah, I'm there with you. Hopefully they'll rerun them sooner rather than later.

Shorekeeper - it's unpleasant, she can't be replaced at the moment, the top support in the game. Changli - from the point of view of the Waifu material, yes it's unpleasant but not fatal, if you need a good fire character for the second position, Mortefi will help you, if you have him on S6, he's really good, in some moments even better than Changli. There are 2 very good 4-star characters for the 2nd position, who are very strong and in fact on S6 they are 5-star characters - Sanhua (She's actually better than most 5 star as 2nd position characters...) and Mortefi.

Thanks for the advice! I've got Mortefi at S6, and I'm slowly building him up for my second team. I also have Sanhua at S6, and she's on my main team with Camellya and Verina. I'd also like Zhezhi for this new team I'm building for Carlotta, but I'm saving up since my priorities are Shorekeeper and Changli for whenever they'll be rerun, plus new characters like Zani. Apparently, Taoqi is a decent substitute for Zhezhi, so maybe I'll build her up and pair her with Carlotta and Shorekeeper whenever I manage to snag her. I'd also like Yinlin (she just had a rerun before this patch dropped) since I don't have any good electro, and she has a cool playstyle too. Anyway, it's going to take a while, but I'll be steadily building up my teams, lol.

People sleep on these two characters to be honest. Especially Sanhua, she is incredibly strong on S6, I would even say too strong. Her only drawback is that she is so fast that even if you learn her optimal rotation you will 100% miss the timing or miss the button from time to time and will drop her combo. :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Of course, I would like everything to be different, but for now this is the situation in the game:

Well, fortunately this is not a miHoYo game, so if you are not interested in the story at all, you can skip all the dialogues and cutscenes (except for the main plot ones). In miHoYo games you would not have such luxury, you would have to listen to everything or very quickly click the button for the next dialogue :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Someone please explain what all these terms mean. I can understand AoE, ULT and Heal. What does cleave, cancel, st, cooord and expert mean and how are they useful? I just use my main DPS character to brute force through most of the stuff and never bother with TOA etc.

Cleave - Character has a mix of smaller range cleaving attacks or attacks that strike in a radius around them but does not consistently hit all enemies in the screen with the majority of their rotation.
Coord - Character can perform Coordinated Attacks consistently, thanks to a major portion of their kit providing damaging, supporting or utility benefits while not on the field. Or the character can make use of Coordinated Attacks to enhance their own kit.
Cancel - Character needs or is widely considered to be far more powerful with the use of “swap cancelling” to enhance their performance.
ST - Character deals mostly single target damage to enemies but can hit multiple enemies if they are stacked directly on top of each other.
Expert - Characters tagged with the Expert Tag can be considered one placement higher than their tier list ranking, but you need to master their advanced/harder playstyle for them to qualify for that higher rating.

Thanks for the explanation. Looks like I might have to attend a youtube training video to learn all this.

Holy fucking shit, I'm not impressed at all with the game on PS5.

No HDR settings at all? Game looks lifeless compared to PC in terms of color, and my PC screen isn't even HDR.

Also FPS seems rather clunky and all over the place.

On the positive side, tried Carlota and she is nice, very Devil May Cry gun playstyle if you ask me.

But I won't pull the trigger for her.

Definetely gonna keep playing the game on PC.

Thank you for pointing it out. I was trying to recall where I have seen such gun moves and now I remember Gunslinger style from DMC.

I'm loving this improved photo mode we've gotten in version 2.0. Managed in filming some nice cinematic shots of Carlotta in Rinascita.

And of course, I've had to try once more to capture that nice piano rendition of Shorekeeper's theme. Did two versions, one with me slowly panning the camera and a second video with a static camera.

You recorded this on PC I assume?

One of the things that I also noticed on base PS5 is the resolution being lower. Dont know what's going on here. It's way more blurier than I was expecting.

Anyone knows what resolution they are using there? When I look at Genshin doing 4K60fps and wuwa being like this...

Looks pretty good on the pro. I actually tested it side by side with PC and image quality appeared better on console for whatever reason. Performance so far has been ok-ish, but it has quite a bit of stutter like i've noticed with other Chinese gacha that are ports from mobile, not sure what's up with that,

I don't know how much you can trust the information that the TV gives out, but my TV, for example, shows this data if you turn on its display while playing WuWa on PS5.

I would assume that's just the general information about the HDMI port where you have your PS5 connected, because I'm almost sure that, at least on base PS5, game isn't outputting at 4K.

Also, one thing that I remembered: if you guys find your game extremely saturated try lowering your numbers on the brightness slider. Need to try this out later, because this also happened on the PC version.

All those recordings were made on my PS5 Pro. I'm not sure about the base PS5, but on the PS5 Pro, it looks like the game is being rendered at 1440p or above (it looks way crisper than on my old PC, which is hooked up to a 1080p IPS monitor), with the UI being 4K.

Just keep in mind a few things here: Genshin is running on a heavily modified version of Unity, while WuWa is on Unreal Engine 4, which is a tad heavier for open worlds (see how well Genshin runs on mobile vs WuWa, which can struggle even on 2-3 year old high end phones). Also, the first versions of Genshin on PS5 ran terribly, with lots of drops into the low to mid 40s. They fixed it a few patches after launch, and now it runs at a mostly stable 60 fps at 4K.

The things that Kuro Games needs to focus on right now are fixing the performance issues and the low resolution textures in some parts of the game, like environments and character models (they look terrible in some of the story cutscenes and leave a bad impression on new players).

Oh yeah, at the start, when Genshin came out on PS5, the first version was terrible, and they didn't fix it right away. FPS jumped in all directions like crazy without stopping in some locations. And also in Abyss on some floors when there were a lot of enemies and a lot of effects it was just ass. And this went on for several months.

I just ran around for a couple of hours in a new location, it was relatively normal without any particular problems, it feels like this location was polished better. Let's hope they'll tighten up the rest of the game with patches within a month.
Visually, especially if you turn on HDR on TV, the new location looks really juicy :messenger_grinning:

I always wonder how much of this actually even matters in the bottom line with these games.
In this game it matters, everything you play in the story is basically done so that you can quickly and normally pass without any special headaches. Here is the endgame content and bosses of level 120, and Holograms are another story, you will have to learn them, since they usually kill with 2-3 hits, if you are unlucky with a 1 crit, and some have one shot attacks (It's like in souls games, you need to know the boss patterns and be able to dodge or parry them correctly). But this is entertainment for the chosen ones, not all players play this, this is not mandatory content.

Game director made a CN social media post about 2.0 performance. Sounds positive and like they'll be continuing to improve and expand the game.

Translation:

Message for the launch of Wuwa 2.0

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, 2.0 Rinascita that the team was preparing for a long time finally reached the players. Here, I would like to share with you yesterday's performance.

First and foremost, the new version exceeds the expectations of the players, we got a lot of positive feedback from the community and surveys. The players can feel that 2.0 made a lot of progress compared to previous versions both in content quantity and quality.

As for performance, I'm happy to tell you that Wuwa has reached a new single day revenue high since launch, hitting a new milestone. Of course, beside the word of mouth and turnovers, we see that it's just as important that players can see and feel a confidence in the long-term operation of the game and the team can continue providing them with high quality content that exceeds expectations in the future, which is a great encouragement to the team.

We have always said that the results we can output at each stage of development should always fairly match what our current capabilities are. As the saying goes, you get what you sow. As long as we remain pragmatic and seek progress, continue to persevere, we will surely be able to create even more surprises to the players.

Finally, I am very happy that we can make a "growing game" with you all!
