It won't surprise me at all if in the end it turns out that this AI is actually their teacher who saved their consciousness and turned it into AI for it to be installed in some kind of intelligent construct, but given how fast the events played out, there wasn't enough time for the later, the whole process wasn't fully complete, AI got damaged as well during transportation and can't recall what really happened in the Helios Academy and tell MCs the whole truth. But how MCs survived the explosion is another mystery entirely and maybe it has something to do with Ether and this Idk how to explain cuz we're missing a lot of context to create at least some resemblance of full picture here.

We already know the 4 AIs belonged to a currently unknown group of at least two people and they don't seem to have any connection to the helios academy, one of the other AIs, ghost or youkai are probably also the reason for fairy being disabled in chapter 5.

I actually disagree here. They do a fairly good job of fleshing out each character as they get a banner and their own little events every patch. I feel like I know way more about any character released after Ellen than I do about the siblings themselves. I mean it's not 2-3 chapters worth of character building immediately, but so far nobody has really been forgotten in the big events or what little we have of the main story, long after their patch debuted (save maybe Soldier 11, but she's neglected in a lot of ways). For a gacha game that has to build hype for the latest characters, I think ZZZ does a good job keeping them relevant in content, whether events, or the new hangout mode etc.
I dunno about gameplay, I saw that one beta leak but I didn't see enough to make any judgement one way or the other. I thought her mini story was cute, I didn't mean her being stupid was a bad thing, just kinda musing a bit. I'll probably go for a single copy when she releases. I like that they built her up subtly over the past few patches by having us interact with her while she's controlling a bangboo. That was clever. Wish the character was cooler or more interesting than another "starlet trying to escape her fame" trope, but we'll see what they're going to do with her in a few weeks.
I don't have a problem with Fairy as a plot device/character, but she did too much for too long. Any TV mode content had her yapping the whole way through it. Any plot moments were instantly solved by her near omnipotent knowledge. Having her knocked out for the main quest was very refreshing, seeing Phaethon actually doing something that earned their reputation.
I have suspicions that they can transform into etherials with some level of power/control. Probably similar to what Bringer could accomplish in his other form, or the body that they found in the Belobog questline. I also think that their teacher became Nineveh, but I don't have any solid evidence for that, just a feeling. I think that they are so susceptible to ether corruption because they absorb it and transform and they desperately don't want that to happen for one reason or another. I'm guessing that the Helios academy was made with orphans to mutate them into what are now known as Etherials to further mankind or evolve the species or something, when shit went wrong. HDD was probably made by the academy once they found the first hollow to safely investigate it. I also don't think Belle and Wise are blood related.

Idk, I found most of the character stories (video archive) not great and passable at best. I only truly liked a handful of them. That's not to say they're not showing who characters are, what they think etc. it's just that there's no real comradery here like you can see in Persona games for example or already mentioned ME. And the latest story actually showed that all they did is just move some stuff around which was on your way and that's it. To say that it was a huge disappointment is to say nothing, not to mention that the whole thing was rushed and there's no satisfying payoff really for the past 6 months of content. You'll know more of the characters by completing trust events and during random meet ups in the world, but... well, I guess I just wanted far more developed experience, with far more interactions, conversations, decisions that matter etc. I mean, I know it's a big ask from a gacha game, but I just can't help it and want for ZZZ to be better.

100% agree and that's exactly why I didn't like her. And yeah, I liked the part with Miyabi and MC as well and it showed that maybe MCs don't even need this AI to begin with cuz they're perfectly capable to navigate the Hollows alone just like they were doing before Fairy was a thing even, not to mention that they earned legendary proxy status without her.

Yea character stories mostly have nothing to do with the MCs, so from that angle they are a bit weak, but at least they show character traits and how the characters interact with their squads. Hopefully the Chapter 5 story outcome will allow them to intermingle since now they know of each other and have common ground (the proxies). Like I'd like to see Zhu Yuan and Miyabi have a discussion, they both seems like dorks, and they have a past of knowing each other. Unfortunately though, this is a gacha so I think we can only expect so much. I too wish it wasn't like that, but HoYo found their recipe and they're gonna milk it until it doesn't make enough money anymore. Totally agree about the main story being rushed. Worst part is, they absolutely didn't have to rush anything. Nobody was expecting a finale to the Vision Co. arc in version 1.4. Stretch it out, give us some more situations we had to get out of with the help of our friends. WE go from fucking around with bangboo minigames for 4 months to all of the sudden a back to back to back showdown with a puppet for a shadow organization. That kind of thing really needs to improve.
I doubt they'll get rid of her entirely because of the "4 supreme AI" subplot, but I hope her power outage leaves her somewhat subdued for at least a few chapters until they properly build up that plot point and make it interesting. I still haven't decided if she's going to turn on us, or not. Curious to see what they do there. She probably has all of the data on Phaethon and the H.D.D. at this point, so I assume she goes rogue/back to her creator at some point and then she either becomes an antagonist or comes back to us with the power of friendship.

Now that's what I call a great character quest and stuff behind the scenes I want to see more of as well as character interactions etc. Like, you'd think that with all Nicole is doing while dealing with her clients and the way they handle things her way, I'm sure there's dozens upon dozens of life and death situations like this but we never hear about it or see it on the same scale. Same goes for other faction - Jane story for example is exactly what I want to see more of as well, cuz it shows way more of what NEPD is dealing with each day when it comes to very serious stuff, you can participate in it (even if MCs are mostly on the background), see more of the characters, their interactions, conversations etc. Anyway, really good quest from start to finish. We also know that swordmaster was the third head, so the first and second head probably died pretty quickly.
Do you recall how long ago the Hollow Disaster was, in lore terms? It sounds like 11 years ago based on some dialogue and the siblings involvement, but then other lore bits talk about ancient cities (most likely current day earth). So did the world get fucked up first like a hundred years ago, and then 11 years ago the Hollow incident happened, or was the Hollow stuff a hundred years ago and then Eridu/New Eridu were recently effected 11 years ago?
The "hollow disaster" refers to the fall of the old capitol, or Eridu, which is when hollow zero emerged, expanded and swallowed it and they detonated the shiyu pillars to form the chasm, to prevent it from expanding further into new eridu; this was supposedly a decade ago.
Have no idea how it will work, but just being able to auto-battle the combat simulations would be a good start.

It's hard to care about past characters (especially if you have them already) and their stuff 6 months after release and waste polys and tapes on them. Like, I don't have 90% of sig W-Engines of the past characters and I don't care, their time has passed and there's no point anymore. New players? Sure. Me? Fuck no. Looking forward to Ellen's story though, hopefully it'll be interesting. Fishing and Fall Guys events look cool, hopefully it won't be time gated (I hate when they time gate stuff). Arcade games, endless tower, deadly assault and character costumes can fuck right off. New Lost Void 4 character challenge is crap in terms of rewards, plus I will never lvl up Billy beyond lvl 25 so I don't have to waste my time in this mode cuz of this reason alone.

Well, it's been almost 30+ days, I had plenty of stuff before 1.4 launched and I haven't used much of it on Miyabi even (probably 30% at best). I also used AI (in-game one, hehe) to complete / get some stuff I missed, finished a bunch of "QT" events, hard versions of story mission of the past 2 updates (there's no hard versions for 1.4 yet last time I checked), completed all lvls of Lost Void BP, all the events. The agents I care about the most are already lvl 60, there's no one to lvl up anymore and since Evelyn a month away, could not care less about lvling Lighter since I don't have use for him yet and I've no one else to lvl up + Harumasa will always be lvl 1. Sweat Pea (god bless her soul) passively farming fire mats for Evelyn and Ligher so I got that covered too and already have a huge pile of them (+ BP replacements for at least 2 agents). I also have 5,5+ million dennies already too and I guess the only thing I could farm now are disc mats to lvl up discs and discs themselves... and maybe lvl up skills of agents I use a lot to max lvls too (but it'll take ages so there's no point in rush it anyway) aaaaaand.... that's it.
Well, personally speakin', it's really hard (if not impossible) to be excited about a character you can't even play - Astra is a support character, off-field 90% of the time and then you have her underwhelming and snooze inducing gameplay...

Like, if you need HP recovery you can just pick a Bangboo and have one of the 4 support characters which are already in the game and completely free, same goes for DMG buffs and other stuff.

Do you have the OG PS5 with 825GB of storage space? IMO, you should consider adding an NVMe SSD if it's becoming difficult to manage your free space on the console. I've 3TB of total storage on mine, and it's so much better as I don't have to deal with uninstalling and reinstalling games.
