Inventory hurts in the beginning, but it's expandable. Find drop ships on planets, and/or buy new ships for more space.

Overall the game is set to discourage hoarding and you're suppose to just gather stuff you need for your current situation instead of stock piling everything.

Also there's a trick to speed up walk speed. Run, do melee then animation cancel the melee with jetpack. You'll get some nice momentum.

Yeah, as far as the bolded bit goes I understand the reasoning. It's basically how I've been playing anyway and never really had a problem. I think bases, when they come, will ease this issue as I imagine you can stockpile stuff but not just carry it around with you off world. Itd make for easier mining/graviton collecting at least. Vehicles too, if they ever do that.

Just starting out. Can you switch between blot water and mining beam? I just found an upgrade but it runs out fast and needs to reload. I expected it to fall back to mining beam

Annoyed by the inventory management. I transferred titanium to my ship to make room to pick up more stuff. Then I needed titanium to craft an upgrade but it wouldn't let me transfer it back to my exposition because the ship was too far away. So it doesn't have a range limit to the ship, but it does to transfer back

Triangle on PS4 to switch weapons, on foot or in your ship.

Installed that new nvidia driver from the Windows update running 2k atm at maxed out at 120-140fps.

Stuttering a lot while flying but it seems a lot better. GOG version.

I also got my hyper driver blueprint. Is it safe to redeem the pre order bonus now?

Didn't realize spaceships would land at the alien sites on planets. I walk out of one after using the trade machine and one was landing. Kind of cool.

Getting a bit over the space pirates though. Fuck off.

All bonuses in a line stack, if you want to use the inventory space to do so.

Found a planet with a ton of those graviton balls, but the sentinels are set to 'Frenzied' haha. Still managed to get a dozen or so.

Keep the upgrade, the effects stack and are further boosted by the fact that you've placed them next to each other.

They stack. The borders being colored means you put them together and they get a bonus.

Great, thx!

After several planets and systems with pretty similar wildlife, I ran into 3 very distinct species tonight. Each one made me realize there is still so much to see.

A hopping
pineapple
A
praying mantis
A 2x my size
t-rex
this one was the last species of a planet. Spent over an hour looking for it. Found it at the top of a mountain. I was grumbling until I saw it.

None of them were hostile either. So I could get close and check them out

I complained earlier about low sensitivity with the game, took 3 seconds to turn 180.. Now I got a new controller and it seems the older (near launch) controllers had tighter sticks. I can now turn at full speed and a kontrolfreek fits in fine and doesnt bump into the stick housing. Weird how bad the launch dual shock 4s were.

So I kind of took a shortcut and now I might be about 200,000 light years away from where my atlas objective is. Am I fucked or does the game reset your objective it gets too far away or something?

I just been wondering about that.

I been following the atlas path, but decided to go back on my self and try that black hole that was offered to me, I've only jump one system on my way back so far. i just presumed that new atlas anomalies would appear for me once i'm there. Not sure what to do :)

Lol count me in too. I did this and when I saw where I ended up I just called it a night.

If you come across a space anomaly you can ask them to set you back on the path of atlas. Dont know if it sets the objective closer to you but i know i saw that as an option.

Was waiting for the PC release but when my SO's PS4 copy came two days earlier I had to try the game. Didn't experience any technical troubles in those five hours. Had fun but got pretty mean planets.
Started it on PC as soon as it unlocked and played for maybe six-ish hours or so. Works pefectly at max graphic settings with 100 FoV on my system. I have some stuttering for a couple of minutes whenever I start it and it crashed once when I tried to load a game (probably the best time to get a crash ;D) which doesn't bother me at all. Seems I've been lucky for once.

Got a starting planet with knowledge stones, ruins and other lore stuff everywhere. Learned 60 words without even really trying and decided to make it my goal to max out my Korvax knowledge (to the point of skipping two Gek systems when I warped just to get to more Korvax stuff first). Love the small scenarios at some of those lore places!

My first planet was a pretty place with gold everywhere. The second planet had barren and uneven terrain to the point of screwing up the placement of beacons, houses and stuff. Found lots of floating things and also half buried stations and other messyness. Got out of there pretty quickly.
Not sure where I've ended up now since I stopped playing when I reached the new Korvax system but I'm eager to continue.

The samey stuff doesn't bother me (yet anyway) and I get to see double the samey stuff since my SO is also playing. We get a bunch of samey looking creatures and other scannable things, but also some really different ones.
As for the gameplay and it's sameyness, I just find it really relaxing so far.
The game is pretty much what I expected it to be so far.

How can I find my original spawn again? I'm on the planet. I didn't accept the red orb's mission, but I would like to.

Also, the inventory design makes me want to give up on this game.

Sorry for asking a question that has been probably asked 100 times, but does this make sense or can I dissemble the +1 upgrade?

You get the effect of both, so it pays to have both. Plus yo get a slight bonus having them both together. It really annoys me that the stock jetpack is in the corner and we can't move it!

Hopped into the game, instantly felt overwhelmed lol. How do you do the space jump thingy I saw posted somewhere in this thread earlier this week for faster traversal?

I found Aussie planet. Everything wanted to kill me. Radioactive atmosphere, very aggressive sentinels, hostile animals. Renamed it to 'Absolute heaven', uploaded it and went to another star system :D towards
Atlas anomaly

Playing on PC and I think ship controls are completely ass, there's delay in mouse controls and the partially automated flight only makes it worse.

Trying to fly a ship with a mouse sounds terrible, period. Get a controller, dude. That's obviously how it was intended to be played, and it works great. Although I do wish you could fly closer to the ground without the game preventing you from getting too close. I found a planet full of awesome canyons, and SO wanted to fly through them, but couldn't. :-(

Since the game has procedural generation, can it be modded by the PC community? I'm really looking forward to it because this game seems to have almost limitless potential if so.

Took about 45 minutes of walking, but I found my way to a terminal and was finally able to recall my frigging ship. I would be really curious to know how in the hell this happened.

This happened to me too! I have no idea if it was a bug or intended but it was kind of fun being a little stranded. Luckily I was very close to somewhere with a terminal though.

You talking about on-foot? Then the fastest way to move is to sprint (R3), then melee attack (R1, which makes you quickly dash forward), and then immediately jetpack (X). You'll go zipping over the surface. I REALLY hope they don't consider that an exploit and patch it out, it's awesome to be able to cover that much ground that quickly.

I don't know why but I feel compelled to erase my save and start again, now that I got some hanging on the game I feel like I missed so many great occasions, on the other side being the game procedurally generated means I haven't lost anything....

Don't know what to do...sigh...

I'm in that predicament too.

Oh, yeah, sure. This tech has been used in every game ever. Nothing unique about this at all...

Here we go with the knee jerk defense. I didn't say a thing about its uniqueness.
Perhaps read the comment I wrote and the comment I was responding to ?

Well it works in Battlefield, Star Citizen and a lot of other games.
The main reason piloting feels terrible in No Man's Sky is because of the laggy aim when in ship.

Spent a couple of hours on this planet. This is what I had to show for it. Thanks Treasure Hell Planet!

Every time I see screenshot with several planets in one system, they have exactly the same continents shape. Or is it clouds formation?

Did not play the game, just wondering.

Ok I honestly don't know if I accepted the orb at the start is there anyway to check?, this game is a grower I was a bit disappointed in it at first but it's all I've played since Wednesday and feels like it's getting its claws into me big time.

Has anyone else encountered the destination counter glitch? (Distance counter flits between 2 sets of numbers instead of counting down the closer I get to target location, sometimes even counting up instead of down!) Usually occurs with destinations found as a reward for solving puzzles. Has anyone found a workaround for it?

I'm now at over 30h in (normally I play games like 5-10 hours) and still love it. Every single bit. And I'm always discovering new "experiences" with aliens which make me say 'woah!' :D

I love this game so much ^^

Things about my starting planet:

There is so much radiation that I can only be exposed for 5 minutes tops.
Almost no minerals whatsoever
Pink terrain with green veins scattered all over it
Overrun by spider crabs that want to murder me
Ruled by King Crabius Fuckyous. Most crabs hit me once and run, this guy chases me to the ends of time or till I am dead. Only way he is satisfied. That is him below.

I just finished repairing my ship after 2 hours. The second I can warp I am leaving this god forsaken system.

NMS flying is probably the worst out of the other space flying games.

In elite I use KBM and voice attack. Tried controller was too slow. SC works fine.

Well that planet was awesome..

Spent about 3 hours there and picked up 2mil worth of platinum (they were in those storage tanks) and 7 Drop Pods.

I found it a lot easier with a mouse. The inventory stuff with a controller is terrible so I'll never feel that was the "intended" way. Feels so much more logical with a mouse.

I restarted once on PS4, because I always do that as soon as I get the hang of a huge game. Sure, it's procedural and whatevs but it feels "cleaner" to restart. In Starbound I restarted four times before I was happy with my "gameplay".

Every time I get into my ship and blast off into space I'm always blown away by the fact this can actually happen with no loading. Shit is sci-fi to the max and that I'm alive to see video games offer this and technology be at this level is just...

The only thing that i don't like it's that systems are like "space arenas", meaning that you have all these planets around you and when you want to go to another system you just take a loading screen to the next arena system.

I mean, I know they couldn't do anything else considering how huge space is but it makes it not feel seamless (like planets).

Planets though are awesome, and landing/taking off to space never gets old.
