Xbox One GPU Specs reveal date?

I am sure I am not the only one but when will MS reveal the official specs of the Xbox one's GPU? Have they been talking about the cloud to delay the inevitable or that the GPU is indeed that much weaker compared to the PS4 GPU that they won't mention it at all?

The reason I ask is with a $100 higher price than the PS4 and as far as multi-platform games goes, GPU specs is indeed important to reveal.

Rumoured specs seem to be pretty spot on. Wouldn't expect anything to be said any time soon. Why flaunt the fact that your hardware is some 50% weaker?

Its pretty clear they are hiding them, theyve done that with most of this system to date. They have not been clear on anything, your never vague when you have good news to share.

I doubt they're reveal them officially. We'll need to wait for a teardown to find out more details about the hardware. It's possible that vgleaks' info on its innards was correct, though. A while back we had a thread about a Microsoft rep who said the Xbox One was not targeting high specs.

Anyway, if Microsoft's specs were worth boasting about we'd see it plastered on every piece of promotional material for the machine.

I think MS will just pull a Nintendo. Moreover any time they are confronted, they'll just harp on about their cloud making console more powerful over time.

Pretty obvious they're withholding a public detailed release for PR benefit since they'd come out well below the PS4, a la Nintendo did with the Wii U. Hell when they announced the console, they were so vague about the specs. They didn't mention the ram type either (DDR3) and bizarrely focused on transistor count, which as many know is pointless and not suggestive of anything.

Xbox ONE GPU Specs: 5 billion transitor clouds, using evaporated water from the tears of Xbox fanboys, which are also used as CBoaT's bidet...

No reason to even announce it. All they have to say is it is comparable and leave it at that. You don't advertise your weaknesses. The same way they never came out and said 8 gb of ddr3.... they just said "8 GB of Ram!"

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
They might just "pull a Nintendo" and reveal nothing at all.

However, the leaks have proven very accurate so far.

If Microsoft hasn't revealed detailed specs by now, they probably aren't going to. That said, we actually know how many CU's/Stream Processing Units, the X1 has.

I'm working on memory here, but at a QnA session after the Xbone reveal a few weeks before the E3, a Microsoft developer let slip the number of, computations per clock, or something like that. They were able to take that number, and back-calculate how many CU's Microsofts GPU must be using get that number.

It came out to the same number of CU's as in the rumored specs that've been floating around for months. So that was essentially confirmation that the X1 has around 700 Stream Processors.

I really wish I had links to this information. i, HATE working off biological memory.

Never, they got bitch slapped by SONY.

Clearly they are playing a catch up. This time the things are different, they are both using PC Like parts.

If it was PS3/360 time I would like to know what they would be doing ..?

Yep, they'll just take a leaf out of Nintendo's playbook - bury the specs.

At least there's general information about the system; not like Nintendo where you have to BUY a photograph of the chip and scrutinize it in order to find out what it is.... (if I'm not mistaken)

They will never officially announce them. But the specs in the wild are correct, so it really does not matter.

The Wii U's specs actually came from a developer leak and a hacker who found the clockspeeds somehow. I don't think much was even learned from the photographs since it's mostly unknown stuff.

I've got your back, man. That was DigitalFoundry's detective work that gave us the CU count and TFLOP figure.

Digital Foundry said:
In terms of the GPU hardware, hard information was difficult to come by, but one of the engineers did let slip with a significant stat - 768 operations per clock. We know that both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are based on Radeon GCN architecture and we also know that each compute unit is capable of 64 operations per clock. So, again through a process of extrapolation from the drip-feed of hard facts, the make-up of the One's GPU is confirmed - 12 compute units each capable of 64 ops/clock gives us the 768 total revealed by Microsoft and thus, by extension, the 1.2 teraflop graphics core. So that's another tick on the Durango leaked spec that has been transposed across to the final Xbox One architecture and the proof we need that PlayStation 4's 18 CU graphics core has 50 per cent more raw power than the GPU in the new Microsoft console.

This is why I said that come November, we'll have to rely on teardowns to get the rest of the specs.

Yep the DF article concluding that the Xbox One GPU specs are the same as the leaks is as near as confirmation as you are going to get.

Now it should be a matter of time before this 50% more powerful PS4 GPU tells. You can't see it from the E3 demos at least.

I don't think they will reveal the hard numbers because their hardware is weaker than Sony's.

Sony has done the same no?

Sony released the TFlops count of their GPU right away at the PS4 reveal in february. They also mentioned the RAM type and its bandwith, unlike MS.
Only the clockspeed of the CPU is left unknown.

My memory is vague on this - were the 360 and PS3 performance specs officially revealed prior to release date?

are we happy enough with gossip or will we want chips delidding? I'm curious just how much space the esram uses

They will keep silent forever. They have enough negative press as it is, they certainly don't need a new batch of negative articles.

I can already see the headlines, if they ever decide to reveal the specs: "The only secret sauce Xbone has is weaksauce, and it's glazed all over GPU".

360's were. In fact GAF first read the officially confirmed 360 specs in scans from a Danish gaming magazine, prior to the MTV reveal.

I can't wait for the multiplats to come out.

I wouldn't expect much of a difference in launch title multiplats. But give it a year or so and things are going to start widening. Bare in mind with most demo's devs have been using PS4 dev kits with half or less than half the ram the final kit has. The XO dev kits by contrast have had near final specs for a long while.

Like I said, I can't wait. The damage control is going to be off the charts.

Well there you go, guys and gals. And I guess that debunks the downclock rumor that was never corroborated by a trusted source.

The rumor was that if Microsoft wanted to improve their yields, they would have to downclock. It seems that they're just living with lower yields as they're launching in only a handful of countries.
