Avowed | Review Thread

World’s Biggest Weeb
The IGN and Gamespot reviewer even got exposed on Twitter planning out their tanking Days Gone. Complained about all white freakers and the “ride me like you ride your bike” line.

If anything it’s a seal of approval for Days Gone to get even in the 70s. Avowed should be 11/10 to these people.
I still find it hilarious how triggered they are about a heterosexual white woman lusting for her traditionally masculine husband.

Normies acting normal is like the most outdated “problematic” thing to these people.

I just checked in on the avowed subreddit.

I just read how BG3 isn't a 9/10 or a 10/10 either because

**checks notes**

The world is static and the NPCs don't wander.

Also no one trusts IGN or Gamespot and the game would have scored at least 10 points higher if it had launched on Playstation or Nintendo.

I barely play these games, but I remember how many jank 7.5 to 8.0 games like Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, and the original KCD were all well received by players despite their obvious flaws.
VTMB was ambitious, deep, well-written, intriguing, among other things. People were willing to overlook jank and bugs because of that. Fallout New Vegas is in the same boat. Avowed doesn't come close to either game. It's dumbed down "RPG" slop.

I mean, it prob works since they keep doing it. Also it is a good option for people who were interested in buying it. I know I will buy if there is a game I am interested in coming out early...

and the idiots released it in the vicinity of a bombastic rpg, AGAIN
yeah this'll bomb hard.

hopefully obsidian survives, but they are also running out of sympathy from me. first outer worlds and now this. they lost the touch bad, since avellone left.

Yep, this game is more 'woke' than most other sony games and Deacon was very open for a biker.

Just from the top of my head, here are some examples:
- Indian love interest/female biker
- Interracial lesbian couple
- Strong female 'scientist' wife woke type
- A fucking White Christian Zealot as the main final boss
But that gruff white "CIS" male checking out his wife's ass. We can't have that!

Now back to listening to my current year hip-hop of female artist self-degradation and males degrading them hoes.

Slaaayyyyyy™

Retards.

Perhaps. It might as well come out on the 20th for many working folks though.

Xbox fanboys have the absolute worst persecution complex, it’s crazy really

they’re also at least partially responsible for Xbox ending up in the position it’s in because they NEVER held Phil’s feet to the fire over anything as he tanked their favorite brand, their cult gets what it deserves

edit: more on topic, I kinda called this in the prediction thread, Obsidian hasn’t been the same since they forced Avellone out and it’s sad really

I’ll likely pick this up eventually on sale or maybe when I bother to resub to GamePass at some point, but I’m glad I didn’t pre-order it

sorry it turned out this way Buggy Loop Buggy Loop , personally I would have been happier to have been wrong & for Avowed to have been a “return to form” for Obsidian 😔

It's almost as if WHAT TYPE of flaws a game may have could make a difference in the way some people evaluate them.
There are "7/10" games that I would easily list among my all time favorites and 8/10 games that I wouldn't spend time on if I was paid for it.
The same flaws as the one who got away just for scoring "narrative" points against another studio (not talking about bioware and their glaring writing issues)

What kind of "true" reviewer is not allowed to talk everything about the game??
I can't speak for everyones nda or something. But even though I didn't LOVE Avowed. We could 100% without hesitation talk about anything. Streamers sometimes get a caveat about "this will be fixed" But I never have I wouldn't even do the review and have passed up even the times it is somewhat suggested which is a bit rare.

You didn't see any of the posts from Sony bootlickers saying this was a shit game? How strange. Wonder why. You're a shit stirrer and a bootlicker that doesn't want people to enjoy this game. End of. Meme-posting dim wit.
Keep it up dude. Can’t wait to see your name on the Bans page where it belongs after your constant console warring nonsense in here.

Sounds a bit like an Outer Worlds level RPG. I got bored of that one, but some reviews here are mentioning a well told story so I'm sort of intrigued. I also really liked how the skill trees looked - a bit old school, but we'll see. Either way I'll try it on Game Pass.

Obsidian will be fine. These type of RPGs are not expensive to develop and usually get good return. The Outer Worlds sold 5+mil copies

'Well worth your time'

🙏

That’s a great review compared to the IGN one I saw first, much more in-depth.
Talks about UI settings, not specifically about what I want but there is some hope. I want to move the enemy health bars to top center like in Skyrim, having all that UI crap in the middle of the screen is going to be annoying fast.

There was me wondering how we ended up here but then I saw your initial post in this thread.

You did this to yourself.

But it counter all of that with not-so-woke stuff.

No woke game is gonna have a dude looking at a chick ass in contempt nor a lesbian doubting his own sexual orientation to go with a guy like deacon nor a manly, testosterone filled duo of protagonists like deacon and boozer, just look how much of a pussy peter and miles are in comparison.

It was a game where you knew garvey was writing exactly what he wanted and none of what you listed was there to push an agenda.

And the 2 lesbo girls were good characters, not insuferrable girl bosses, they had doubts, they were not perfect and they were scared to mess up, not your typical today female character.

Even just how much they cared and how they spoke about a nazi looking guy like boozer.

I started off with the IGN review which was so shallow and didn't really dig into anything the game had to offer. It just felt half-baked, but maybe that's all IGN video watchers can manage before they lose interest.

I then watched this one which offered far more and actually got me excited for the game. The systems, mechanics and combat were described, none of which were covered by IGN. The common complaint was that there was a bear plague in the world :messenger_grinning_smiling: Sounds like there needs to be a cull in a day-1 patch, but aside from that it all sounds pretty good.

I wasn't expecting top-tier, but 80 is what I was hoping for so it has met my expectations. Looking forward to playing this on GP once it's released.

Says the bootlicker who has shit-posted several times in this thread. And you want me banned for pushing against that and your false narrative? You need some help from someone.

Anyway the Game's had good reviews. It's not gaas slop for one thing.

From the shadows they arrive. Always exactly when required, but never at any other point time.

The animosity, overt or underhanded, in this thread is a bit over the top...

Anyway. Why would I want to play this game now when I'm already recently engaged with an amazing several hundred-hour RPG... 🤷‍♂️ Sorry Obsidian.

The more footage I see of this, the less I'm hyped about it. I actually can't understand what they were thinking with this colour palette. The fact that the enemy designs are quite limited and entire stretches of map are dead have put me off quite a bit.
