Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

Should have keep the Justice league nonsense out of the storyline and focus the movie on batman like how the story is supposed to be told.

Don't try to do an Avengers movoe in 1 go.

Man all those posters who were defending this movie to the hilt have been conspicuously absent from this thread. The denial is real. Snyder has to be dropped after this. WB have pumped so much cash into this that it would be insane to continue as is.

Maybe they're waiting to see the movie first and form their own opinion.

Yeah I had my suspicions that this movie wasn't going to work out. Too much stuff going on without any real overarching story to it. But I still had hope Snyder could surprise us.

I'll never know how he managed to make Watchmen so good. I've hated everything else he's been a part of. Especially Suckerpunch, I hated that movie with a fucking passion.

I don't really buy this is worse than the star wars prequels or Batman Forever.
Episode 1 had many issues but honestly it is an ok Sci-fi movie. Just a terrible Star Wars movie. I doubt it will be worse than Episode 2, but I am going to see it tom.

Also I am probably the only person who enjoyed Batman Forever, ha ha.

the "justice league nonsense" would have saved maybe 15 minutes of run time the most? Though those 15 minutes would have been much better used to tighten up the first act but it's not like the entire movie revolves around setting up a bigger picture.

I expected this and said looks dumb. Wonder woman casting and batman casting was first wrong start.

What? I wasn't too happy about these castings either and I'm still not sure about (Gal Gadot as WW and J. Eisenberg), but Affleck grew on me while watching the trailers.

BTW since you saw the movie, how would you rank MoS and BvS?

So where does this tank on the worst superhero movies of all time according to RT? It's lower than Batman and Robin right now.

Batman Forever came out 20 years ago. Whatever score it has on RT can be in no way comparable to today. There are far fewer reviews counted for basically any movie pre-2000.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, it's more in-line with Rise of the Zohan/Matrix 3/Space Jam/The Room than it is Batman and Robin tbh.

Thats fair but they have been in every other thread about the film jumping on anyone who suggested it wouldn't be very good. It makes their absence noticeable here. They had already convinced themselves they would like the film.

Yeah, comparisons are just for the sake of laughing. We all know that Batman Forever is awesome.

Well Fantastic Four is 9% so it is mid-range right below Batman Forever and Daredevil.
However, it is a bit unfair to compare because movies are judged harsher now since we expect better.

Edit: They should put "better than Green Lantern" on the DVD box.

It'll be interesting to see the audience response vs critic response.

Most impressions I had read before the critics atleast said it was better than MoS, but top critics find the cgi and buildup toward justice league a big negative, enough to outweight the dialogue and pacing issues in MoS.

Agreed.

The second X third week will be interesting to see, if word of mouth is as powerful as people say

I'm still hyped to see it but lowering my expeditions day by day

I'm sure it'll be an okay movie with a lot of spectacular action scenes. It probably should have focused on Batman and Superman alone. In their efforts to fast forward the DCCU, the film has suffered. I think Snyder is perfect for this sort of movie, but he needs a good script to work with. Watchmen proves that he can direct.

According to most people I've spoken to, the consensus is that:

1st half of Film = serious superhero political thriller - philosophical

2nd half Film = balls out sci-fi crazy. Full transformers carnage and cgi.

Feels like two different films spliced together. One trying to be philosophical and serious while the other trying to go for the transformers action crowd.

Just skimming through Twitter and the tweets with the BvS hashtag seem to be very positive.

I have a feeling that Affleck's Batman is really going to connect with audiences and carry this film over the finish line in terms of box office performance.

Because nobody wants to sit in a toxic thread trying to reason with people hellbent on shitting on the movie.

That doesn't sound remotely correct at all.

Percent drop or gross?

It depends on WOM, but if it's that bad then a 68% is not that hard to see.

It better have a $150 million+ OW or the domestic gross is not gonna look good in the end.

Cute, so once the film gets panned you all slink away to your echo-chamber community forum.

That or post drive-by shit posts about how critics don't matter and "Marvel bias!"

Just came back from the movie. I liked it as I liked man of steel I understand critics. Too long , yet many things pop in your face and you're like how ? And action was better in mos imho. Yet I still enjoyed it

Just as the haters were absent in the early reactions thread.

I have hype for tomorrow. If i get dissapointed i dont care. Silver screen batman and superman on one screen is part of the bucket list

Batman Forever is fun; it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

Also I am probably the only person who enjoyed Batman Forever, ha ha.

We should hang out.

I expected this and said looks dumb. Wonder woman casting and batman casting was first wrong start.

You're completely wrong though, as people are praising the casting of Batman and Wonder Woman. I've read in a couple of reviews that Superman is eclipsed by those two in his own movie. Although the general opinion I've seen has also been that Eisenberg does not make for a convincing Lex Luthor.

For a while yesterday i thought i would be wrong and Zach Snyder would pull one off...happy that wasn't the case

I wonder what parts Terrio and Goyer were responsible for.

It's a review thread for a Snyder movie that's getting trashed. I don't think people are trying to bag on it, but what do you expect the discussion to be given that rise of the silver surfer is sitting with a higher RT score?

Like he said, a lot of us want to see the film for ourselves and then judge it.

I don't know why saying it would be good vs saying it would be bad is more valid than the other without having seen the movie, I know when I said people liked the movie I at least linked sources.

Yes, there a people who were already convinced that they were going to like it, as there were people already convinced that they would hate it. For me? I'm seeing it tonight and I think I will like it. What if I don't? Well, I've got hundreds of comic books to read, Suicide Squad, Civil War and Xmen are coming...

The thing most people don't seem to realize is: if this movie does good numbers, that benefits the entire genre, not only WB.

Richard Roeper seemed to dig a lot of it. I'm cool with that.

About a half-hour into “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” I was starting to feel this could be one of the best superhero movies of the last 20 years. Alas, we go from spectacular to solid, from great to good.

When it sings, “Dawn of Justice” is a wonder. When it drags, it still looks good and offers hints of a better scene just around the corner.

I'm cool with that. Still looking forward to it.

Even though I'll be there day one no matter what, I don't know why people had such faith in Terrio. Yeah he won an Oscar but he doesn't have a large enough body of work imo.

Also after that recent interview it sounds like he doesn't want to write JL part 2, and instead give that to someone else and move on.

I will see it as a Batman fan. Burton is probably my favorite incarnation.
Not that worried if it sucks because Civil War is coming soon. There are so many CBMs out there and I have bias of being tired of them, but we shall see. I managed to enjoy Ant-Man.

I am neutral on Superman. Liked only half of his films.
