Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I don't get the puddles gimmick in this years title. For one, I can't ever recall watching a race with enough standing water on the track to form puddles that wasn't black flagged. Why add a feature that is not featured in real world racing? Second, if the puddles are always the same and not dynamic, you lose the challenge of them even being there after a few laps around the circuit? It just becomes an exercise in remembering the "new" wet racing line.

I was kinda curious of this as well. I don't really see a problem with the water initially but over time it should go away cause they aren't going to allow the water to just stand there like that w/o stopping the race.

Also, if enough cars drive through it the puddle should dissipate, should it not?

Forza isn't about emulating real world racing series though. They just have cars and tracks with a nice sim engine. It's just a neat hazard that forces you to change up lines you're used to.

Obviously dynamic weather and even puddles would be nice, but we got the hardware we have.

Don't worry about it. Forza doesn't try to emulate real-world racing. The puddles are there to add a fun challenge.

Apologies if this was already discussed (this is kind of a mega thread). There are P2P races in FM6, right? Those have always been my favorite tracks in previous Forza games.

Googling and searching the main website didn't provide anything.

See 've always wondered, you have a racing series and you're up to game number 6, why not release that game with every fucking track from previous games, at least the "fantasy" ones? Seems like a no brainer to me.

I always get bored of racing the same tracks over and over after a while.

Also, i think the graphics in this game are great, but the lighting engine is still not realistic enough maybe that's why it doesn't look as impressive.

New assets, laser scanning, and licensing.

They'll maybe (hopefully) come later as DLC. There's a lot of work in updating the assets for current-gen hardware.

I liked this pic :

I was driving the same car in Driveclub, I thought I could recreate the same pic so here it is, crappy grab from ugly compressed twitter please don't mind :

Fun facts :
This is the not the Stingray, it's the Z06 2015. You can tell from the black spoiler and black extension on the rear wheels robes. Also, in DC, the rear lights are all blacks, when in F6 Demo, they are red like in the 2014 (13?) stingray. Not sure who got it right or wrong or placeholder for F6 demo ? Also, the Corvette name tag not on F6 screen. Not sure who is right.

DC is pretty much the best car photography simulator ever made. The models look so good and the colours and lighting are so natural looking, it's incredible. Sometimes the screenshots I see are so realistic that had I randomly come across them in some car magazine I would've just assumed they were real.

Forza seems to have it's own style. It looks realistic enough but everything is just a touch cartoony or something. I can't put my finger on it.

Different hardware, different assests, different engine, they'd probably look terrible ported over without tons of work.

Same reason why the car models were (allegedly) all re-done for FM5.

Does this game have all the tracks from F5? I get when they're in different generations but what about cases like F5 and F6? This happens with every racing series, even ones with nothing but fake tracks and i don't get it.

Yes. Every FM5 track, including those released as free DLC, are in FM6.

They deserved it. They fucked up the game economy compared to the predecessors.

Disagree. Criticism, fine.

But the response to FM5 micro-transactions was absurd, and T10/MS's response to that reaction (which I suspect was largely from people not even playing the game) screwed up the economy much worse.

Jesus, I go to bed for the night and this whole thread goes to shit.

Seriously though, we better get Kaido as DLC. Easily the most fun track to fuck around on, and the uphill/downhill P2P races were fuckin awesome.

ESPECIALLY now with night being an option! All I can think about is all the awesome Initial D style shit we are missing because it is gone.

Yep. I ended up with so much money I didn't even have to try and earn cars.

I've never had less than 1 Million credits in the game since the day it launched. Within a few weeks I had so much money I couldn't even catch up spending it for cars to race.

I need to purchase 300 cars total in F5 so I can get the bonus money in F6...but then again, do I really want all that money to the point that it doesn't even feel like an accomplishment buying a car? I mean, it's not like I had to race to earn $$$ to afford it.

I wonder if that is why they added the Mod Packs to Forza 6? They already said the payouts are going to be on the generous side, so maybe the Mod Packs are a way to soak up some of that extra money.

Why do I see the worst intent in everyone's post? Maybe the problem is me?

"Hey guys, don't know if this was asked before, but, uh, are there point to point races. I loved those in Forza 1. That's basically all I want. I wish there was a game out there that had that. That would be sweet.

Hell, I'd be okay if it were 30 FPS just to make those P2P races look better.

Hell, I'd be fine with exaggerated braking and physics to make it more exhilarating.

I'd be cool with that, right? Anyone?

Anyone want to talk about Driveclub with me? Anyone?

Graphics comparison?"

Yep, the problem is me. I hate the internet, that's what has happened...

Sounds like a mild case of confirmation bias maybe..?

Drat. That's a bummer.

I don't really care about the game economy. There's no auction house anymore and at this point, I'd rather get immediate access to everything like pcars.

I don't play for the money grind to buy new cars, but I'd even like going back to reward cars for winning or leveling up like the older games did.

Just got my review copy!

I'll be streaming some gameplay tonight (hopefully around 10pm GMT) if anyone would like to watch. I'll take as many requests and answer as many questions as I can, but bear in mind that I am under embargo and can only show certain things.

We do get reward cars for leveling up now through the spin mechanic.

I think leveling is closer to what we had in FH2. It can be a car or cash. I like it like that. I hit level 600 in FM5 But the cars stopped around 50 I think. This way there is a chance to get a car even late game.

Do we know if car clubs are in the game? Helios, will they let you answer that for us?

Shortt! How are ya, my old teammate?! Be good to see you in chat.

I am good man! Where have you been? We need to get the teams back together for Forza 6, Mediocre Motorsports for life!

Definitely let us know when you start streaming on here and I should be there. I will have to tear myself away from Mad Max enough to watch though.

What in the world...

"Unfortunately, no one can be told what Forza 6 is. You have to see it for yourself."

On a side note, I played through the demo again... For the 3rd time and I'm warming to the game. I chose the Golf R this time and actually had fun with it.

5 got marked down for being an Xbox One launch game. The knives were out.

I loved Forza 5...but it was really hurt by microtransactions and feeling like a downgrade content-wise from FM 4. I've been playing the game for a couple of days now to review it, and I'm looking forward to seeing how everything in this adds up as an experience. The mainline games have been a bit too sterile, while the Horizon games have been damn near perfect.
