Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I'm just sick of every Forza thread turning into a Driveclub defense thread. It's happened in every single thread. And this one was so good for some long stretches there.

My approach to games that I'm never going to play on systems I don't own is to not talk about them and not give a shit. It's just like Trump in politics. Other people can give a shit/give attention. Doesn't need to affect me.

I loved Forza 5...but it was really hurt by microtransactions and feeling like a downgrade content-wise from FM 4. I've been playing the game for a couple of days now to review it, and I'm looking forward to seeing how everything in this adds up as an experience. The mainline games have been a bit too sterile, while the Horizon games have been damn near perfect.

The microtransactions thing was nonsense, the previous game had the same tokens - FM5 just got caught up the Xbone shitshow at launch.

If you think serious racing games are sterile should you be the person to review it?

Right? I seriously don't understand the mindset that makes someone come into a thread about a game they have no intention of playing and talking shit about it. Or, talking about how much better another game is. Who does that?

It is like console wars, who gives a fuck? You are an adult and it is a giant company, nobody cares about your loyalty or whatever the fuck you want to call it.

The microtransactions thing was so obviously a dog whistle for the anti-XB1 sentiment it just became ludicrous the more it went on. Especially since it was bullshit from the start, and then even more so after T10 changed the entire economy of the game.

I dunno, maybe I am too old but I am getting tired of how much people want to complain about a hobby they claim to enjoy.

I feel the same.

In my early 40s now. In my late 20s all the way through my 30s I was involved in games professionally - retail, then journalist, site editor, even some writing for games. I'm glad I'm out of it now, it's got increasingly toxic online.

Now I tend to use games forums to talk about games I'm interested in and share stories about them with other players. The drive-by shitposting really is tiresome.

I still can't get over the fact a poster said he wanted to cave Dans head in, and then wasn't banned. Between gamer gate and the standard console war bs I would never want to call myself a gamer.

If only you could equip negative mods that would devalue money so you can have some sense of earning your next upgrade or car instead of having millions constantly thrown at you. Also having Bets instead of Dares would be more interesting.

I'm impressed with racing in the rain bonnet or bumper cam but chase view the cars look like they're cell shaded at times to me and floating. Handling seems better when switching off aids and i'm not too sure about mods/boosts makes it seem very arcadey. Was a day 1 for me but maybe not now but i think that might be me just a bit tired of the series and maybe i need a rest.

Seriously! I honestly do feel like the "gaming community" has become increasingly more toxic over the last few years. Not only in the way people communicate and harass others but in how nitpicky and shitty the community has become.

I mean, jesus people, calm the fuck down.

I feel the same.

I am in my mid 30s and I agree completely. I want to talk to people about the games I enjoy playing or find other people who enjoy the same things. I don't understand why we need a thread for people to talk shit about other racing games, the fact they have to have something like that just to keep these threads clean is a fuckin joke.

It is okay to criticize and talk about how games can be better, but so often people just take it too fuckin serious and get all shitty. It is so frustrating to want to talk about a game and have to wade through post after post about how the puddles don't accurate keep track of how much water they have in them, or how another game looks so much better, or some bullshit about DLC/microtransactons.

it's called, Inferiority complex.

I dunno man, I feel like that is too easy of an answer. I honestly think the culture and community around games has significantly shifted in the last few years. And not anywhere good.

But if it was hard to get money then everyone would complain about how grindy the game is, or how its obviously set up for making you buy tokens, or some other crazy bullshit.

But seriously, that bets idea is fuckin great. Remember the old NFS game that let you race for pink slips? I would love to see something like that in a Forza game. Would be cool to be able to put money into the outcome of online races or adding some kind of "I can still win with 50PI less" type of thing.

Probably going to sound like an old foggie, being mid 40's an all, but the internet has bred a really nasty and toxic generation.

It's not just gaming, all media, movies, books, music, has the same toxic element.

Call it "special snowflake" syndrome. Everyone thinks what they have to say is so important that everyone needs to hear about it right now. And not only is it that important, but obviously right, so everyone who disagrees is an idiot who must be yelled at.

Anyway, back on topic. Seriously can't wait for this to unlock on the 10th.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but do the "spins" from the Forza 6 demo transfer to the full version? I landed on a Bugatti Veyron then next spin I got 1 million in credits.

The thing I don't understand is why everything seems to be about a games gfx on neogaf, I see lots of criticism that a game looks like ass... On a next generation console a game doesn't look anything but amazing. I'm 35 years old and been playing all the games that were in the new forza TV advert and definitely do not think any game nowadays looks bad. If it means people going back and starting games from the beginning to nowadays then they seriously need to do that.
If a game is judged on looks by a person then they aren't playing the game so they may as well watch a movie.

Why have spins then for a demo? It literally ended the next race so you couldn't use what you obtained anyways.

I am guessing just to show off the mechanic, same with the mods in the demo. Just to show you how it will work in the full game and give you a quick look at it.

Fun demo. It seems like it took the core of Forza 5 and added some things from Horizon 2. One thing I really like about the Forza series is that it's extremely accessible. With full customization of assists and difficulties, a player can really monitor his or her progression.

because it is a "demonstration" of the full game. it is not "the game" so why would they let you keep your progress.

shit, they are giving a free car for playing a free, comparatively very deep demo. anything else you would like?

Liking what I see on some of the streams/videos being posted.

Career races seem to be longer than 2 laps in length. Good stuff.

I hate everyone that will be playing on the 10th. Just a little out of my budget. :(
Did we find out if there is car clubs in Forza 6?

They get longer too, streamers are only permitted to stream the first two hours of career.
That's great to hear! Are endurance races back in the career?

No car clubs in Forza 6, racers get longer as you progress in career, plus there are multiple showcase events dedicated to endurance racing.

I am curious why the car clubs were removed? Are there any other systems built into the game to make League Races and such easier for us?

Of course DC looks miles better but the Forza model is wrong. How can they have models that aren't authentic.

Here's the real deal,

DC model is spot-on.

I really don't want to fuel a debate about some minor, not gameplay relevant authenticity facts, but I feel blind here. What is the difference between the 2 pictures? The Corvette name-tag? That's probably an option when you order the car. The only other difference I see is that one car has the headlights on because it's raining and darker.

What did I miss? The difference in transparancy of the spoiler?

Bummer about the car clubs, but dedicated endurance races is fantastic. I'll take the good with the bad on this one. :)

It took 41 seconds to load spa at night from the free play menu in VVV's stream. Yikes.
Have you played Forza 5? Some of the races were shorter than the load times.

Depending on your driving style (think they said skill and aggressiveness so far, I bet assists will play a role too) you will be put into a racing "division". That's all I know..., you can already filter the demo leaderboards for your division, but everybody seems to be in the same one so far.

Load times were one of the things I wanted fixed after getting annoyed with them in Forza 5. I didn't remember them being that bad in 4 but after going back and playing it recently I noticed they weren't good in that game either. I wish we could throw a solid state drive in there and get full speed.

Hopefully it'll a bit quicker from my USB3 external drive. Forza 5 loads races quicker from it than the internal drive.

What's the process like for setting up a drive to work with the X1? I already have a couple large external USB 3.0 drives but they have data I can't lose on them. Does the Xbox format them and if so can you at least select a partition to use so you don't have to wipe the whole thing? If so I'll shrink a partition and give it a try I think.

edit: I'll stop being lazy and google it actually

It completely formats them. So you'd need to back the stuff up elsewhere first. That is if you want to set up a drive for storing games - you can copy or move games to the drives.

If you want to use an external drive for media it doesn't format the drive.

That's unfortunate. I do need more space on my Xbox anyway so maybe I'll just get a new external drive for it eventually. Those 5400rpm internal drives are so slow

Really......that's bullshit about the car clubs, but hey what do I know.

On a sign of GOOD news, I finally am getting back into the swing of this game. The Ferrari challenge rivals at Yas Marina, have a decent time but I'm fairly confident I can get it down a full second faster.

I really shouldn't be watching these streams. The wait was pretty bearable when we weren't getting any new media for a while there but the demo combined with all these great streams is killing me. These next 11 days are going feel like an eternity.

*tries to forget about the game*

It's not a matter of serious racing games being sterile, it's a matter of the presentation being bland. The mainline Forza games have had this issue for a while where everything's just a little too perfect, a little too clean, and it bugs me. It's far from a deal-breaker, because the entire reason I got into this series was FM 1 FINALLY delivering a fun sim racer. It was the game I wanted Gran Turismo to be, but never quite was. Plus, it had a kickass decal editor that has held up nicely despite over a decade passing between then and now.
