The game I want most though is a port of or sequel to Mario 3D World.

I've only played 3D Land and that was my favourite Mario game so far, the perfect balance between 2D and 3D Mario. I hear that 3D World is even better but seems criminally underated because nobody owned a Wii U.

Best thread on GAF right now, anyone who isn't a Nintenbro should be banned immediately. Anyway, I absolutely can't wait for Animal Crossing. I love the series and everything I've seen from this new one confirms it's basically just more New Leaf... WHICH IS AWESOME!

3D World features some of the best level designs I've ever seen. There's a shit-ton of them and every single one feels reasonably unique and well crafted. Truly a fantastic game that got undeservedly overshadowed by Odyssey because hurr durr muh exploration, linear levels suck. 3D World is every bit as great as Odyssey.

I would say watch some footage and reviews before you decide. I absolutely LOVE press turned combat system in this game but the games art direction is not gonna be for everyone.

Having said that, I REALLY hope a remaster won't be Monolith Soft's only 2020-game. It's never been this long between two new games. XB2 was 2017 (its DLC reaching into 2018), then nothing for now two years.

I think it's overdue that they officially reveal their medieval openworld action-rpg. It's what I'm hoping for the January Direct. XB HD should release no later than May, leaving late summer/fall for the new game, before BotW2 ends in December.

Ofc, I'm also hoping for SMT5 to materialize at long last ...

Xenoblade remake is something i'm looking forward to. Zelda might be good, but hopefully there is a story and more memorable characters this time. I have little to no faith in Prime 4

I know it gets updated regularly but since Witcher 3, Luigi's Mansion and the Pokemon games dropped, nothing has been added down the list that looks like a marquee release. Knowing Nintendo they've probably got some unannounced stuff waiting to be shown/released before Christmas.

I am happy with the Switch in generally and mostly I am playing the indie games from the eshop anyway.
However, looking forward to 2020 I'm not sure what they have coming up.

Are Metroid and Bayonetta really that big in terms of Nintendo releases?

Seems like BotW 2 is going to be their big one for 2020 but it seems a bit early to speculate on that.

I hope it’s a step away from the Xeno series, I love them but I would like to see something more traditional medevil fantasy.

The Xeno moniker can be any kind of game, so for greater recognition I hope they use it + it could have subtle connections that enrichen the lore.

And tbh I really don't want another traditional medieval fantasy game. We've fot millions of those. Give me Escaflowne!

I think the problem with a Metroid Prime Trilogy HD is that it would take a lot of work to touch up on three games for one sku.

Also remember how much criticism Nintendo got for the marginal visual upgrades for Twilight Princess HD compared to Wind Waker HD.

It makes more sense if Nintendo took their time and did a Wind Waker style visual upgrade to sell each entry separately.

I had no idea that Emily Rogers had been bringing up Pikmin 3. Thank you to everyone who posted that.

She started off awful, but has gotten so much stuff right over the years, I pretty much consider this the closest possible thing to a confirmation, even as someone who usually at rumors.

I would adore the chance to be playing Pikmin 3 early next year.

It’s an amazing game, and one I never got to complete. Moreover, I don’t think the Pikmin series proper has ever been released on a Nintendo console that wasn’t their worst selling ever, so I’d like to see these absolutely fantastic tiny adventures reach people they never have before.

I've actually never played a Bayonetta game!
I've still got a lot of Switdh backlog to work through but will hopefully try Bayonetta 1 & 2 before the third releases.

Wii U was a pretty good console in terms of software. I briefly had possession of one to play through DK TF but there's loads I missed out on. I'd really like to play W101 as well.
