Hmmm, in the reflected image there are also Jesus and Satan and Stan's brother is wearing a weird mask, I suppose it's a on-purpose artwork and perhaps has something to do with the game's storyline, interesting...

By the way I'm a huge fan of South Park, frankly early seasons were quite meh to me but later on I chaged my mind and the show has been one of my favourite things on TV overall for some years and one of the most intelligent ones for sure.

Not only South Park is hilarious, at the same time manages to be also so thought-provoking in a nice way; many episodes can actually deliver a message talking even about some serious issues, so it is basically a perfect show, as far as I am concerned.

That said, I'm expecting great things from those South Park's guys, and Obsidian will be hopefully be able to make real Trevor and Stone's ideas, I'm looking forward to it and hope they will consider a WiiU porting.

This is a good direction for the ip, will pick this up for sure even though I'm not an RPG fan. The show is still good, but making the show always about current events can be stale at times.

So they don't reveal anything about the gameplay or art style?

Avellone would probably agree with that. That said, he and Josh Sawyer are the most talented designers in the industry imo.

The last thing Avellone wrote that was truly fucking impressive was Planescape: Torment. There really hasn't been a game narrative in the same league since.

I don't know about that, I was hugely impressed by Alpha Protocol from a writing perspective, though for extremely different reasons than Planescape. AP is one of the most interesting interactive narrative executions ever created, it's the flexibility and structure of it which is impressive to me.

Funny side-note, one of the designers who worked on AP claimed on SA that Avellone is often slightly self-deprecating about PST. I think the phrase which stood out was "cribbing from the Harlequin playbook" regarding the romantic themes in the story.

Just how tightly wound the character advancement and narrative were is the true brilliance. How you played and even your stats influenced the way you could handle situations while the results of your actions changed the way you grew as a character and how the narrative would play out.

It hasn't been reproduced because it's a lot of damn work and much like a massive open world game it's really complicated to make sure it all works properly and interacts organically.

Obsidian's involvement gives me hope.
That's what I was thinking. Give me a fallout type South Park, and this really could be a surprise. Give is the spin of the N64 game too. There was very little more entertaining that smashing a turkey in the face with a dodgeball. Truly a wondrous thing.

I'm the complete opposite of you. I love the early seasons, and have stopped watching the show now.

The voice acting was what killed Alpha Protocol's narrative. PST is timeless because it isn't ruined by mediocre VA.

To be frank I feel like I've grown into South Park over the last couple of seasons. Even just this season episodes like the occupy Wallstreet one and Human CentIPad were spectacularly on-point.

Ah now you've totally lost me :p I love Mike, he's just such a complete twat no matter how you play him.

Not for me! Can't go wrong in story and dialogue if by Trey and Matt. Obsidian is good too.

I agree. I stopped watching for a couple of seasons but have become an avid fan again. I feel like the show has aged with me (on purpose, I assume).

Final boss better be the satanic Christmas Critters

Definitely an unforgettable moment for me

About 5 years too late.
Can't be assed to dig too deeply into this, but a quick Google check makes it seem like the show is still extremely popular.

For instance:
Wikipedia said:
The season 14 (2010) premiere gained 3.7 million viewers, the show's highest-rated season premiere since 1998
By comparison, The Daily Show (also on Comedy Central) appears to be about half as popular as South Park.

Ratings wise it still does well, but I don't think the show is even close to being as relevant in pop culture as it once was.

I'd rather have Daily Show RPG.

I just don't see how the world of South Park would make for an interesting 30 hour + experience.

$39.99 within six weeks of launch.

I don't see an alien in the cover art.

lol Scott Malkinson made the cover...

And? The alien being hidden in all but a few episodes of South Park is a series-long easter egg, thus he/she/it should have been hidden somewhere in the magazine cover art!
