My favorite modern RPG dev tackling a seemingly bizarre IP (that I also love)
Yeah, I'm actually hyped for this
I'm with you
This is so weird/weirdly awesome I'm excited.

I actually WOULD be hyped for this but Obsidian??? MEHHHHHH
I didn't get my hopes up and expected nothing less than disappointment, but I find this shit to be far worse than just disappointment would've been.
I think they are the most overrated RPG dev in the business, I think with the South Park license it could be interesting, it's just it being Obsidian is what concerns me but maybe they will surprise me.They're the best RPG dev in the business right now.
The problem is some dummies were expecting something like Shenmue 3, next gen console reveals and other equally ridiculous never-going-to-happen things.
Fair enough. More importantly I was trying to agree with you, lol.Obsidian only makes RPGs so I'm not sure how it's meaningful to point that out.
1. Obsidian has a good number of Fallout 2 developers on staff.
2. Obsidian Knocks it out of the park with New Vegas
3. Obsidian hires Fallout creator
4. Bethesda comes out with new engine
5. Obsidian announces.. south park?
Lol this is really unexpected, but if it's done in an Earthbound/Costume Quest type way, I think I'll be there day 1!
You forgot the part where Fallout New Vegas sells a fuckton of copies, yet Obsidian hardly sees any money from it.1. Obsidian has a good number of Fallout 2 developers on staff.

Game Informer reveal: South Park RPG by Obsidian (PS3/360) #1
They made the better KotOR. Though, I never played Alpha Protocol, so I can't speak on that.
The best kind of revealVery cool, and really unexpected.
This! Why should Obsidian write the dialogue?
Man. I think I would've been excited by this ten years ago.
The exaggeration makes it sound like you cared more than you suggest.
You've gotta be kidding me?
This is what people at Game Informer were "so excited" to see their readers react to? This was the most "shocking" cover of the year for GI?
A... South Park... RPG?
I don't care if Patrick Stewart were doing the voicework and BioWare were doing the RPG elements - South Park?
Talk about a disappointment...
I don't understand why this would be starring a created character. It feels like Stan would work just as well.
Ehh, not sure if I'm totally down with that
My only concern here is that Matt and Trey have been giving people the impression that they are tired of South Park. The finale for last season (or was it mid-season?) had people thinking they were ready to quit. I know they said on the Daily Show that they're not, but the writing has its moments that bring forth doubt.
If the guys put their best efforts into this, I think it will be stellar. I think there's a lot of huge potential here and the whole "wizards and warriors" thing gives the guys the creative freedom to take the IP somewhere new, yet still within familiar territory.
I'm going to remain optimistic about this and I look forward to seeing some video of it in action.
I expected it to be something that would just be boring and uninteresting, and we get something so insultingly shite I wouldn't care about it even if you paid me to.
In heaven Bioware writes the dialoge = goodObligatory:

In heaven Bioware writes the dialoge = good
In hell Bioware writes the dialoge = hell
Wut.
