I just ordered a 2TB 850 EVO on Prime Now.
How much? That's £550 in the uk - $700
(Hugs 1TB SSD bought in a lightning deal for £200)

I was thinking more about that 2tb crucial drive for $500
I wonder if it would really perform that much worse than the 850 EVO when it comes to PS4

It will not. Cheaper Sandisk/Crucial drives would be fine.I wonder if it would really perform that much worse than the 850 EVO when it comes to PS4
need test with firecuda
I've just read an article that an SSD reduces bloodborne loading times to 5 seconds. Issue is, buying an SSD on top of a pro is just massive extra costs.
250gb SSD is clearly not enough space, but neither is 500gb tbh.
coming once amazon delivers my shit later today
Hah, the SSD costs 1.5x as much as the Pro. Do you also have a gaming PC?
I haven't done a whole lot of intentional testing with the 2TB FireCuda, but loading times for The Last of Us are MASSIVELY improved over my 1TB 7200rpm drive. Like, half as long, if that.
I also tried GTA5 since that also has a very long initial loading time it was better, but not substantially.
On my og PS4 I swapped out the original hdd for a 2tb seagate and when I play bf 1 friends they always load into the map before me, they use stock hdd it's starting to piss me off lol.
Wow, that's a pretty good. I would like to see more tests with Bloodborne such as warping back to the main hub and back to a congested area in the game. I want an SSD for my Pro, but I've got other merchandise I'd rather buy first. The loading times were really are not that long on the standard HDD.http://gearnuke.com/first-ps4-pro-ssd-footage-shows-extremely-impressive-load-times-bloodborne/
not sure if posted yet. getting close to 5 second load times for bloodborne
I need a minimum of 1TB and don't want to pay more than $200.
We've already gotten sub-$200 1TB SSD a few times this year.
I'm sure you will see it in the leadup to Black Friday.
So does mine. But the iFixit teardown has HGST instead, so probably just a few suppliers
Newegg's Black Friday ad just went up and while it's not sub-$200 they will have the 1TB 850 EVO w/ a free digital copy of Watch Dogs 2 PC for $250
also a 960GB SanDisk Ultra II for $220 (no free game with this)
The SanDisk was 164 bucks on Prime Day.

Really? I'll return my 2TB Firecuda, sell my the HDD in my Pro and possibly sell WD2 as well. THAT would work out fine.
Do you have a link to the Newegg Black Friday ad? Thanks.
Edit* I see the add but not the Evo plus WD2
Does it also support TRIM? That's the main reason I don't put SSDs in my PS4.
So is the firecuda still the safe bet as of now?
Better than the 1TB default drive?
Is this still a thing?
I thought OS trim support stopped being a concern like 5-6 years ago since the firmware on SSDs handle their own garbage collection.

Do they? What should I look for when shopping for an SSD in regards to garbage collection? I used to look for Sandforce controller, but that doesn't seem so popular anymore.

BTW, does anyone have link to the instructions on how to add a drive to the pro? Video perhaps?
press your finger against the slot next to the ethernet port, pull in the direction of the raised arrow, unscrew
What about the files i need?

I've put my 2tb Samsung non ssd drive in my pro and I'm experiencing the same sluggish share button response. Also get the same slow laggy freeze response when trying to open the browser while the next bf1 map loads.
I tried the share button when the original 1tb drive was in and it's was snappy. Trouble is I only tried it once before I put the 2tb in. The 2tb HD is only a couple of years old I think so it's not old tech.
Will have to install the 1tb again and do some checks. Anyone else getting the same sluggishness?
Y'all fuckin up with the Evo drives. They will not perform any better than the Crucial MX300. Got a 750GB MX300 SSD for $170 and just put it in now to test Battlefield 1/Titan Fall 2/Ratchet and Clank.
