How Do People Think That The Order: 1886 Will Turn Out?

I think the game is going to be really amazing. I'm loving everything about the game so far, it contains an excellent setting, horror elements and werewolves. I foresee it being very well received by gamers in general.
I'm not much of a day one buyer but I will get the game at some point. Hopefully the game is a hit which will create a new franchise as opposed to a once in a time type thing.

According to Shinobi it's around the same length as Uncharted 1, which took me around 9-10 hours the first time, but less for other people. How long to Beat has it down as a 9 hour game, so take that as you will. I personally wanted closer to the 15 hour mark length for The Order, but I'll take 8-12 hours with a good degree of replayability.

9-10 hours of quality is fine by my standards as well. But the game has to be fun and the gameplay interesting enough for me to replay it.

If The Order is anything like that, then I am in.

It went from one of my most hyped announcements with the initial teaser, to something I just sigh about every time I hear news about it. I'm expecting less than satisfactory sales with low average reviews. I was really looking forward to werewolves too.

Victorian/Georgian architecture, interesting and hopefully close-knit group of support casts and Gears of War gameplay. I think 1886 will be one of the best games this year.

I am expecting a great single player experience that will last me at least 8-12 hours with a good story.

If it fills those requirements thats all good. I just wonder how many copies Sony expects this thing to sell?
I can see 500k WW in its first month considering GS has like what 200k pre-orders for it?

The funny thing to me about these people whining about cutscenes.

I bet most of them are eagerly anticipating the next Metal Gear. Known for being the most cutscene and dialogue heavy games in the industry. Or they loved TLOU, which was regularly cutting cutscenes with gameplay, very often. Or hell they are anticipating Uncharted 4 ( #1 and #2 on the most wanted list ) which is also heavy on cutscenes.

The stuff that The Order is being called out on is the same shit the same people will ignore with another game or franchise. Blows my mind.

But cut scenes in TLOU were mainly used cleverly to load in next 'map'. This is cool and a good use of resources and gives a nice play break with the game flow.

Using Cut scenes for every door open is not (unless its used to change map load in ). We don't know do we ?

Really no idea. But going from their track record, I'm hopeful.

I also hope they haven't changed the game too much based on those early previews, and stuck with their original vision.

The atmosphere, setting, and premise seem amazing. Sadly, I predict too many staged gameplay events, overly simplistic gameplay with long kill animations, QTE, and just not enough - 'game' to it. Of course, I would love to be blown away in the end - as I had similar concerns about The Last of Us and that was my GOTY.

I don't know anymore. Sony's first party titles for PS4 have been pretty damn disappointing so far. I'm very cautiously optimistic, but I was for Killzone and Knack too, and that really didn't work out for me. Maybe I should be more pessimistic and then if it turns out good, I'll be more happy.

I believe you are exaggerating quite a lot...

He ist but either the game looks worse with every new video or I've gotten used to this level of visuals over the last year, it's mostly a few nice effects, detailed faces and muted colors. If I can find it for less than 50€ and it really is 10hrs long then maaaaybe just to have something, anything to play on my PS4.

I love 3rd Person shooters that are made mostly for the campaigns. Uncharted 2 is my favorite game of all time, I like the occasional Gears... Stylewise Bioshock Infinite was my game of 2013 and I always loved the atmosphere in the blue'ish-dark Diablo dungeons.
...yet(!) I'm not interested in this game AT ALL. I dislike the character designs, the story doesn't seem intelligent and I haven't heard anything good about the feel of the shooting.
It seems like Sony's target group for this game are people who want to show off the graphical prowess of their PS4s to people who are still last gen without PC or who don't play video games.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
Eurogamer will love it
lol no

I think it'll be a sub-par disappointment. Sony hasn't had the best track record lately with their titles...

I don't think it'll be "bad", but it's in a place that may be difficult for mass-market appeal and sales. I think a lot of hardcore gamers will bash it's "cinematic" gameplay and possible length, and from a mass-market appeal, the lack of multiplayer may hurt it, and the setting I think is a big question mark as far as general appeal.

I plan on picking up a PS4 in the next few months, but I have low expectations of this title and it's not really on my radar. If it turns out really good, great. I just think it'll have a hard time.

I think all everyone who is down on this game will be completely wrong. Although RAD has only made handheld games so far all their games have been of high quality and I think people don't give them the recognition they deserve. Game is going to look great, play great with a very interesting story and lore. A basis for a first game to build on. Hopefully it will sell enough for them to work on a sequel. People need to remember that this is their first console game and a new IP.

which titles you referring to?

It'll be great, the setting is original with a great atmosphere from what I saw and the game is beautiful.
As far as the story goes I don't know how it will play out but since it looks like they don't want to spoil anything it will have an important role in the game which is good in my book. For the gameplay the weapon looks cool and I don't see why it gets shat on by people.

So yeah I'm pretty excited to finally get my hands around it and judge it by myself.

Linear as fuck maybe.
And your character seems to be wearing some sort of ski-mask, there are black pieces at the top and bottom of the screen.

Not a fan of the widescreen cinematic effect in games, its ok for cut-scenes, but it does nothing for gameplay!

Ready at Dawn did extremely well on PSP so to me they are a studio with a ton of potential.

I think the game will be either excellent or good at the very least.

Getting a PS4 next week and I hope it's good. My expectations are tempered though. Nothing of the gameplay I've seen has wowed me beyond "this looks solid at least". If it wasn't for the setting and the graphics and the fact that I do enjoy a good "cinematic" experience ala Uncharted, I wouldn't be interested at all at this point.

I think it will do fine. It's going to be marketed to death and people are going to buy it. People are going to possibly like it and call it a day.

I don't think many are going to over analyze every tiny things they hate like QTE involvement, black bars etc. If some just want the next greatest game on the PS4, they are going to buy it.

The setting is rarely used but hardly original, it's standard steampunk.

I think its going to be a gorgeous, linear experience with an interesting universe and solid, but not revolutionary gameplay...

I just hope they nail a story that matches the atmosphere...

I'm looking forward to the game quite a bit

Graphics = Amazing

Story = Good

Gameplay = Mediecore

Depending how important each of these aspects are to you, will probably determine how you feel about the game.

Personally I want to play it, but unless the reviews are amazing I will probably wait a few months.

The recent footage we got looks actually quite a bit better than the earlier stuff.

Early - direct feed (lighting not there yet, no shadows n stuff, only generic bright ambient):

Slightly less early - screen cap from a video(lighting added):

Most recent - screeen cap from a video:

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
Looks different enough from anything I've played that I'm looking forward to it, even if it's flawed. It's also the best looking game I've ever seen, so I have to see what it's like when I'm playing it.

I think it'll do decent and score an average around a 7 or 8 since it's not gonna be anything really groundbreaking, and I feel the QTE's are most definitely going to hurt the game critically, especially if they end up overdoing it (please don't overdo it). I will still end up buying it unless it just does horribly bad overall with reviews, but I really like how the gun design and gameplay is shaping up. I've been keeping my expecations very low though, that tends to do me well with most game releases.

If it's rarely used then it's original. Original doesn't necessarily mean never used before.

Then what makes The Order stand out to other steampunk media?

Brandon Sanderson's Alloy of The Law is original Steampunk, since it has a unique feel to it due to the unusual and extensive magic system he invented in allomancy and feruchemy from the Mistborn trilogy and added the twinborn system to it.

I don't know I haven't play the game yet.

What I was saying is that it's unusual to see an AAA game with this setting hence why it's original, I never said it was the first piece of entertainment in all history to tackle this setting.

I know a couple people who went to PS Experience and what they told me wasn't positive. But that's just two opinions out of billions on this planet. It still has a shot.

I played it at PSX and liked it quite a bit this and drawn to death were my games of the show. Also most of the other people that were there that I talked to enjoyed it these of course are opinions.

I have little to 0 interest in this game, the gameplay looks generic, and the graphics don't match half the shit on my PC although gaf seems willing to fap over it.

The story would need to be The Last of Us levels to get me interested.

I don't believe you.

On topic

Having played the long demo myself all I can give are my opinions. The gameplay was precise and tight and the sound direction was absolutely amazing. (That fucking score) More important than all of that it was actually fun. I really cannot comment on the story because what we get is a bit out of context and leaves too many holes to be filled with the imagination. Seems like overall the story will be very good.

The thing that gets me is we have not seen one set piece yet and I am pretty sure there will be some significant ones in this game. Predict a metacritic of 85 or better.
